- Join your host Ryan Perez and guest Kit Connor as they talk about Kit's experience into getting into a Saturday theatre school that changed his life, doing commercials, booking film/tv/theatre roles, and projects like "Rocketman," "His Dark Materials," and his new incredible show "Heartstopper" now streaming on Netflix!!!!
i'm so impressed with how professional he is at such a young age. hopefully he can find a balance between his public and private life and isn't too overwhelmed by all this
🎉🎉🎉
He's British so hopefully that'll help with keeping his feet on the ground.
@@voulafisentzidis8830 no need to be cruel
@@katzgar how is stating a fact cruel? It's well known that English culture vastly differs from that of Americans. The US style of cheerleading wouldn't work with Brits whose self-deprecating, generally modest attitudes, is the complete opposite.
@@voulafisentzidis8830 I get what you're saying. British actors tend to not let the fame go to their head and ego as easily as American actors do. But I admit, I'm sure the fame is great, but I'd hate to not be able to go anywhere without people, especially teenagers, flipping out and mobbing me.
How is he only 18? Such an incredible young actor and wise beyond his years. Absolutely love him in Rocketman and Heartstopper! Cannot wait to see what the future holds for him.
Kit absolutely did an amazing job. Heartstopper is like the best show on Netflix right now. It’s really great to see a Bisexual male character as a protagonist because I’m bi myself, but who is still in the closet. The coming out scene made me cry because I don’t think anyone in my family would support me like Nick’s mom did. Anyway, the chemistry between Kit and Joe is one of the many reasons why this show is really good. Netflix really needs to announce the 2nd season.
👏👏👏
I know all I need to be incredibly proud of you, Joshua. Sending the love and support of a perfect stranger.
I totally agree with you, Joshua. I also hope you are accepted whenever you decide to come out, I’m so proud of you now and in the future, I can’t imagine who difficult it must be hiding how you truly feel, I hope things get better and it isn’t as hard to come out in the future. Remember you don’t need to come out to anyone if you’re not ready and if they don’t accept YOU for who you ARE, then screw them! You are special and way better than them in every way possible.
He only bi for show? Or really bi?
@@hatekataraandillbreakyoure3407 Kit said he didn’t like people speculating about how he identified and nor wanted to announce to the public what he was. He said he was very confident in his sexuality but that it was a very private matter and that’s all we know. Nick is bisexual, Kit is unlabeled
I really do not know If Kit Connor is going to see this comment, but I have to make it.
My son made me watch Heartstopper with him, and in an afternoon, we saw the entire season. After watching it, we were both crying, feeling that Nick and Charlie are soul mates.
I looked at my son, saw him crying and hugged him really tight for, last year, he tried to commit suicide, because he thought he'd never meet someone like Nick.
You, Kit Connor, played Nick so beautifully, that made my son believe in love again. You really became special to me.
If my son will find his "Nick Nelson", I don't know. But, one thing I know for sure, I'll be there for him, or for them.
Thank YOU very much!!

Kit's going to have a wonderful career. He's so talented and seems like a genuine person. Fingers MASSIVELY crossed for Season 2 of Heartstopper.
@Ivanesa Ivkova I saw!!! I'm so so excited!!!
I could hear him speak for hours and i would never get bored of him. He is really interesting to listen to, very easy to understand also when English is not your mother language. He has a good vibe, you can immediately imagine that he is a very humble and kind person and easy to be around. Thank you a lot for this interview, it was such a pleasure to know more about him and I really hope he keeps doing what he loves because he is doing it so well and i can't wait to see him shining even more because he still have such a long career ahead him. ♥
Definitely go check his interview at Headstrong, a podcast with his colleague Louis Strong.
@@Tomy_Yon thank you, i will :)
Que buen momento para estar vivos...
@@Tomy_Yon did it today and loved it, was such a good time to listen to them, thanks for the recommendation:)
Nothing we couldn't expect from a pisces with cancer rising
He should get an Emmy for this role! Talking about touching people's life... I am bi, 36, and for a long time I was suffering from media-induced biphobia. The sexualized and commercial representation of bisexuality in media had made me kind of hate that part of myself. I was thinking I am doing "bi" wrong. Kit's portrayal of Nic's pain and confusion, was the first time, I saw how confused and painful the whole acceptance was for me. That it was OK to feel like that. Those scenes Nic is looking up in the internet... Those scenes, more than anything else helped me to resolve my biphobia. I actually used those scenes from the show to explain to my partner of 17 years why my sexuality still bothers me and what a toll my biphobia had been having on my mental well being. For helping me accepting a part of myself, I was desperately trying to suppress, heartsopper is going to be the most impactful show of my whole life. I am so thankful to everyone who made it and to Kit for his beautiful portrayal.
@@TDM1165 exactly! Tbh I always kind of felt envious of straight and gay people. In my mind, they at least knew how to define themselves and what they were attracted to, something that is unimaginable for me. As a kid I was constantly bullied at school for being lesbian which was not only painful because the whole being bullied part of it, but also because I was not a lesbian! But I also didn't know what I exactly was. I think until I was 25 or so, I hadn't even seen any on screen bi characters. They were all so cool and chill about their sexuality and were having fun being bi. So I started blaming myself for definitely doing it wrong. I remember around maybe 30 or 32, at the same time I was coming to terms with being bi, I watched a show on Netflix that a couple find out the wife is bi and start dating as a couple with a girl. I remember I got so angry, sad and offended which I couldn't even explain why. But right after that show, I started to feel angry any time anyone came out as bi. I started to try to "be" just straight especially because I was in a long term relationship with a man. I am a geneticist / neuroscientist, so knowing all the science behind sexual identity, experiencing biphobia was really bizarre for me. I was always outspoken for LGBTQI+ rights, but I started to feel kind of resentment only towards the B, and inevitably towards myself. Until I accidentally saw heartsopper and saw Nic. He was the first time I saw something I could relate to. The pain, the confusion... I think we always talk about representation of queer people, but don't talk enough about how harmful a bad representation can be.
@Mym Fard @steve anderson Thank you so much for sharing your stories here. I'm also bi/pan, I'm non-binary, and 41. It also has taken me a long time to figure out that much. These weren't even options I knew about when I was 17 and struggling for the first time with, "Who am I?". And like yourselves, Kit's portrayal of Nick is the first time I realize I've seen myself represented on screen. I broke down in sobs when he typed "Am I gay?" and hit , even though I guessed even before he went for his laptop exactly what he was going to go do and was laughing about it. In college I was really accepting of the explanation of gender and sexual orientation as being socially constructed phenomena (which attracted me into my vocation as a sociologist and community psychologist) because they did feel so fraught and artificial to me. But maybe because no one else ever questioned my gender/orientation I really didn't realize that it was a big giveaway *that I myself wasn't* cis/hetero. I was over 30 when I had that dawning of like, "wait, am *I* gay?" And certainly my access at that point to use the internet - removed from the surveillance of my partner or the homophobic faith community in which I was immersed - was key in helping me find other people's stories that resonated with mine and help to develop my identity... and figure out wtf I was going to do about it.
@@danakchampion thank you Dana for reading my story and sharing yours! Self-discovery and coming out stories of our generation was painfully different from the younger generation, but still similar to its core. Like you, I think I would still cry if I watch the scenes he was searching in the internet, they are just too close to home! I also couldn't watch the coming out scence at all! As sad as I became when I watched this show bc we didn't have something like this growing up, I am happy for the younger generation for having healthy representation.❤️ 🏳️🌈❤️ This pride month, I was happily proud 😁😁😁
Oop…. He did 🎉
Yep.
33 yo bi-woman and watching this show ripped wounds and dug up a trauma I didn't evan know I carried.
I had a full panic attack.
At work😅
I’m so impressed with Kit’s career I mean, he has done a little bit of everything, tv, movies and theater and he’s so professional like wow, and you can see that he’s passionate about what he’s doing, he’s doing it amazingly.
His performance in Heartstopper was amazing. So many scenes, his character was experiencing simultaneous conflicting emotions, and every time, it was all mapped out on his face. His character had the most complex emotional arc of the characters in this season of Heartstopper, and he nailed it time after time. One example that stands out: Right after Charlie has kissed him in the rain and then run away, the camera pulls around to show his face, and all at once he is showing boundless joy at what has just happened and "Oh, shit. Now what do I do?" And to have both those things happening at once on his face was just stunning. And he did this time after time, making this character heartbreakingly real.
wow, you state that so well. He has a gift for expressing emotions in his acting. Hope to see him in many more leading roles.
So many examples, all the cast did great but kits performance blew me away. The first kiss when he managed to portray abject fear and nerves as well as hope and an open vulnerability. Perfect examples of show don’t tell
He’s so emotionally healthy, (also his character is). You can see what a great job his parents did at raising him.
Honestly as gay guy myself, I am beyond THRILLED that we have someone so genuine rallying and supporting our community whether he’s apart of it directly or not (I totally respect his privacy ) this is the kind of care and passion we need for someone to put in our characters. Kit genuinely *gets* it. He understood what Nick Nelson and young Reggie means to us and goes out of his way to talk about getting more queer representation and it really feels like he sees us. I hope he keeps playing gays and of course many other roles that he wants but I would trust him with doing justice for any role he gets. He’s amazing and I could listen to him for hours. I wish I could talk to him and just thank him. Kit if you see this I hope you know I love you for loving us through the screen!
To think he was born the year I started school. Mad to think someone born after 2000 is now 18
Kit is an old soul. So impressed with his maturity, how humble he is and shows his gratitude for all he has done so far. Looking forward to following his career. Well done, young man!!!!
"when the cuteness faded" I don’t think it ever did xD
Couldn't imagine a better Nick Nelson, Kit seems like such a cool guy. They really found the perfect people for Heartstopper.
Just came back to say that now they’re on Heartstopper Season 3 and Kit just announced he’s going to be on Broadway. So happy that his dreams and goals are being realized…literally could not happen to a better person 💙 Still one of my favorite interviews!
“See what America has to offer” I would DIE to see him as hulkling if they bring him into the MCU.
I was thinking about him as Hulking too!
Please interview Joe Locke next. He is such a great actor for such a young age, just like Kit. The chemistry between the two of them in Heartstopper was truly amazing to watch. I hope Joe will be free to be interviewed. Thank you.
That first kiss was touching, the genuine look of surprise and excitement on kits face , felt real not scripted……
I could listen to Kit Connor for hours, he's so well-spoken and mature it's almost hard to believe he only turned 18 just a couple of months ago!
I'm always amazed how good he is as an actor. He's young but he's so wise and mature. I will surely support Kit and his future projects.
When you hear him talk you'd never think that he's only 18 y.o. He's sounds so mature and inspiring its mindblowing. Such a great actor I can't wait to see more of.
With each passing day I like Kit Connor more, he is a great actor and i can't wait for more of him on screen
His maturity is breathtaking...
These are the kind of moments in time where you see an actor and think “could they be the next big thing like Tom Holland? Timothée Chalamet? What’s in his future?” Because we’re seeing them so young and they’re doing amazing things it can only get bigger and better
He reminds me a bit of Heath ledger. Both in how he inhabits the character so naturally and seemingly effortlessly and in this interview where he comes across as humble, quiet, thoughtful and introspective
NOW WE ARE GETTING TWO MORE SEASONS 🥳🥳🥳
Netflix has just confirmed they have renewed Heartstopper for TWO more seasons!!
OMG THANK YOU I DIDNT KNOW IM SCREAMINGGG
He just so professional and talented at such a young age.
He is so professional, new generation actors are amazing
This was the best interview I've seen so far for Kit Connor, the long format is so refreshing compared to the standard soundbites we get elsewhere. This format helps paint him as a person and not just "the actor". Grateful for the opportunity to listen in on a relaxed conversation peppered with insightful questions. He's been working hard these past 10 years, his love of acting is revealed in the skills he has learned from his dedication and passion to the craft, such top tier level of professionalism, may he have a long and illustrious career👏
Best interview so far ... Joe Locke next? 😂
can we talk about how good the interviewer is? i have seen about 10.000 kit interviews, and i feel that this is the first time he spoke so fluently and comfortably with another person, and all the questions were super original. thanks for everything!!!!
Thank you so much for this!!! ❤️❤️
this is a prime example of why i love kit. he just seems so down to earth, and he is beyond well spoken. hard to believe he’s the same age as me, but he’s so mature and just seems like a good soul. so excited to see where his career takes him
16:45 When did the cuteness begin to fade? 🤣
the fact that he loves Christmas so much makes me want to cry
Hope you can read this Kit - always look after your self and don’t ever let the intensity of exposure get you down. Never put your emotional health in jeopardy. You are clearly a charming well adjusted young man and I wish you all the very best. Will watch your future career with interest
he is so mature for his age, literally an old soul trapped in a young mans body which i find so endearing bc hes just so well spoken lovely to listen to. glad hes getting more popular bc his performance in Heartstopper was just the glue of the show, you could tell he had more experience than the others bc holy his facial expressions, the emotions he portrayed was soo natural he gave such a realistic performance i am just amazed. kit connor i can't wait to see where the road takes you in the future i wish you the best!
He "looks so cuddly" if yk yk! He's so mature for his age, so calm and down to earth! Nice to know he lives so close to me!
It's so interesting to see such a young person carry themselves so incredibly well. It will be fun in 10, 15, 20 years to think we all found him in Heartstopper!
while i really do commend kit for being such a level-headed actor, i also want to thank ryan, the interviewer! the questions asked were thought-provoking, and provided such great insights into kit as both an actor, and as a person. well done!
Means everything!
Kit Connor is pure gold. I have no words to describe the heartwarming feeling hearing all these things he shared
kit is the most golden retriever a person can be in the best way possible... so so proud of him and absolutely love this show. also bi but not out yet, so that scene where nick comes out to his mom kind of breaks me, but also gives me hope for the future.
also insert gif of nick nelson saying "you look so cuddly like that" i swear i just wanna give this man a HUG
I really enjoyed this interview, it was so nice to hear Kit talk at length about his career and life. I’m probably the same age as his parents, but I was still deeply touched by Heartstopper. The way Kit makes visible Nicks process of allowing himself to explore his feelings is true masterwork - and personally for me very emotional because I didn’t allow myself to do so until much later in life. I’m so happy that younger generations can benefit from this kind of wonderful representation. The whole cast is amazing, but Kit stands out.
I can see the source of goodness in Kit that came through in Nick. Looking forward to his continuing career.
He looks like a living doll ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ And he’s also a professional down to earth person.
He speaks with the experience of a 30 year old actor. What maturity and grace. Bravo young man 👏
It’s honestly hard to believe Kit is only 18, he is incredibly well spoken and seems very mature. Not to mention an amazing actor! The entire cast of Heartstopper are fantastic, but Kit was absolutely the stand out for me. Looking forward to seeing how his career progresses, I’m sure it’ll be absolutely amazing!
He is so professional, mature and charismatic.
We loved him in Get Santa, my daughter dragged us to the imperial war museum to see the spitfire thanks to grandpas great escape. Rocket man was excellent.
I hope he goes on to do so much more. His emotions in just a look, were superb in Heartstopper, he portrayed Nick so well. Heartstopper is such a lovely beautiful show, it make me smile every time I watch it. Such nostalgic memories of being at school. I genuinely think Kit Connor and Joe Locke deserve awards for their acting in Heartstopper.
His performances have such depth and authenticity; a maturity beyond his years.
I remember seeing him in Rocketman & being taken by the pathos in his performance. A natural talent.
His career is on a very exciting trajectory.
A great, open & genuine interview.
obsessed with this boy
In one day Kit's interview is already the most viewed video on this channel. Pretty impressive. This kid is gonna go far!
SO excited...I have been waiting for an in-depth interview with Kit. His acting is so impressive. Here's hoping for a second season of Heartstopper and many more acting projects for this talented and sincere guy!
Since the end of their filming of Heartstopper I feel like he grown and matured so much and so well since. I’m already excited for season 2 and 3.
i have never watched or finished an one hour long interview but kit and his answers have something that will catch you
Kit Connor is such an incredible actor. I think his acting is one of the main things that makes Heartstopper so rewatchable for me. Every scene, he is bringing such complexity and authenticity; you can tell he is really in the moment and listening to his fellow actors. His smiles, his eyes, his face are all so deeply expressive. I hope there’s a second season of Heartstopper and I really can’t wait to follow Kit’s career!
It is just incredibe!!!! With just 18 years such a career. I have watched heartstopper i think 5 times? You just cant get tired of that show. Love it!!!
Saw heartstopper three times already, amo a kit Conner, he’s the best.
idky but out of all the things Kit said, the way he talks about his approach with acting just really got me. i don't know much about acting methods, let alone put too much thought into, but when he said he really rehearses the lines that he thinks the character would rehearse in their head (51:30), just wow. i wouldn't have ever thought of that. i can't wait to see his future works and everything that lies ahead for him.
He's an awesome actor, and he's adorable.
Can't wait for season 3 I hope they make more so kit can keep doing these interviews 😂❤❤❤❤
Thank you for 1 hour of Kit content. Never enough to hear this guy speak eloquently as a 18 year old
I love KIT SO MUCH
I adore him. His role was perfect and he played it perfectly. I’ve watched heartstopper like 7 times now ❤️
he's so well spoken all the time and his voice is always so calming
oh my god how not to fall in love with this beautiful man i love kit Connor
god i love listening to him.
My God he is eloquent and mature! I wasn't even half-baked at his age and yet he is so full of insight and interesting perspectives. What a fascinating young man and great interview ❤👏
What a lovely guy! Such a talented actor who did an incredible job playing Nick nelson. Truly brought the character to life in the most beautiful and sensitive way! Big things in his future!! Just hoping for heartstopper season 2!!
He seems like such a nice guy and to be honest I would love to sit with him and talk for hours. He is so amazing and I can't wait to see him in another film or show and I hope there is going to be another episode of Heartstopper!
Nobody has noticed that Kit has an actual smiley face drawn on his hand? :) (Even if that is not a smiley face, I'm going to pretend it is.) 43:56
This is the most comprehensive interview of Kit that I have ever seen. Great job Ryan. Kit is really good at doing interviews and giving substantive answers. Can’t believe he’s just 18. He’s mature beyond his years. Having said this, even with the facial hair he still looks 16 😂
He’s so eloquent and insightful for his age that I have to stop myself from crushing on him majorly because he’s only 18… 😳
Such a lovely interview all around. I could listen to Kit for days. I don't know what it is about him, but his voice and whole personality really draw me in time and time again.
Can’t believe he is just 18. He will have a big career ahead of him!
Its amazing listening to a younger person have a well-spoken and well thought out philosophy and mentality on life!
he is such a wise and so kind person really, I was very mesmerized by how well he speaks and how he answers all these questions wow just wow i'm so impresed.
I love interviews with Kit Connor, he is just adorable and amazing!
he's so well spoken! he for sure has a great career in front of him 🤍
I'm so impressed of how well spoken he Is besides the maturity he projects, can't wait to see more of him 🥰
A lot of Nick's reactions and expressions truly looked spontaneous - Kit's a natural.
What a fine, respectful and insightful conversation you facilitated, Ryan. I say conversation because it wasn't an interview, but a conversation between two professionals.
And what an incredibly mature and sweet person Kit Connor seems to be. He completely knocked me out as Nick Nelson. Not just what he says, how he says it, but his physical presence and physical interaction, and the way he looks at and smiles when being with Charlie. It is so real. And it moves me to tears every time (yes watching Heartstopper on repeat). Thank you for this episode, great job!
kit touching his hair every 5 seconds
And we see his big rugby arms every 5 seconds
Kit is obviously a really thoughtful and intelligent young person - I really enjoyed his insights on the theater, it does feel like that! I look forward to his future work which hopefully includes more seasons of Heartstopper. 🍂❤️
He just seems like a very lovely young man! His performance as Nick was wonderful and I can't wait to see what he does next!
He is so Mature for an 18 years old, like an Old Soul, A GLOWING Old soul. Xoxox
Love the interview! Kit maybe lucky, but he is also incredibly talented. I'm almost sure he will have an amzing career.❤❤❤
Bully Chap!
I sit here one hour later in complete awe of how quickly this chat went by. I absolutely love to see people talking about what they do in such a passionate way, you can tell how much work Kit's put into his craft, and it shows. Thank you for this interview, it really help us get to know him a little better. Amazing job!
Thank u for this interview! He is so kind, speaks well, never gets upset, is funny, it is really beautiful to hear him and to see him talk like that. I really wish him the best, he deserves it!
Kit has a really relaxing voice haha, it's really nice :-) Truly enjoy his acting and cannot wait for his future projects.
I’m fully and completely lost in this person❤️
so pleased you spoke about kit's work in his dark materials (so pleased to hear that he's working on the newest season too!!) and not just rocketman, was really interesting to hear about all of his experiences, and almost makes me wish that were me! he seems like such an amazing guy, and as a 19 year old at uni, I really commemorate him dealing with everything going on with his fame and a levels at 18, i know i could never have done that last year. he portrayed what has become to be such an important fictional character in my life, and i will forever thank him, alice, and the rest of the heartstopper cast and crew for that. here's to a second season, fingers crossed, and to hopefully see some future adaptations of alice's other novels that I've so recently become obsessed with!
I watched this whole thing…I really could listen to kit for days and not get tired ever
kit truly is so thoughtful and kind, his aura is very calm and comfortable. i feel like we’re very similar on some aspects. i can’t help but want to be friends with him! very good interview, thank you :)
just everything about him is so refreshing. he’s smashing it and i can’t wait to see where his talent takes him next
He’s such a good actor. I’m genuinely excited for his career ahead. I hope he’ll get more serious roles in the future. By the way he said that he’s excited for america, I am guessing it’s just a matter of time then.
I have been following Kit's career since he was in War and peace for the BBC and in Mr Holmes with Ian Mckellen. So I so pleased to see him in a starring role in the true to live Heartstopper. He was so eloquent and he being only 18, had an insightful outlook on life. I see greater things to come from this young actor. Thank you for a great interview.
Wish I'd have had a career that has spanned since my childhood and also no anxiety! 😭 it's wonderful to see someone so well spoken as well as internally secure I'm sure. I have many moments of weakness and anxiety although I try not to let it show. I genuinely believe that he has inner security and peace.
Thank you for this interview! Kit should have a personal podcast. I could literally listen to him talk for hours! Very eloquent and smart kid! ❤️
Kit is just wonderful. Talented, intelligent, insightful. The sensitivity he brought to Nick’s character in Heartstopper brought me to tears! Genuinely excited to see his career unfold, he is so deserving of everything coming his way.
I could have listened to Kit talk for much longer; how does an 18 year old thrust into the spotlight like this get to have such compassion, wisdom, and remain so down to earth?! I'm sure we'll be watching him in plenty more hits in years to come. Listening to him talk about when he was younger has really hit home about my own son, and encouraging him to follow his passions in life; and it feels so much more personal as we're also in Croydon (and yes, I do now look out for him any time we're wandering round, like he's just going to be walking down a street!!). Great interview; you really got the best out of him.
