    Cool Video! Would love to get some tipps about using red cameras. I recently bought a Raven, which is not the level of the helium 8K, but I think there is still a lot to learn about the red workflow on set and in post. Thank you so much for your cool videos and stay creative :)

    go try the Sony a7s3, I was shocked how well the dynamic range compares with my scarlet-w which I sold 4 month ago. It has way better low light performance than any red, and the highlight recover is almost the same. if you love the red or arri color, with some adjustment in Davinci, you can get very close. This little mirrorless camera is belowing my mind, it can compete with c500mk ii c300 mkiii, BM ursamini g2, helium , and even has good chances with alexa mini LF. Don't get me wrong, I'm love my red, love the camera design, love the color, but the quality is always big trouble. I can NEVER shoot with only 1 red for any big project, simply not safe to do so. I had a really bad experience when shooting with 3 helium 8k in Africa, 7 days work, 2 of them failed at the first and the 3rd day, we have a c300 mkii as back up for the rest of the shoot, used it in any rough condition like heat/rain/dust long shooting. Because we so afraid to break the last red. We even hand held the camera box all the time during transport to prevent any big bump... I always feel canon/arri are the most reliable camera, red may not be that good, but didn't know red is so fragile. Also, the minimag fails very easy if you get any dust or moisture inside, even in clean studio environment. Its quality is probably one of the worst I ever used in my entire career. Hopefully Red can build their stuff that actually matching its price tag in the future, the $100 worth 480g minimag, the $60 4.7" monitor, and the slowest camera, that's very bad in the future. But I still believe the camera has the coolest looking and hand feeling, I just enjoy hold it even when Im not shooting... It's 2020 now, everyone is making high performance small Video cameras that has extremely high quality/performance and way cheaper price compar to these top end cinema cameras. Feel really like back the day when full frame DSLR became so cheap and popular, everyone can affort it. Cinema camera will have the same change, smaller video camera will perform colser and closer and force all top brands to either drop price to stay in the game or find another way out, like Leica, from a good tool to luxury goods.

      Great info! I agree man like i said in the video i think the market will continue to get dominated by the small DSLR cameras and less and less people will find reasons to buy cameras like this. I’m 1000% picking me up an A7Siii, can’t wait!

    Hi Bradley! Great content, glad I found you! I have a question for you if you read this: did you find that owning this type of camera helped you landing some job? Also the other way: Do you often find yourself renting a different camera because they are not interested by a RED package? And they insist on say an Alexa or Canon EOS Cxxx ? The background for this question is that I am myself a VFX artist & supervisor, aspiring Cinematographer. I've shot a lot of GH5 & BMPCC stuff but while my work would start a conversation with someone, typically a producer of an indie feature or short, when they ask about" which camera I come with", usually saying a GH5 clearly kills some enthusiasm. Even if they did like the work 2 min prior! Or that I come with a crazy light kit. I find it frustrating but like one of your points says: maybe it's time to invest on myself. Hence looking for feedback like yours! Such a difficult choice hahah.

      @bradleydunnfilms  3 года назад

      Hi there! I constantly find me getting jobs because of this camera, that's the #1 upside of owning it. And to be honest I don't ever rent anything else, I can usually get the job done with this camera or my Sony A7siii. As far as the investment, I found myself renting the RED constantly, so at that point it made sense to make the investment.

    Hey can you make a video comparison of sony A1 8k footage and the red 8k footage. (not sure which red camera model has it)
    I am curious to see how they both compare and is the sony 8k really that good or its just a marketing gimmick.

    Honestly the red naming convention is confusing AF.
    So this camera is called a red helium? I thought the sensor name was helium. E.g. a red epic with helium sensor, red epic with dragon sensor. Etc
