      Absolutely! Go make stuff with what you got! Gather round your friends and family and make films on you phone, or whatever you go laying around. Learn composition, storytelling, lighting, editing. These are all things that have a minimal buy in and can serve you well into your career!

      100% start filming with your friends as soon as possible in your backyard because you won't always have the free time or friends haha. The sooner you learn the better you will be by the time you're my age.
      Also when you're just a kid don't be afraid to buy used gear... with magic lantern you can even get 5k raw on a used EOS M for 150$. So even if your mom doesn't want to buy you a fancy professional camera thats something even a kid can save up and afford

      Tom Kamín - Videoprodukce i don’t trust the word of the company. I’ll wait for third party reviewers. That said, I wouldn’t buy this as i pre ordered an a7siii. And if i was buying a cinema camera, I’d buy the ursa 12k

      @@RiceCubeTech Its not a word, its a real image. You can fake a image really.

    • @RiceCubeTech
      @RiceCubeTech 4 года назад

      Tom Kamín - Videoprodukce smartphone companies have been faking images for years when it comes to camera tests. There’s no way a company that sells $50k cameras are going to give 90 percent of the camera features, plus an in built screen, and AF, for a 5th of that price. Dynamic range and noise is the first to go when stripping down a camera like that. Also, how optimal where the settings, where was it shot, what was the lighting that we couldn’t see. There’s lots of ways to fudge dynamic range tests.

      Color science seems to be better to me. R3D is a wonderful raw codec that is supported everywhere. Global shutter is one of a kind in this small form factor and affordable price-point. A few years ago this cam would have super excited me, but I've gone so far into Sony land it wouldn't make any kind of financial sense. I'm also super used to internal ND and XLR etc. It is fascinating to see this from RED though. It's nice they're tapping into the mid-tier market and competing with companies like Zcam and Kinefinity who basically started out as poor man's RED cams. Very interesting year for cameras.

      Totally understand where you're coming from and appreciate the comment. All prosumer cameras these days are amazing. Make awesome stuff with what you got! These gear reviews aren't always for people who are interested in buying them... they are in a way their own form of entertainment. That's how we see it anyways.. We shot most the B-Roll in this video on a Canon 6D Mkii in 1080p. Doesn't matter really. Just trying to make entertaining content about filmmaking!

    • @christianjadot4459

      What do you mean by 'internal ND'? Canon has the RF-EF adapter with the drop-in filters. (Between the lens and sensor.) They have a variable ND option, or breakthrough photography has a wide selection of NDs and other filters soon to be released.
      So is it a true internal ND filter? No. But it is pretty close, especially if you already have a ton of EF glass.

    • @BrianMakesFilms
      @BrianMakesFilms 4 года назад

      @@christianjadot4459 I mean true internal ND built into the camera body like the Canon C300 and C500 cameras or Sony FS7 and FX9 have. It's hard to go back to having to mess with adapters or screw on filters after getting used to internal.

    This looks like a great option for anyone who hasn't really invested into any certain camera brand. Love how they had the Canon integration as that what most people start off with so upgrading to this camera just makes sense. Would love to see RED come out with a better auto focus in future updates. This camera would be great to take this on wedding shoots with me though if the auto focus ain't there I don't think this will be an investment for me. Yeah! that's really good, but, even my RED Mysterium X can do 120p at 2k, yeah it's a good camera, but for that price i think RED could come with really good specs, even tho i think this will be a good starting point for a lot of filmmakers who wanna try out RED sistem

    I HIGHLY recommend checking out the Tilta vmount adaptor for the Komodo as it uses both battery slots and not just one. I imagine the long term strain of the single slot vmount may damage the Komodo over time

    Great video. Thinking about upgrading from my bmpcc6k to the komodo. But id only go for the production model (forget paying $1000 extra just for a different colour). All the tests so far seem to show the image is fairly close, but my reasons are as follows:
    1. Redcode raw is just nicer- dunno how to explain it.
    2. Global shutter - not sure why BM took global shutter out of their cameras.
    2. Form factor - the Bmpcc4k/6k just have the weirdest shape and the screen makes it impossible to mount a battery flush against it.
    One thing I don't like on the komodo is the fixed RF mount. I wish they had interchangeable mount options like their other cameras. I have no desire to pay $3000-$4000 for stills lenses, and I hate using adapters (they're always loose AF)

    Will be very interesting to see the Komodo and P6K comparisons that will inevitably come.

      Indy Mogul no never sadly! Closest I got was my Red One which is still rolling shutter but feels better than a dslr.

    Great review! Really thinking of swapping my more bulky Epic-W for one, but the loss of higher fps does sting a little.

    • @indymogul
      @indymogul  4 года назад

      Yes it would...but the global shutter, weight savings, and what not is pretty good eh? how often do you do high frame rates?

    • @wreck2
      @wreck2 4 года назад

      @@indymogul I agree. I don't go out and shoot nearly as much as I want to, since it's so bulky and annoying to just "grab and go". I don't do super HFR 'all the time', but having 300fps is nice when you need it!

    This Camera can pay for itself especially if your using it for business. Hello business write off🎉 Investing in the evolution and the duplicity of its use can allow me to go from inside the classroom to the high impact outdoor filming that I need. This Red Komodo Camera is just what I may need to set myself apart from others in my industry.. It screams professional 🤩 Thank you Dave for the great educational review and inspiration. Congratulations Sir on your first of many videos with Indy Mogul. Stay DMazing #globalshutter #redkomodo #feelingsmarter #squarespace💗#davemaze

    How do you film outside in the sunlight using a red camera? How do you get rid of the sun glare on the screen? I tried 3rd party sun hoods but none of them seem to fit well on my red.
