Great to hear Noel being so candid about the period after Morning Glory. I kind of felt that was the case even back in the day; it must've been daunting following up those 2 albums, especially without a creative foil/ co-writer to bounce off.
The 3rd album was always likely to be a struggle to follow up. Maybe they could have done an acoustic album or more of a mix of acoustic and electric songs because songs like "Don't go away" I think is up there as one of their best ever songs, it's a beauty so maybe that could have worked. Hard to say though even in hindsight so I can't imagine having to actually make the 3rd album at the time.
I grew up on his songs - his "fearless" tryouts :) - and it forever chained me to music. Additionally: He's always great in these interviews - precious insights, snarky humour, never fails to entertain you. As much as I deified Oasis in my youth - I'm really not that hipped bout any "reunion" or not. We do have the songs from those years, and we still have the 2 of them marchin on with interesting new stuff.
Definitely Maybe/Whats The Story and Be Here Now is basically Godfather pt1/pt2/pt3 the first two were masterpieces and the 3rd was a misunderstood gem.
I don't get why ppl don't like 3rd, Stand by Me, D'You know what i mean & Don't Go Away was some of their best songs All Around The World i like too but definitely too long would have been more successful if they cut it in half Imo Standing on the Shoulder of Giants was there only bad album
@@XighorSOTSOG is a lot better than I used to think. It's got a concept storyline. And some of those lyrics hit hard. Little James is a dumbed down song, lyrically speaking, but as a tune, it's kinda brilliant. Equivalent of Hey Jude, once referenced. Anyway, it's an awesome scary little gem of an album that I can finally appreciate now that I understand where he was coming from. BHN was where it all started for me. But eek, let's cut a couple songs shorter, and tone down the toilet sounds, eh? 😂 My least favorite is DBTT, a hot mess, terrible production with maybe two fantastic songs.

That's how I feel about Hey Now! It's awfully redundant. I skip it. Morning Glory gets a free pass from me, even Cast No Shadow. But, honestly, they did that with a LOT of their songs. Sometimes it works, sometimes it just needed something more.
'I have no conceivable idea why every race of person gets Wonderwall'... that's bizarre to me. It's pretty obvious why and why ANY song is a hit. One word: melody. Catchy, memorable melody, that's it. Doesn't matter whether the song is smart or stupid, profound or inane, what it's about, none of that. If it's a discernable and memorable melody = HIT.
Not entirely accurate but I'd say to the largest degree it's Noel's own creation but there are musical influences that made Oasis too and a collaboration as to how the songs would be sonically built.
If 'All Around The World' was deemed to be that good by Noel, he would have put it one of the first two albums, as there's footage in the Supersonic doc of them practicing it in The Boardwalk, and like he says here it was written in '92. Be Here Now has some good tracks but a lot of it is either what was left over from his 'magic touch' period, or just not as good (and over produced).
