Hi from Germany...i like your Videos. Looking for results from different FTP tests. 4 Years ago i had an FTP from 320Watt (88kg). Now, after a (very) long break i have an FTP 235 Watt (20 Minute Test) and 97kg. Your Videos give me new motivation, thank you. Ride on 🙂

Thanks Rossi! Your comment means a lot to me! Unfortunately, I have had to take a break from cycling, I’ve had a lot going on in my personal life and need to try and get back on the bike and film more content. Hoping I can get my mojo back real soon. Keep on riding!!

Thank you! It definitely is a good place to start and I have a lot to learn from this ride. The training starts now and I’m excited to see how I improve over the next few months 🙌

Hey dude good effort for your first one, but I'll give you a few tips, First one being start using a HR monitor, second do the ramp test using ERG mode and third your rpm is way to low for a ramp test try aim for 85rpm and above but if you doing it using ERG mode that that will sort that issue out and your changing gear issue and you'll be more smoother

Thanks, that’s great advice! I now own a HR monitor so will be using this going forward. I have noticed that my cadence seems to be a lot slower than other Zwifters so I am going to be working on increasing that.
For ERG mode, I really can’t find a way of turning this on or off. No matter where I look and the advice I follow from the web leads me to nothing… I have a Tacx smart trainer and have read that it should change it automatically, depending on what ride/workout I do. Do you think that this is correct?

@TheKookyCyclist I did one a week and a half ago the night my Wahoo Kicker came in and it was like 140ish I attribute the increase to understanding how the system works.

use erg mode ffs, use an hrm, and spin those legs faster

What difference would erg mode make here? I’m still learning Zwift and all things to do with turbo trainers 😳

It makes it much easier to concentrate and focus. You can see here you spend so much time trying to correct your watts, they're up and down and all over the place and you're trying to match up the average. On erg mode you can completely forget about the watts, just keep spinning and the trainer will perfectly set them. Just put it on erg mode and pedal at a comfortable speed. That's all there is to it.

Those were exactly the 3 things I was thinking of recommending.

Thanks for the advice - I will look at this for my next attempt. Should I be using Erg in races too?

@@alanbell1821 do you do the training rides or free ride? A training plan will definitely help to increase your FTP!

“Not as bad as you thought” is such a crazy statement. You should be falling off the bike crying in absolute pain. It should be your total nightmare. You gave in far too easy.

Haha - I did think the same thing afterwards. I will taking the test again soon and will hopefully come out of it way worse! The next one is for you!
