We were there on Monday. The homeowner of the Goonies house has a sign at the end of the driveway (on the mailboxes) saying it’s OK to walk up on foot. They have a donation box by the fence. The homeowner was out watering her flowers and said they are using the donation box to help maintain the property. We happily contributed…
She must know that she can't deprive people of something as iconic as the Goonie house. I saw a couple of interviews with her and she said that she just doesn't want a lot of cars around wich is totally underdstandable. Smart of her to put up a donationbox and i hope every visitor donates a few bucks. People from all over the world visit that house. The Goonies is the movie i probably rewatched the most. I remember when i was young and my mother would let me rent a moviebox for 3 days once a month. It was the box with like 10 movies for 3 days for 20 Dutch guilders i think. The Goonies was always one of the movies i rented with it and the lady at the movierental always made sure she had a copy behind the counter for me 😁 I have a limited edition 4k version now and i handle it like gold lol. Sorry for rambling on haha.
I have been to Astoria 3 or 4 times and have always loved my Goonies visits. But I have to tell you, I have never seen a better homage video or better content than yours. So fun!! I can't wait to watch again and share with others! Goonies never say die!!
I was in high school ( St. Helens, Oregon- AKA Halloweentown), living a little over an hour away from Astoria when they were filming The Goonies. I remember the excitement of having a Spielberg movie being filmed in Oregon. After the movie came out we went to Astoria and I found Mikey's house. I talked with the woman who owned the house when the movie was filmed and talked with the old man who lived in Data's house. He hadn't seen the movie but he had one of the broken David statues and showed it to me. I offered to buy it from him but he didn't want to sell it. I'm glad you made it to Ecola state park. Every time I go up there I have to approximately set myself up in the locations where they filmed the scenes. I enjoyed and appreciate your scene match-ups and setting the record straight as to where the lighthouse was located. When I was there, that's where I figured it was as well. Your enthusiasm is entertaining!
best movie ever!! 👏👏 and this is the most compelling on-locatin presentation of this movie👍👍so fascinated with every detail... every now&then shot of the homes, jail,, car chase scenes... and all the irrefutable evidence proving the flagpole, the deadtree the boys trampled past,, and especially the spot of the fratelli hideout... the false fratelli nullifies previous claims but proves to be very important to put things into perspective ... this vid is totally awesome!!, goonies like me around the world appreciate all the time and effort you invested in researching and filming this. thanks to Allie for hanging tough while you were zipping all over the dang place, lol.
This is about an hour away from my hometown and I am so happy I found this video cause my husband loves the GOONIES!! Next little getaway for us!! Love all your videos!! 🩵🩵🩵
'The Goonies' and many other 80's films just have some little bit of magic, they made these films so well, these days films are very disposable and forgetable, thanks for checking out the filming locations, i always wanted to see where this was made but i live in England so it is really hard to get to Oregon USA!!!!
Hands down, best video you've made imo. I'm a Goonie too man. Born 1983, my wife was born 1985 lol.. favorite movie of all times. I've got NEVER SAY DIE tattooed on me lol
Really excellent Goonies movie video!!! You are right on with the lineups of the different Goonies scenes n sites!!! Loved doing the rocks line up!!! Good job on the Chunk scene remake, Allie!!! Attaboy, Justin n Allie!!!
Wow! Impressive detective work finding the Lighthouse lounge location! Next time check out the Astoria column it is pretty cool and a little adventure unto itself.
Hey you guys were in our backyard!! We live just a couple of blocks away Mikeys house...seriously my husband is a chef at Rogue Brewery right behind you on Pier 39. Hope you guys visit again, so we can show you around to things you might have missed. We love our little city of Astoria...Seriously come visit again! I walk almost everyday right by Mikeys house😁 Glad you visited on a non rainy day❤️
The day I went to Astoria it was mist raining the entire time. And as grossly damp as I felt, it actually gave me that nostalgia from the movie, so made my trip that much more worth while.
Wow. Thank you so much for this. I'm from Gerand I love the US. Unfortunately right now it's too complicated to come to the 35th anniversary. Maybe next time for the 40th 😂 You really have a godgiven country. Bless you 🤙
Thanks for posting this video. Might be a few years old but super informative. I just visited today and it was drizzling!!! Weather was exactly as it was in the movie. So glad I finally got to experience it! Grew up with this movie and watch it til this day.
Very good! Great work lining up the shots. I’m so amazed how you found them. Thanks for doing that, one of my favorites too! I remember just after the movie came out I saw Sean Astin at Skate Depot in Cerritos.
This was awesome!! I loved every minute of this video as this movie is one of my absolute favorites and as a kid this movie helped me through my handicap and it's still helping me as I enjoy it every time it's on TV and yes I had it on vhs and DVD but several years back I lost my movies and video games posters and other things in the flood but I'm hopeful to own this epic movie again and I can never go to Oregon as I have a briddle bone disease so I can't do much but thanks to you I was able to relive my childhood and the movie that means so much to me. The muesum was pretty cool.
That was AWESOME!! Definitely got my vote for a bucket list video well done man thank you so much born the same year as this and back to the future! 80s movies like this hood a special place in my heart and for you an inspiration to me DUDE!.. this was awesome!! STAY SAFE STAY STRONG AND STAY POSITIVE
When Goonies came out I lived in Luxembourg city and had a Goonies poster in my room from a Burger chain called Quick lol. I was around 11 or 12. Great memories. Thanks for your amazing video!!
I give this video a four stars. 🌟🌟🌟🌟 And two thumbs up for finding this excellent filming locations. 👍🏽👍🏽 We all grew up on this movie and we all want to be Goonies. 😄
Love your attention to detail in this video. I plan to head out there as part of my 40th birthday trip in September, and this has helped pinpoint the locations especially the Fratelli hideout. Thank you!
That is just AWESOME! I had originally planned to go to Astoria and visit the Goon Docks house back in 2015 for the film's 30th anniversary, but unfortunately, a bunch of idiots ruined it for everyone else, so it was closed to the public. 😣 Would still love to go up there someday and visit the old jailhouse, the film museum, the bowling alley where Chunk watched the car chase, and the park where the Fratelli's restaurant hideout was built. Great job btw of showing the exact location where their hideout was actually built, and those shots of the rocks in the background were amazing to see once again! Astoria seems like a really nice town, and I LOVE the scenery there! Thanks so much for sharing this! *Fun facts: The guy that played Mouth's dad (the plumber) was Nick McLean, the film's cinematographer ... and the sheriff's deputy that was in the beach scene at the end was none other than Richard Donner himself!
Wow!! You made all my dreams come true! You are my family’s favorite RUclipsr, about my favorite movie Goonies, in the town where I live!! Mind blow at the quality of the scene match ups! Nice work, good sir!! Thank you :)
Love The Goonies 🥰 Epic to see the town the movie was filmed in. I am enjoying the "actual film location" of movies you have been uploading lately. I am sure it is time consuming to research the locations and to then go seeking them out. Thank you Justin so very much for always bringing quality content. 👏😊
This was awesome Justin! Thank you for sharing your adventures with this born in 77 raised in 80s girl. This is one of my all time favorite movies. I know there are several videos out there already but we needed that Randomland flair that only you can provide. Now off to do the truffle shuttle with the extra pounds 2020 has brought me 🤣
Okaaaaay. Haven’t even watched the full video yet, but this is already my favorite video of yours! The Goonies has been my all-time favorite movie since my brother took me to see it when I was 10, back in 1985. Would love to go to Astoria one day! Thanks for sharing!
This was great.. I was 6 years old in 1985. I remember back in the 80s we had to wait 12 to 18 months after a film came out in the U.S.. Not 100% on that but was just going to say that i was about 10 when I first seen the Goonies and I still watch it to this day.. I have my own boys now and they loved it as well. Thanks for the video..
YOU ARE AWESOME 👌 I've watched the bonus features you can learn some cool stuff about the movie. It's on the commentary. What a awesome video thank you for sharing
Cool. Born in 83. So massive fan. Well done good job. :) very nostalgic:) I read a few years ago that the house owners do no like people turning up. Surly your think not to buy an old house from a famous movie then.... if I owned it I'd be happy for people to take pics... it's a famous house... :)
Great work man! Easily the best- and most informative video on The Goonies filming locations. This was WAY more than just “good enough”. Thanks!! 👍🏻☠️ Goonies forever!
I go to Astoria a lot..live on pdx...I go to all these spots all the time..wish I seen you. Literally as I write this. I just came back from. Timberline lodge. Can't believe you didn't go to kindergarten cop school..you were just a few blocks away. Yay..first comment
So glad you did this Justin! I’m 23 and this has been my favorite movie my whole life! My mom saw the goonies in theaters 13 times when she was 13 years old! Thanks for doing this! You’re the best!!!
Loved the shot line-ups. You clearly do a lot of research for your videos. Keep up the good work. I live in Portland... it's been great and educational to see your take on my neighborhood.
Great video! Just a couple of days ago my wife surprised me with a screening of Goonies at Bella Terra Cinemark in HB for my Bday. So cool to watch the movie on the silver screen again. Hope to visit the movie landmarks soon.
I remember about 15 years ago going there with friends and walking right up to the Goonies house and taking pictures out front. There used to be an Israeli flag on the front porch and a cooler by the mailbox saying something to the effect of "Welcome Goonies Fans” or something like that. They were the old owners of the house, and as long as you respected the driveway/house/neighborhood they welcomed people. But then going back probably 6 or 7 years later, it had completely changed and I think the new owners just weren't having any of it. Also, I'm pretty sure people didn't really care as much back in the 90's and early 2000's. Great video though!
You did an amazing job on this video. I grew up in the 80's and this brought back so many memories. It's awesome how things still lineup from the movie. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us.
I remember going there many summers ago! Luckily i live in Oregon so the trip wasn’t hard or long, and I remember visiting all sorts of places especially that house I remember driving by it it was awesome! glad to see your checking out one of my home states many awesome places
I saw the movie at 89' in Mexico. mom told me:" you like it, don't you mijo". Since that time I saw the movie many times. The classic one and a Master Piece.
I love seeing a grown man so excited about one of my favorite childhood movies!
Man....as a kid this movie made life seem so mythical. Things are out in the world to explore! You just have to do it.
God bless fellow goonies
The Goonies was always one of the movies i rented with it and the lady at the movierental always made sure she had a copy behind the counter for me 😁
I have a limited edition 4k version now and i handle it like gold lol.
Sorry for rambling on haha.
I have been to Astoria 3 or 4 times and have always loved my Goonies visits. But I have to tell you, I have never seen a better homage video or better content than yours. So fun!! I can't wait to watch again and share with others! Goonies never say die!!
STILL...totally amazed at how you line up the movie shots with the modern day setting!
I've been through Astoria on my way to Cannon Beach several times, but I've never stopped to see 'The Goonies' filming locations. This is cool.
Such a lovely way to show all the locations! I love how your girlfriend/wife supports your enthusiasm!
I was in high school ( St. Helens, Oregon- AKA Halloweentown), living a little over an hour away from Astoria when they were filming The Goonies.
