James Pat O’Malley married my grandmother and he was my step grandfather. I have many fond memories with him as a little boy. He was a warm kind and very funny man! Thank you so much for making this
    I will cherish it!
Seeing his work is how I remember him and keep him close

There's something fascinating about these older voice actors. Maybe it's how they sound back then when they speak or how we don't get to often see much of them behind the microphones in interviews or otherwise, making them seem rather mysterious.

As his nephew I can confirm he lived in London, so had some experience on the cockney accent, but better known in the UK by being the lead singer/musician in Jack Hylton's famous band, who later went to the US in 1935 (with American musicians recruited there because of union problems), but Pat remained lead singer & he met many film producers/actors on his tours, which drew him into the film/stage/voice-over productions for the rest of his career!... I had Teletext copies sent to him of congratulations from Al Capone(whilst in prison), Mae West & Benny Goodman on a record release he had in America at the time......Got to meet him a couple of times whilst over visiting family in the UK & he was larger than life......a real character actor, & brilliant singer in his day.

Fun fact: O'Malley was a very early pop singer, performing with Jack Hylton's big band beginning in 1930. When the orchestra toured the US, Pat decided to stay in the States.

    J. Pat O'Malley was a truly wonderful voice performer. It seems he had two definitive voices: his Tweddle brothers voice and his Walrus voice. Having seen him in several live action movies, I've found that he sounded more like the former in real life. Except in "Hello Dolly". In that case, he didn't really sound like either.
