I've gone all electric on my yard maintenance, Mower, trimmer, edger. Always have a freshly charged battery ready to go. Go EGO! Only wish my neighbors were so thoughtful!
Brian, I have a 42" electric cub cadet lawn tractor mower. I love the smell of ONLY the cut grass, now!. It used to be camouflaged by a 22hp john deere gasoline engine blowing in my face while I mowed. The fresh air is even more important to me than the noise. It is less too.... though
Finally, we'll be able to hear the grass growing just as its being cut. Thanks Brian and the Silent Gardner. BTW I just bought some silent firecrackers...
This guy has done such a great job. It's time for others to start following this model now that he has proven it can be done. It wins on sound, pollution, GHGs, and cost... and probably operator comfort. He's all in on electric and it works, and sounds like a skilled pro gardener as well.
When I owned a lawn company decades ago I would have loved this option. Also remeber small engines need frequent repairs. Electric has a lot less in fixing.
Electric lawn mower for six years; original batteries going strong, no noise, no exhaust, no arm-wrenching yanking on the starter cord, no failure to start after the winter. Battery electric weed whacker the same story. Incredible improvement.
I bought a Toro electric push mower a few years ago, and I love the fact that it's so quiet it sounds like I'm vacuuming my lawn. Until this video, I did not realize they make riding lawn mowers that are electric, and now that will be on my bucket list for my new house with its much larger lawn! Thanks, Brian! I always enjoy your content!!
For a bit over half of the year I spend a few hours each week keeping my little acre collection trimmed with a half ton ExMark 60” zero turn. I love the loud, messy, demanding monster because it makes a job easy and fun that would otherwise be impossible for me, but I’d love to make the switch to electric, now that it is becoming feasible. Maybe in a few years, the next time the beast goes into be serviced, I’ll pull the trigger. Since I have maybe less than six acres to mow and seldom do the whole thing in one session, an eMower would be an excellent fit for my grass cutting needs. Thanks to this vid I’ve begun looking into the idea, and the current machines are looking pretty good, but it’s clear that they vary in suitability; much research is necessary to pick the right one. Did you know at least one popular brand is still using lead-acid batteries? (They don’t advertise it)
Gas yard tools make no sense at all. I don't ever want to have to prime the carb, set the choke, yank on the stupid cord several times, then listen to the racket. Also, if I run out of gas, I have to get in my car and go to the gas station. If my last battery runs down, I put it on the charger and enjoy a beer while it charges.
The other necessity is computer control; not FSD for lawns, but scheduling. My street of 22 houses has 6 companies mowing 5 days a week, and homeowners some weekdays and Sunday and Saturday. Driving 5-8 miles between job sites cost $. Make them electric, but coordinate jobs and schedule sensibly between the companies.
Sheldon Steels energy from the Sun !! Just had a guest at my home annex Airbnb, plugged his Tesla Model 3 via an extension lead through the bathroom window even though we list as not having EV facility because there is a High Speed public charger down the road. Guest refused not to use the public charger because it’s “more convenient” to charge through my window !!! People like Sheldon should be locked up 😂
"It's the smell" -- one thing that is true about brushless electric mowers and other equipment: they don't contribute to ground-level ozone production and can therefore be used early in the morning without contributing to environmental caused respiratory distress. I've lost count of the number of times officials have asked that people not mow their grass or even gas up their cars in the morning hours over concern about feeding atmospheric chemical processes that lead to asthma attacks and other problems.
I can see some secondary possibilities WRT lawn care equipment► ►Interchangeable battery packs for several different types of equipment. ►Interchangeable motors for several different types of equipment ►Since many tasks require short bursts of fairly intense power, yet power packs could be swapped quickly and easily, the best choice might be supercapacitors, reducing weight and possibly allowing for longer life. ►Electric lawn care equipment might be a path toward robotic lawn care equipment, either with specialized robots or possibly tending more toward android devices. ►As time goes on, we should be thinking more about health risks for lawn care workers, mainly from exposure to chemicals and certain plant toxicities. Fewer worker, fewer work hazards (Regarding this, the phrase "avant gardener" has occurred to me, but that's somewhat tangential.)
I wish someone would produce a small (affordable) electric ride along tractor for snow removal, preferably with an Auger but a plow would also be awsome.
It would never get used enough, and snow is heavy and needs a lot of energy to move it. My big blower eats gas trying to move wet heavy snow. And that is why you have a snowblower.
@@kkarllwt they already have electric tractors, and thats the beauty of an ev. It could sit for years without any maitenance and when i need it, it fires up. In cold regions like michigan, toronto? It would absolutely get used. Especially if schools, and buisnesses purchase them. Ryobi for example has a small ride along, ev, mower with a plow. Its not ideal, but if they could expand on that platform. Make it four wheel drive, offer a tank tread add on, more substantial plow or attachable snow thrower and a simple covered cab. Companies already have that stuff for ice ride alongs, it just needs to translate over. Ryobi is a company that likes to experiment in different arenas, i think they will be the first (theyre already halfway there).
I would think he could addord to pay his employees a bit more because of his gas saving. But can we blame him for cloudy days due to him stealing all the sunshine. /sarcasm in case it wasn't obvious.
I own a lawn care company. I'm waiting for EV. So far i use only EV trimmers. We'd like to go all EV, but that's all so far. Toro EV mowers are a joke really. They made no serious attempt at a quality mower. The EV mowers are better at cutting, quieter, but too expensive and just a gas mower platform with EV attached. Maybe when they go from the ground up it will work for us. I'm certainly watching and waiting.
Reduced noise yes, also employees and others in the vicinity, do not have to breathe the toxic internal combustion fumes. Thanks Brian!
Thanks for featuring this. Now what we need is more electric garbage trucks.
I love battery/electric yard tools.
Agree I’m currently addicted I have so many ryobi products now it’s crazy
What a great company. Thanks Brian
You bet!
Another excellent video on making the correct environmental decisions. Thanks for what you do Brian. I appreciate you. Peace, Calvin.

Go EGO!
Who doesn't love a silent arborist!

I can smell the fresh cut grass from here.
🙋♂️BRIAN,SHELDON ,GREAT TO SEE IT HAPPENING, I LOVE ❤️ IT… ALL MY EGO EQUIPMENT IS STILL GOING SINCE 2019🔋🔋🔋
Can’t wait till lawn companies. Finally realize there’s a better way.
The future is zooming towards us. Get with it or get washed away.
Finally, we'll be able to hear the grass growing
just as its being cut.
Thanks Brian and the Silent Gardner. BTW I just bought some silent firecrackers...

Great practical show, Brian. Yeah I love no noise gardening too.

The cacophony of lawn equipment in the suburbs is one of the biggest downsides of living there. Fortunately I've moved to acreage in the country.
I like the mower blade conversion kit that turns it into a drone.
A terrible idea. I love it!

I didn't know either. Not at this scale at least.
His crime - Not creating franchise right now. Take my money!
Excellent business model! I have been using cordless Ryobi blower, line trimmer and mower for several years now. I will never go back to gas.
Come to the states...we like quit too.

Imagine how terrible it is to have an ICE leaf blower on your back. Not just the noise but the toxins from a two-stroke engine.

Great stuff.
For what it is worth, I have an electric mower for my postage stamp size lawn.

Lots of upsides.
👍🏿
once upon a time I tied up an electric mower trigger up and set it to go when the owner came outside to his constination 🎉
Brutal.

I hear ya. Affordable appears to be the big obstacle.

There is a reason the princes of Saudi Arabia are princes. Lawn services. 🙂

That's the kind of change you want to see in the industry!
