Hello great video as always. I believe you and I have the same semi-wide feet shape. Was the standard version not wide enough for you? How wide are your feet? I found a pair of white 44 in wide version for $279 (brand new with new boas)
I have actually worn the previous standard width EUR 44 shoes and they also fit well and were comfortable. However, the wide version gives you a bit more space which is perfect for long rides where your feet expand. If you can find a set locally I'd try them on in person. For reference, I wear US 10 wide running shoes and EUR 43 DMT shoes.
$450 for cycling shoes is ridiculous. If I’m going to spend $300 or more on shoes, I’ll take Lake any day. Bont’s might work for some people, but their pricing is nuts- and it’s hard to follow their different models. If you buy their discounted shoes they’re not returnable if you get the wrong size, so you’re stuck with them if they don’t fit. I wanted to buy them, but for $300 on “clearance” I’m not taking the chance 👎
Prices in general for cycling shoes are quite high, you can spend 400+ for Shimano S-PHYRE, DMT KR0 or Bont Vaypor shoes. The best value I've seen recently is the Bont Cycling Riot 24, it has lower-end BOA dials but nearly the same performance and it is only $219. If you can find a local Bont retailer you should be able to test fit some shoes to find the right size.
I have the 242s in 42.5 Wide but they are a just long enough if I tighten them with my heel all the way back in the cup. I have the 238s in 43 Wide and they are a bit long, even though they are on the same last. I just ordered a pair of these in 44 wide. And lastly, I had an older pair of the Bont Helix in 43 wide, but they were a bit too snug.
Thnx for a review! Recently i bought Lake shoes and the toe box is wide but very shallow. Because of my foot condition, i have to use mid height ergo insoles in conjunction with shims beneath my toes. In Lake shoes that's not possible 😢 Can you please let me know if there's a difference between toe box height within Lake vs Bont shoe? Thnx!
43 (273mm)lake wide toe box is so low it makes the shoe feel 1 size too short, bont 43(270mm) somehow feels just right due to the much higher height at the very end of toes
Same experience I just had with my new Lake 242s in 42.5W. I had a pair of 238s in 43W and they are a bit too long. Bonts have more room in my experience.

How long is your longest foot in cm? And how wide is your foot in cm?
Is the Lake CX 242 the widest with most room for toe splay?
You can look on both sites and see the exact width and length of each type of shoe in regular and wide. 👊🏼🙏🏼

@@huntersu24 Agreed, the Lake toe boxes are far too shallow. I switched to some cheap Bont Riots which I prefer because of the fit.
