Hi there. We live in Edinburgh. Next time you are over I suggest heading for the cairngorms. I don't hike at quite your AT level but I have enjoyed the extended Lairig Ghru from Blair atholl to aviemore.l (40 miles) You may enjoy a longer run on the Scottish national trail. Either way you will find the remoteness of the Cairngorms much quieter than the WHW. I have been putting off the WHW due to the busy nature. But I'm finally doing it next week just to stop the endless question as a walker here in Scotland.
They do enforce the rule on camping there was a rainvstorm when I was on conic hill and I had a warden ask me why I set my tent up(it was to get out the rainbstorm)
Thanks for bringing back memories of my West Highland Way hike last Month. Already miss it. The crowds on the rest of your hike shouldn’t be bad. Enjoy your hike and looking forward to day 2
To see the rock walls & troll bridge brought joy to me . Reminds me of your walk in England . Glad to see you back hiking. I enjoy your videos quite a bit. Scotland looks very beautiful. Enjoy the journey.
OMG Sheep!!!! Your back...Watched all your trials and tribulations on the Appalachian trail and your 2 coast to coast trails in England plus you did ..was it South Downs twice?... What a hero....Christina, I really hope you are ready for navigating the cape wrath as it is very difficult.. Hugs..Martin x
Hi Christina we have just discovered your channel and have been watching West Highland Way posts with interest. You really have added lots of detail others who have done that trail have not. Thanks so much it’s been so entertaining too. ‘Oh my word’ you sounded really English! And we also follow Girl Outdoors and Jake! Must have been fun to chat to Jake. Looking forward to catching up on all your other posts….Tim & Selina
I love your comment! Thank you! Yes, I just finished a 6-week backpacking trip hiking the West Highland Way, Cape Wrath Trail and Wainwright's Coast to Coast back to back. Ill be back soon to hike some more trails in Britain :)
It's the most enjoyable video. Brought back sp.mamy memories. You said you would be back next year. I suggest you take a look at The Devils Pulpit, a short distance off the WHW and The Lost Valley, which is stunning. It's a little further off the trail but an easy walk.
Oh i am so happy to hear!! I love Scotland so much. I will be back in April to stay for 2 months. Will be hiking the 540 miles Scottish National Trail. I hope you subscribe and follow. :)
@@hikersheep You will love the Scottish National trail , you know it joins the Cape Wrath trail but a different route you walked. I completed it back in May . Good Luck .!
Just discovered you. Well impressed with your first day on the Pennine Way. You don't look old enough to be retired, although I've done the same, retired early and started a YT channel too. Looking forward to seeing how you get on. Good luck and enjoy! Wait until you see High Cup Nick!!!
@@davesgreatescapes Hi Dave! Yea, i retired 3 years ago at age 46 after i thru-hiked the 2200-mile Appalachian Trail. The hike took 6 months and so life-changing that I decided to retire cause I realized I didnt need to have more and more money. Before that, I was materialistic.
So nice to see you on another adventure, Sheep. Miss Bobo, oh well. Did you see any Margarets yet? Any way, enjoy your thru hike. Hey, might you visit Ben Nevis? It's one of the 7 summits I believe.
Try St Cuthbert's Way. 100-kms, starts Scottish Borders town and ends Lindisfarne (holy Island) off the coast of Northumberland, England. Lindisfarne is stunning. I am in training now before trying my first trail and got inspired to try a walking holiday when I visited holy Island last year. No idea what the walk is like and it doesn't seem to be a super popular route so couldn't find too much info... thats another reason why I though it would be good. Not too many people for me to embarrass myself infront of ;)
@7:55 - 8:55 yep, I go through that at the start of a (popular) hike. I don't even think I walk that fast, but always can see I'm catching someone. Did WHW a year ago and by far, for me, the most populous one I've done and fully aware I was part of the masses.
Hi Sheep Highly recommend the Cleveland Way, Helmsley to Filey. Overlaps some of the coast to coast through the North Yorkshire Moors That’s If you have any energy left after Cape Wrath😢 Good luck❤
Oh hiiiii!!!! From Cheshire, right? Im glad you made it. I had a nice trip walking the WHW, then continuing on Cape Wrath Trail. Then I did the Wainwright's Coast to Coast for the third time. Im coming back in April for 2 months to do the 540 miles Scottish National Trail and then to either the Peak District or Southeast England. I love Britain sooo muchhhh!!! Im happy you found my channel. :) Christina
@hikersheep that's me from Cheshire. Was just watching your coast to coast look epic. I'm doing the coast to coast next year. And the Cumbria way. And west highland way again. To record the footage for my RUclips channel. I like the look of the Cape Wrath trail. It looks hard but amazing. Have fun on your next adventure. Wayne
I don't like people in front or behind. Behind for the reasons you said! In front, as it makes my competitive spirit want to overtake them! I consciously have to say "stop it..." to myself and just remember to enjoy the journey
I agree! I enjoyed my time on WHW...it wasn't a hard trek, met nice people, new friends. I think when wildcamping, I can control where I camp between towns and leave before the BnB people leave therefore it won't be too crowded
@@hikersheep we call it a fry up or an awe day breakfast 😂😂😂 I enjoyed your west highland way walk films it’s a great trail 👍 I did the race a few weeks ago in 21hours 23 minutes so was good seeing the scenery again 👌👍
great account of your hike; informative, honest, human and happy 🐕🐶🐕
This video is excellent to show it step by step and truly inspiring.

Look up a man called Tom Weir he is the one who help make the WHW his old tv shows on you tube , his statue is in Balmaha 👍🏻

What gimbal did you use?
I use a Gopro Hero 10
@@hikersheep ok. How do you make it turn around so quickly? Gimbal? Selfie stick?
@illtudjames I had to Google what a gimbal is. Lol. The Gopro comes with a mounting on a stick. I just turn it around left or right with my hand.
@@hikersheep Fab! Looking forward to watching part 3 tonight.

Only a few Margarets....not as many as England. :( I wanted to climb Ben Nevis but i am so sore and im sick. I better rest for Cape Wrath

Which umbrella do you use please? and would you recommend it?
Highlight Mountain Gear umbrella. But honestly i rarely use it in the UK. Too windy most of the time. Maybe more suited for foresty hike in the US
@ Thanks, might be useful if the sun shone a bit more often in the UK!
Im going to do the WHW in April this year over 6 days (5 nights). Hope you enjoyed it but will watch all these videos and find out.
