- Ok, this is an old Django Reinhardt classic written by Emil Stern and Henri Lemarchand.
Willie Nelson recorded it many times.
This is a not only an instrumental guitar only recording but a comparsion between the Barbera Soloist Pickup and the new classic Prismatone Pickup.
So you've got the song twice here. First with the Barbera Soloist pickup that I used from 2016 until a couple of weeks ago, when I got my Prismatone pickup. The second recording is with the Prismatone.
Now you can compare the sound. I can tell you it's hard to tell the difference first. But you get it more when you listen to it carefully.
The Prismatone is very loud compared to the Soloist, but mine has a preamp which the Soloist doesn't have.
I am very satisfied with the Prismatone and next week there will be the first "normal" song recorded with it, but I am not sure if it's really worth so much more money. You get the Soloist for about 300 Bucks, and the Prismatone with Pickup and Bridge will cost over 1000 Bucks. So if you want to have the original Pickup that Willie Nelson and Jerry Reed have/ had, then go for it. Otherwise the Soloist might be the thing to go!

Been really looking forward to this comparison! Both sound great but there is definitely some slight differences in their response to your playing.. the prismatone seems a bit richer and more responsive probably because of the pre amp. Glad you are satisfied Andy, they seem really close but I think it seems the prismatone is the winner and was worth it!
Yes, right, I think the same. I already recorded another video that I'll post next week and I think it sounds really great. Seems a bit more balanced and richer and deeper. But I won't say anything bad about the Soloist, it served me very well.
Fun fact: The luthier just rounded the corners of my new Willie style bridge without asking me LOL. He wanted to fit it the old pattern... and he colored it darker like the original bridge... well I can live with it, but oh well LOL

Hallo Andy! Die Berliner Erde hat Dich also wieder zurück ;-) Ich war schon recht gespannt auf Dein Vergleichsvideo der beiden Tonabnehmer! Also mir erscheint das Prismatone dennoch um eine Spur voller und auch etwas natürlicher - aber Du hast völlig Recht - es ist ein eher geringer Unterschied und man muss schon sehr genau hinhören um das herauszuhören. Auf alle Fälle hast Du da einen echt eindrucksvollen "Beweis" für Deine unglaubliche Spielfähigkeiten abgeliefert! Wahnsinn - da frisst mich fast der Neid ;-) Ein so "kilometerlanges" Solo derart fehlerfrei und mit soviel Gefühl vorzutragen - das wäre mit Sicherheit um einigen Stufen zu hoch für mich! Also meinen vollsten Respekt für diese Spitzen-Leistung und alle verfügbaren Daumen weit nach oben, mein Freund! Schönes Wochenende und liebe Grüße zu Dir nach Berlin! LG Hermann

Genau, das Prismatone klingt voller. Ich habe auch die gleichen Einstellungen am Amp verwendet, evtl. kann ich da noch etwas rumdrehen und bessere Einstellungen für den neuen Pickup finden.
Vielen Dank für das Lob! Der Song ist schon eine Herausforderung, aber macht auch Spaß zu spielen und trainiert gut die Fingerfertigkeit. Ich habe das schon mal gespielt vor 8 Jahren, hatte es aber zwischenzeitlich vergessen und musste es komplett neu lernen ;-).

Wish I had the grand for the prismatone because i can tell the slight difference but it is close.Of course your fantastic playing makes it harder to tell the difference. I listened to both recordings 3 x s through. Where did you get a brand new prismatone. I thought Sam Kennedy quit making them.I'm afraid I'll have to settle for the Barbara myself since being in a nursing home ,I dont get to play my guitar anymore.

The Soloist really made a fantastic job and people kept telling me it sounds like the Prismatone, and we can hear it's really close now. I think you can't do anything wrong with it.

Der 2.Pick up gefällt mir besser. Der 1. klingt wie eine Aufnahme aus den 30er Jahren von Django Rheinhardt. Letzteres ist nicht schlecht, wenn man genau so einen Klang erzielen will, aber ist eben nicht immer und überall einsetztbar. Das Spiel war sehr gut.

Moin mein Freund, wenn du uns mit deinen Songs beglückst geht dein so tolles gitarrieren etwas unter. Du spielst echt gut das ist Wahnsinn. 🫶🏼 dein Instrument beherrscht du auf jedenfall. Bei den Tonabnehmern macht der erste was er ist…Solist halt. Sehr Ton bestimmt und etwas hell. Der zweite hat mehr Druck und klingt voller. Insgesamt passt er vielleicht etwas besser zu deinem Spiel. Aber es kann nicht verkehrt sein beide Möglichkeiten zu haben. Danke für dein klasse Gitarrenspiel mein Freund. Lg Herbert ❤️🔥🤘🏻🤘🏻

Der Song ist schon ein "Fingerbrecher", aber ich liebe ja Herausforderungen, außerdem nutzt man bei dem Song alle möglichen Töne und Lagen, so dass der Vergleich viele Aspekte umfassen konnte.
