I had an encounter with my angel. It was 19 years ago this December. I know that because I was going to drive to the post office to mail Christmas cards, and I was hesitant to bring my infant son with me. The hesitation was odd in and of itself because I was nursing, and the anxiety of leaving my baby behind was immense. It was just something I never did. I went back and forth, literally from the door, to him, back to the door, and then finally left. I hadn't put my seat belt on this time and when I came to the intersection before my accident, there was a voice that said "put on your seat belt." I didn't do it right away because I was thinking about this voice. As in - Uh oh! What was that? I know it wasn't me. 😂 Then I heard it again and it sounded very insistent. So I put my seat belt on that time. At the next intersection, a car came out of nowhere and crashed into the side of my car where my son would have been. I was not badly injured, just sore, and my son was safe at home, thank God! I am so grateful for my angel. And I have to say, the more you talk to your angel, ask for help, and also thank them for every little thing, even just finding your keys, the more you will notice how much they really do help you. 💐🍷 for the algorithm gods :)
I had a very similar experience when I was in high school. Even though I was raised to look both ways before crossing, even when green, I sometimes didn't do so - not out of rebellion but because I would become very afraid in public; and so I sometimes felt unable to look to my left or right out of paranoia. I was crossing the street intersection to get to my school after waiting for the light to turn green, and I hadn't looked both ways. As I was about to step into the middle point my whole body suddenly stopped. I couldn't move and had no natural explanation that I could think of. Yet I wasn't afraid. It was a very strange and surreal experience. Time can seem to slow down in these situation - or at least our perception of it does. Suddenly, one or two steps in front of me, this vehicle just rushes by me at full speed. They completely ignored the red light? Then I could move again and I continued to cross as I tried to put the pieces together as to what just happened. Whatever it was that stopped me likely saved my life or from grave injury. At the time I wasn't Catholic, but still Christian, and thought that God had sent an angel to protect me. Now I realize that I always have my guardian angel with me. I am grateful to him. I've had many other experiences as well. But that one often comes to mind. + Guardian angels, patrons, be our mighty protection. + God bless.
Yes, contrition can be true while still being imperfect. Perfect contrition is not required to go to the sacrament of reconciliation, but true contrition is necessary.
Question on what you think of this other opinion on the Guardian Angels of the Nations possibly going bad: I've heard another opinion that what was going on is that the Angel of Persia and the Angel sent to Daniel and the Angel of Israel were all doing, or trying to act according to God's will. Not that God's will contradicts itself, but that the Angel of Persia saw that the influence of the Jews on the Persian people was bringing about conversions, at least in obeying the order of the Natural Law, if not converts to Judaism. If so, then this would be good for the Persian people, which is aligned with God's will. But I'll continue to read the Book of Daniel in meditation to try to understand what God wants to teach me and us all about that event. And if it's not important to God's purpose for my life, which I offer back to Him, then I pray that's I won't be inclined to think about it. May God bless you 🌹🙏🏻✝️
I've been following Mr Akin for many years now and I have a great appreciation for his work and he's always on my prayers so may the Holy Spirit work great things in the hearts of people through his apologetic work. I would like to respectfully point out that the Paris games opening show showed a horrific pagan scene of a dionisian banquete, that is inspired on a famous painting. That was nothing to do with Christianity. Thanks for the excellent work. May God bless you all.
I've heard that, but the problem is that the girl who was in the middle had the something resembling a "halo", reminiscing the concept of the "halo" in Christianity, we need to count too how was the camera was positioned on the Olympic ceremony, the camera was placed somewhat in the middle, in the center having the girl with the "halo". I got to confess that i have not watched the entire opening, just that infamous part. Maybe the scene was representing two things at the same time, the Last Supper and the Dionisian banquete...

Isn't repentance based on fear of punishment just imperfect repentance and still valid?
Yes, contrition can be true while still being imperfect. Perfect contrition is not required to go to the sacrament of reconciliation, but true contrition is necessary.
