I live in Tucson AZ. One day I was sitting in my truck listening to Stuart Liddell on bagpipes when to my amazement roadrunners (a bird native to the American Southwest) began landing on the roof and hood of the truck. Apparently Stuart is a hit with these eccentric birds. 🤣🤣
I'm not sure how Stuart Liddell manages to move his fingers so quickly and also make it sound like there are a couple of pipers playing at the same time. Guess that's why he's won so many world championships. :)
Bandali Tannous, "The Mason's Apron" comprises most of the video, and appears on the remix album Celtic Grooves, by various artists and produced by Ian Campbell. Rob Crabtree performed the piping on that album, which is one of my favs!
See, pipes are more or less modular. Top to bottom, you have two tenor drones and one bass drone pitched one octave below the tenors, which are one octave below the chanter; in the middle your bag of wind with the stocks tied into it carefully placed for comfort; then you have the chanter he's fingering, where the melody comes out. And we don't forget the blow-stick to supply the air. And the cloth bag cover to keep the bag dressing off your jacket if your leather bag is inclined to do that. Or go high tech and use a bag of Gore-Tex.
@@ryank1273 That being the case, 😄. Staying persnickety about your D-throw, doublings, taorluaths, and birls will really pay off. Instructors and tutors are worth the money if you hire them, as you learn accurately faster. Let's see, have I missed anything?

I highly doubt that, and even if she can, she definiatley can not do it with such precision and perfection, and if she does then why is she not a world champion, like Stuart
Remember in the old days when there was 'high speed dubbing....' Ring any bells?? Yes the man can play quickly however the irony is that the later part of this performance in my opinion is not music at all, simply noise. It's 'Look how fast I can play!' Thankfully it's each to their own.
You can have the fastest fingers in the world and produce no music! That rendition of the Masons apron and others is a gimmick he likes to pull of for the Americans, you never hear him play like that back home playing for the Duke and Scottish Lords at Inveraray Castle. . Don’t be so fast to jump out your seats next time ! Awesome it ain’t!!
Good thing there were no Dukes or Scottish Lords (I assume you meant Lairds) in the audience then... He was playing to his audience who weren't royalty, weren't in a castle or in America. And the audience (which included lots of kids) thought it was pretty awesome.
I'm a piper as well don't watch my videos please don't but i do have to say that that is quite fast but most pipers can do all songs at a speed only a slight bit slower then that
The sheet music for some of them tunes would look like barcodes
And you need faster than lightning reflexes to play them as well!
Nah, it's all just tripplings and birls... Fancy schmaltzy
Not really I have them
@@lynseymcfarland5848sorry ard
As a piper the yells were awesome but he was just warming them up. Hence jigs and reels. Loved it mate. Xx

Listen To him play the Pumpkins Fancy! Its awesome!!!
if your looking for faster try lincoln hilton or gordon duncan as this isn't very fast.
Lol
I think it's related to beat boxing.
I hear the pipes and I tear up.
Absolutely, it would be amazing to see them both playing together.
my man's shredding on bagpipes
Thank you STUART .A THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS MASTER CLASS
Incredible work!
Lord Thunderin' Jayzuz that man can play....and probably type a 40-page essay in two minutes.
Where ya from bud, east coast?
who cares about speed, the beauty is in the space and subtlety
Simply Outstanding!
A very technical and superb piper, easily the best in the world
Phone is at one percent and you got urself ready
Stuart liddle:fastest hand in the west
I play guitar but the pipes specially this kind have a very interesting tone color. I love the sound they produce.
I hope Lucas tries some pipe tunes through his guitar, particularly if it's electric.
I do pipe tunes on my saxaphone and gob-organ. But nowhere near as fast as that
gained new ideas. Thank you
Well done I love it
a great performer
Very well done 👍
Wow.... Fantastic... Champion
The guys got skills!
I’m piper and i have met him and him play at a concert
Fantastic
Dont forget Gordon Walker though,he is very quick too.
John Morrison and mat macissiac are faster than this guy
Gordon walker is my personal favorite .
OMG! I'm boggled.
It's gotten more severe. I'm going back to Piobaireachd.
Love the piping
Rockin!
who cares about speed it is the emotion and feel of the music that matters !!!
.
The crowd, that's who
Hornpipes and jigs give more feel with a fast tempo, more than slow boring tunes
Absolutely It is supposedly inspired music not a gymnastics contest.
Well, imho, Stuart has both.
Sound quality ruins it
Amazing 😉
What are the tunes
What is this second tune called?
Good heavens...
damn never seen that before
A touch of the Fred Morrison about him.
Be a good challenge for the sidh
song name pls
Holy chit, meng. 😳😲👏👍✊🤗
Gordon Duncan was quick.
Y Carlos Núñez?
Tried to get across that river but couldnt find a CROSSING excellent.
...piper pun there...
Strong hat hay hay, hay hay
bleedin hell, from another planet !!!!

What does he play just after saints go marching in?
Bailey Dickson isn’t that a part of Stars and Stripes Forever by John Philip Sousa?
Damn!
Ahh theres hope for me yet…pretty awesome
Where have i seen ur profile pic before..
Who made the pipes--or, more specifically, the CHANTER?
No one has a clue... but it was probably a drunk person who thought that a cat being squeezed sounded good!
@@ryank1273 ...and that's what you call a not-serious answer. My man wanted a chanter like it and I hope he found it.

The fastest bagpiper on the world is Carlos Nuñez
I wonder what that sheet music looks like.
Bet they wrote it in cut-time.
I wonder who is better, Stuart liddell or Gordon Duncan?
The Joker Stuart
Stuart
I suggest a bagpipe battle
I'm pretty sure that would be Alan McLeod :)
Gordon
Adequate
Was he in the army or something? His name sounds really familiar..
Movie about a mouse.
What's the song after Scotland the brave?
Jamie Brownlie when the saints go marching in
Stars and Stripes Forever by John Philip Sousa.
Well, you wouldn't want them to go TOO fast, otherwise his pipes would sound like a data modem.
My head starting to hurt :/

O problema da Escócia é que ela está cheia de escoceses.

"slightly better than average" you my friend have a skewed definition of average.
You must be a brilliant piper if you think this is “slightly better than average lol” I’m a piper myself and it’s easy to tell he’s class
How come my daughter can play as fast... She is only 14
Lucy 1:48 might not be as fast as your daughter, and just because she may be able to play it fast doesn't mean she can play it well at that speed

Bubbles hi bubbles how’s Julian and Ricky?
Such a troll.
What?
Hector Long I love it when pros play Scotland the Brave, I find it hilarious ;p
Then why did you say troll?
Hector Long lkkkkkl
Nooooo way he is the fastest piper, my instructor can play faster
do you even know who this is? Not just his name man but his history? or are you an internet piping toll.
Brian Lamond beat him. Just saying
Fastest???..... A few cock ups by the sound of it?
Nope Gordon did...that reed sounds really easy...too easy so easy that is sounds crappy..great playing though

All due respect, but speed isn't everything. Quality beats quantity.
All due respect, that is quality and speed
Stuart's one of the best pipers in the world. He has it all.
He just copies Gordon Duncan and Gordon Walker and really isn't that good at it...worst 2/4 March player I've ever heard
evedently you know nothing of real piping laddie his 2/4 marches were spot on stuart uses a different reed for competetions
Best part comes: Always a fat head gets in the way! Always!
