Here we are on another driveway cleaning job. Watch as we breath life back into this tired, old block paved driveway.
The customer had a test patch carried out by another exterior cleaning business, which they weren't too impressed with, as they were told the black spots left behind after the test patch was carried out, can't be removed.
They then called us for another quote, and as you can see, we got the job.

Thank you to everyone for their continued support of my channel, I can't tell you all how much I appreciate it.
You'll be pleased to hear, i've only added two subscribe prompts to this video, so hopefully won't be annoying anyone with them this time 🤞🤞🙂
Thanks for watching, Nick.
Love the channel and l love the subscribe prompts they are very quirky and I look forward to what prompt you will go for next 😆 🤣 😂
@@angiepaiseypinkadink Thanks Angie, you're really kind to say that. Have been getting a bit of criticism lately, I don't think it's so much the prompts themselves, more so the amount i'm using, so thinking maybe 2 per video is enough, what do you think?
@@PrestigeExternalCleaning Yes I agree, you could use more but maybe make them a bit smaller so not to block the view of your amazing work but 2 works for sure, it is always nice to get feedback from your subbies too, helps you grow your channel (not that I am an expert lol) just love your videos. You are probably one of the best at showing great views of your work and lots of information about how you get the desired finish without a lot of waffle, I like your style.

Curious what % of SH do you feel you're getting with your xjet? And if you don't mind what type of surfactant? Awesome work and representation for the surface washing industry.

Great to see someone who knows what they are doing. Other than the terrific finished product, the best bit for me was doing that wall for them. It’s this pride in your work that really impresses me. It’s so hard to find tradesmen like you that go the extra mile. Brilliant.
Wow thanks Chris, what a great compliment, and such a nice thing to say, cheers 😊😉
That's an amazing job! Looks like brand new. Well done. You can tell how much pride you take in your work and I bet the owner was delighted. I certainly would have been. 👍

Mate, nice one, what a lovely thing to say, bloody love you lee 😁😉✊
Great job, and the customer would be very pleased that fantastic difference they see in their driveway.
Hi John, thanks a lot buddy, yeah they were super pleased, got a very generous tip because of it - happy days 🙂👍
That was really therapeutic to watch! Brilliant!
Hi rupe, thanks for the great feedback, super glad you enjoyed it, many thanks 😊.
Thank you for the new vlog, enjoyed you work. Great job Nick. The driveway and wall came up beautiful.
Hi Cathy, thank you, you're very kind. Super glad you enjoyed it, all the best, Nick.
My first thought was "looks like the mildew we get on everything in Seattle (north and east facing driveways), time for bleach"
Must have been a nice feeling when you managed what the other people said couldn't be done!!! Well you have right kit and know how to use it, well done. Great to see the whole job including re-sanding, bet custy was very happy with the results - hope you left a few extra business cards for custys friends :-)
Hey Ched, thanks matey. Yeah custard was over the moon. Yep, left a few cards with'em, got contacted the other day from a neighbour from doing that, and got that job too, great result, Thanks again mate 👍🙂

Aaww Angie, you're such a lovely lady, thank you. You're really are giving me a big head now, bless you 😊.
Hi, really impressed with the speed of your jobs.. I’ve started cleaning some of my existing customers driveways using the same chemicals but with a knapsack...it’s taking far to long ... can you advise what equipment I need to buy that mixes the ratios you use and gets the product down quickly?? Ive been asked if I can do some of their roofs as well, I’ve seen a pole system you have used on other videos can you point me in the right direction please... great videos by the way.. top work!! 👊🏼👊🏼

Wow thanks Fred, what a great compliment, it's really nice of you to say, cheers buddy 👍👍🙂.
Lovely transformation! Cleaned like a true professional. I liked the fact that you not only sprayed the driveway but softwashed the side wall brick too. Amazing video nick!

Cracking video pal and a great job as always. I've just started out and your advice and comments have really helped me. Am saving now for a Dostram but in the meantime i have a trusty watering can and brush. Just trying to get my mix right so I don't have to re-apply. I am finding 2 pts water to 1 Hypo with surfactant is doing the job even on filthy concrete.
Hey buddy, thanks very much, that means a lot, top man. Yeah i'm in the process of saving for a new pressure washer, it never ends bud, we'll always want something bigger and better than what we've got 😁.
Nowt wrong with a watering can and brush mate, it gets the job done, and that's all that matters. I still use a bucket and brush when I need to, sometimes the old ways are still the best ways 👍. Yeah that's a good mix bud, always better to get it done in one go in my opinion, so you don't have to go over it again, time is money as they say. 👍👌
Insane how amazing that was to watch AND that is the best sanding video I've seen you do 🤗🤯
Great work mate - crazy to think there’s businesses out there that say black spot can’t be removed from block paving! I can never get my head round it.
Great job, great footage - well done bud 👍🏻
Hi buddy, thanks for your great comments mate, it's really nice of you to say. Completely agree, it's just laziness in my opinion, it's not exactly a well guarded secret to use hypo to remove black spot, like it was years ago, a simple google or RUclips search would have told them how to remove it - unbelievable. Thanks again mate 🙂.
@@PrestigeExternalCleaning my pleasure mate - keep up the good work! 👍🏻

Hiya mate, yeah absolutely hate it when that happens. I don't know if you noticed, but just as I was about to start sanding on this job, a few little rain spots started to fall for a few seconds, but then stopped. I was like "wahaay, quick get this bloody sand in sharpish before it starts again", i was super lucky, as on the way home it hammered down. Thanks a lot buddy, hugely appreciate great feedback like that 👍. Couldn't agree more on the cowboys, lucky for business's like ours - they never last. Thanks again 🙂.
Nice job again as always mate. Gotta agree with Ben, getting creative with those angles, nice touch. Am I right in saying the tub with the hypo is neat and then the proportioner you chose on the x jet moderates how much hypo is released to mix with water running through the pressure washer? Or am I totally wrong!!🤣
Yep, you're completely spot on mate on the X-Jet, got it in one.
Big thanks for mentioning the angles, i'm trying to stand out from the crowd, and though that might be a good way to go about it. Only trouble is it adds on quite a bit of time to the job i'm doing, so cutting it close with the amount of time i allow for each job. Cheers Neil, Top man 👍👍🙂

Thank you Felipe, it's great to hear such positive feedback, and it's much appreciated, top man 👍🙂
That's a proper job well done 👍 just a shame the drive it self wasn't layed very well.
Great video , just got a x-jet , do you use it open or with a colours tip for a drive and black spot like this,am a bit jubious on if it will dilute correctly, been using a rolltek softwash pump for years and all batch mixed from tank so the whole x-jet is new to me
Hiya Colin, thanks very much. iIve only just recently bought myself a Roltek softwash unit, it's sitting in my lock up waiting to go on my van mounted set-up that's a work in progress. Can't wait to get it set up.
I've always found the x-jet to be pretty good, I can't vouch for how accurate it really is, but i've always found by following the chart it comes with, it seems to be about right. I will use it open if the black spot is particularly bad, or i'm using crappy old hypo, but mostly I use the grey proportioner, which says it gives a 3 or 4 to 1 mix with my particular PW, and that always seems to work well on most jobs. I hope this helps mate 👍🙂
Love these videos pal, reading through the comments makes me realize how much there is to learn. Are there courses you would recommend for pressure washing startup's including the safe use of chemical's?
Hi Phil, thank very much buddy. I've not been on this course myself, but this one is supposed to be quite good (so i've heard and read) www.softwashtrainingsolutions.co.uk/ 👍
That was a lot of hard work.
Yes indeed

What a fantastic job I live in South Wales and have a huge drive I’ve got a Karcher but doesn’t do the job like you do. Can you tell me what machine you are using please and does it run off a domestic tap.
Thank you
Hi Keith, many thanks for the great feedback mate 👍. Here's a link to the machine I use www.rutlandpumps.com/watertek-pro-honda-gx390-21lpm-200-bar-mazzoni-pressure-washer.html
Unfortunately no, pressure washers like this don't tend to run off a domestic tap, as the water supply normally can't keep up with the pump, so what most of us guys that do this for a living do, is use a water reservoir, like a wheely bin or similar. We'll feed the hose into the reservoir (bin), fill it up, then the pressure washer sucks it out with the hoses it's supplied with. I hope this helps 👍
Just stumbled on your video, it was great to see.
Welcome aboard!
Great job mate. Can I ask what your set up is with your camera and mount when it's mounted to the broom and jet wash?
Those 'turbo nozzles' are must for anyone thinking of doing this. Probably does the job a quarter of the time without one.
Couldn't agree more bud, definitely an essential part of the pressure washers tool kit 👍👍 🙂

Afternoon Nick when you are using the XJet do you run your machine on full revs and turn the pressure right down to mix the chems correctly., using my new xjet tomorrow and looking forward to it.

Hey Jason, yep spot on mate, full revs and turn the unloader right down to it's lowest setting. Good luck with it mate, you'll be fine, it takes a little getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, you'll never want to be without it. Top man, cheers mate 👍🙂
Love my Xjet, great when pressure washing to not have to lug another machine around too
Couldn't agree more!
Very smart
Thanks a lot mate 👍🙂.
hi when applying hypo with a x jet is the hypo at full strength and just dilutes when you apply through the pressure washer thanks
Hi Gavyn, it's neat 15% hypo in the drum bud, which then mixes with the water from the pressure washer. The X-Jet comes with little plastic proportioners, that the operator changes over to suit the dilution level (%) they require.
Great video. I want to do a small area of paving at home what softwash would you recommend?
Hi Bishop, thanks very much. Sodium hypochlorite will do the trick 👍
Great video.....does the hypo not kill plants and grass if it comes into contact when rinsed off?
Hi Dex, thanks very much 👍. When the hypo is rinsed off thoroughly, it's highly diluted down, so if done properly, it won't cause any problems with plants or grass.
Hi, great video and great results.
I have SH, ready to use. Would it be as effective using through a garden pump sprayer do you think?
Yeah that'll be fine mate, lots of people apply it that way 👍. Watch out for leaks though, as standard seals won't last long with hypo.
@@PrestigeExternalCleaning do you always use the pressure first, then use Hypo after?
Good job. First power washing video I've watched where its finished off with the sand to seal the gaps making it look even better.
Hi Ros, that's really nice of you to say, huge thanks 🙂.
Hey good job ive tried to get these off before now with a steamer and still couldnt do it! What did you use as the shampoo? Cheers

Thanks Steve, yes it's harmful to plants unless the plants are thoroughly rinsed down pre and post treatment. 👍

Hi Luther, thanks very much, you're very kind to say, and thanks for subbing 👍🙂. I use 15% SH in the drum, but the x-jet mixes it to a 4% strength. Welcome to the business bud

It's Lichen I've had those black and white Lichen spots, got rid of mine 😊
👍🙂
Do you just use a normal kiln dried sand or a type that prevents weeds?
Just normal kiln dried sand.
Tumbs up, did you use sand to complete the gap betwen blocks?
Hi Luiz, thanks very much 🙂. Yes it was kiln dried paving sand 👍.
Great job, looks great. The question I have is. what is the X Jet and how does it work/set up wise? I see a hose is connected to the gun and the container? thanks
Hi Clive, thanks very much 👍. The x-jet is just a nozzle that attaches to a trigger, which attaches to high pressure hose. The x-jet comes with a hose that is fitted to the xjet then fed into the chemical drum, when it's all connected, the water from the pressure washer passing through the trigger and xjet nozzle, acts as a vacuum and sucks the chemical from the drum and mixes it to the desired strength with little plastic, changeable proportioners.

It Stabilises the blocks
👍👍👍👍
Thank you Kenneth, top bloke you are 👍👍🙂
What product and hardware did you use to make the foam?
X-jet & surfactant
Hey man, when you have the hypo in the bottle like that and use the jetX, is it pure hypo with some surfactant in the bottle or is it watered down hypo and surfactant solution in the bottle? Also how many litres per minute does it draw from the bottle??
It's neat hypo in the drum, the x-jet withdraws the required amount through the proportioner that the user chooses, and mixes it with the water from the pressure washer hose. I'm not aware of any way to accurately measure the amount of hypo being drawn from the drum, because it will vary depending on what machine is being used, what flow it's got and how much pressure is being used.
@@PrestigeExternalCleaning Awesome thanks for the great info :D
Anything is possible when you have the sensible quicker & right tools for the job. Why take ages with a silly small area spray lance like I've seen lots & lots do.when you can just make things alot easier for yourself by using a more powerful spinner jet device.bigger area covered and quicker to do the job and even more thoroughly aswell. WOULD VERY HAPPILY HAVE YOU DO MY DRIVEWAY ANYDAY.
Hi Todd, wow what a great compliment. I really appreciate your kind words bud 😉, many thanks 🙂 👍
What type of sand did you use to cover in ?
Kiln dried sand
Don't you worry that the blocks aren't fully dried in the joints as its not been that warm this month
No bud, as long as the top of the blocks are dry and the sand isn't picking up moisture as i'm sweeping , i've never found it to be an issue, it always falls in perfectly. Sometimes i'll gently wet the blocks after sanding just to settle the sand in, so if there's an issue, it will show and any unfilled gaps then, but i've never known that to happen. Give it a go bud, it's always worked for me 👍.
As long as it works for you all good we sand on the same day but only if its above 20 degrees and we go over the joints with a blower aswell just to make sure 👍
But what about applying sealant to seal the blocks and, importantly, the jointing sand between them?
We don't offer that as a service, we simply clean the blocks and replace the kiln dried sand that was lost during the cleaning process. If the customer wants it sealed, we respectfully ask them to contact someone else, or apply it themselves.
I wonder if salt was added to the sand when it is being replaced between the brick, would it deter weeds from growing. Just wondering.
Hi Julia, I have a friend that does that, and he says it works great, so great idea from you 🙂👍
Hey question. I have a pressure washer but it can’t seem to get rid of bat poop stain , any hints on how to clean it properly please
Poo stains can be very difficult to remove, sometimes it's impossible. Try oxalic acid, that might work.

@@PrestigeExternalCleaning thanks mate I really appreciate that!
Hi we are cleaning our own drive - Wev used the pressure washer and it’s looking nice and clean in the surface but the grime had washed back into the crack so it’s pointless us putting the sand in now as the soil is still there !!! How can we get all the soil from the cracks - is it just a case of more cleaning and rinsing (it hasn’t been done for 18yrs )
The aim is not to remove everything down the gaps, it's just to replace what you've taken out after you've pressure washed, with sand. So thoroughly pressure wash, have a good rinse down, then re-sand once dry. It doesn't matter if theres a little bit of dirt in the gaps, you'll never completely get rid of all the dirt, just try and get most of it out, then re-sand 👍
@@PrestigeExternalCleaning ooops I think we jet washed the hell out of it !!! No wonder the lane we are on was thick with sludgy mud when we finished 🥴!!!
