    Thank you for the review, it's hard to find a lot on this unit specifically. I wanted to mention that this device is really meant for very specific use cases. Folks mostly disappointed (or upset) by it are comparing it to a room air conditioner, which this thing is not nor ever was. One major use case for this is for anyone who works in a semi-vented environment and have to deal with high heat. If you work in the garage with a lot of chemicals for example, you have to leave the door open to vent fumes. But it also means you're going to be at the mercy of hot or muggy air with nothing to cool you down than a fan. This device helps alleviate a lot of that by specifically cooling down an extremely small area in front of it - so think of it as a personal fan with cold air. There's another device called the "Coolzy Pro" from Australia made with the same exact concept and use case.

      That's an interesting idea. Unfortunately I purchased this to review it back in June 2024 because I thought it was cool (excuse the pun 🤪) , but I didn't have a specific need for it. So I passed it on to someone who needed it and can no longer make video content on it.

    Finally a review on this! I spotted this as coming soon on Amazon a few months ago & it definitely has had me intrigued, I have and have had several portable ac units so I'm very familiar with them, I wondered about the hot air exhausts on this because they say no windows needed & I was like hmm that will not work well but I can see it definitely has its niche and you summed it up well. I think it's currently overpriced though! I saw it on bed bath and beyond for around 200.. 399 is just to much though anyhoo I'm thinking about it for certain area like hot hallway or something else in a pinch but waiting for lowest price, thanks for reviewing it!

    A tiny ac!
    I have a liking to small portable ac units.
    So many folks miss that these are PERSONAL ac units, meaning they ONLY cool you, not your space, and have noticed unrealistic expectations comparing it to an industrial ac unit thats over 20,000 btu unit.
    I have no such expectations, and therefore am extremely satisified with my units.
    I keep looking for even smaller and smaller units.
    I read its around 20 lbs.
    How have you managed moving it around?
    China made one that weighs 11 lbs, and I really want that one, but i cant get it here in the states, unfortunately.

    • @alderandjade
      @alderandjade  2 месяца назад +1

      Thank you for understanding and explaining to others what this AC is meant for! I almost removed this video as it seems so many people expect the world from it and I didn't want to let anyone down, but it is a great AC for what it is meant for!
      I lug around products that are much heavier than 20 pounds all the time so I honestly don't think about the weight much. It has a nice handle and is a slim shape so I'll admit that I hadn't even considered the weight as a factor in whether or not to buy it, but that makes a lot of sense. Getting one that is only 11 pounds and works comparably would be impressive!

    • @alderandjade
      @alderandjade  3 месяца назад

      A loud fan is concerning. The not blowing cool air and warm exhaust *might* mean that it has been on it's side in the past 24hrs. Usually ACs needs to stay upright and - if they get put on their side - need 24-48hrs upright before they'll work correctly. I believe this is so the oil in the compressor settles.

    • @alderandjade
      @alderandjade  3 месяца назад

      @@IronHokie Then yours isn't working correctly. But, like I've said in other comments, this is closer to an evaporative AC than a standard AC. It's designed for small spaces or as a focused cool fan blowing directly at you.

      @alderandjade  4 месяца назад +1

      Nice find!! It has good airflow, but I wouldn't say super strong. But it is quite cold air. I would think about where you want it to vent to get the most out of it. I personally still think it's better as a focused AC on you as you're at your desk, in the kitchen, etc than an AC that will fully cool a space so I'm very curious how your test goes! I hope you like it too!

      The AC is ‎8.23"D x 9.84"W x 18.98"H - I'd estimate the box/packaging added roughly 2" to the Depth and Width and 6" to the Height. So it's probably about 10"D x 12"W x 25"H...but that's only an estimate.

      That's super annoying. I'd reach out to Black+Decker or return it as it sounds like you got a flawed one. My only other guess is that maybe it was on it's side and needs to sit upright for 24hours. These have coolant in them so they don't handle being on their sides well.

    • @alderandjade
      @alderandjade  4 месяца назад +2

      Really?! That doesn't make any sense. It sends out a ton of cold air from the vents. I found the real challenge for this is that it's designed for tiny or focused spaces and works best if you can send the exhaust pipes out of the space you're in. Like I said in the video.
      Another thing to keep in mind with all portable ACs is that they are limited. If your space is already over, say, 90 degrees, something small like this isn't going to make a dent. But if you put it in a small space and work to keep the space below 74, you have a better chance of it holding temp. Even our 14,000BTU LG window AC has a hard time when we let the space get too hot and can't get the room below 72ish on super hot days even when running full blast.
      This is a 1,000 BTU AC without exterior exhaust pipes. It is going to be much more limited and is designed for specific applications.
      I'm really sorry I let you down. I try to be as clear as I can in these videos. I do think this AC is far better than the evaporative ACs that it is designed to compete against. If your AC isn't sending out cool air, then there might be a problem with it. If it was tipped on it's side, it needs to be upright for 24hrs before use or the air compressor won't cool.

      @@alderandjade you’re using it in a slightly warmer room than the whole house. In that environment it’ll work JUST LIKE A REGULAR FAN. This thing will not cool a hot room this thing only useful purpose is a dehumidifier. If you want to cool your room to the same capabilities spend 10% and get a fan there’s really no difference

    • @alderandjade
      @alderandjade  Месяц назад

      @@merlesvideoandphotography5931 There is actually a huge difference. I have a huge box fan (that just blows the air around) and have used an evaporative AC (which was better than the box fan) in the past. This is quite a step up from those two as it is an actual AC even though it has low BTUs. And I wasn't using it in a slightly warmer room. I was using it in an 79F attic room with poor insulation.
