- Every "Dumb Street" from season 3 & 4 of Fast Forward. Dumb Street is mainly a send up of the early years of Home & Away but also features characters from A Country Practice.

The funny thing is that these parodies were actually more entertaining than the soaps they made fun of (with better acting, too. LOL)
I always found them boring, including Home & Away which is what Australians seem to favor the most. My mother used to watch A Country Practice back in the day, and I was never interested in watching it with her.

This is exactly how the real shows appear to me.
Love this show and always have. Fast forward was my favorite comedy in my late teens and early 20s. Watching it again it reminds me of the terrible acting in ‘friends’. Im sure if friends was around at the time they would have sent it up too.
This was my stress release for such shit shows as E- Street Neighbors and f***ing Home and Away.🤣

Dumb Street is the one Australian Soap Opera to mock them all!
As the theme music suggests, Dumb Street is a parody of every single soap on Aussie TV at the time (although the opening sequence is a parody of the H&A opener at the time)
The main characters of Dumb Street were based on H&A characters. Shelley played by Marg Downey is based on Marilyn Chambers, Jane Turner's character is based on Bobby Simpson, Magda's character is based on Carly Morris, Gina Riley's character Dannii is based on Emma Jackson (who was played by Dannii Minogue).
Ramsay St Clinic is a Neighbours reference. Craig Donovan = Craig McLachlan (Neighbours and Home and Away) and Jason Donovan (Neighbours).
Donovan appears here in the opening titles sequence.
Bob Hatfield and Dr Elliot are references to A Country Practice. Reverend Bob is a reference to E Street.

My Scottish boarder was totally addicted to Neighbours and when she returned home she would phone me regularly to find out what was happening-Britain was months behind Australia😮So I felt compelled to watch it cause she was a good friend-even though I thought Neighbours was absolute crap😢Like all soapies really!!Cheers 😊😊
My mother lived with me between 2021 and 2022 and watched Home and Away religiously. If you take away the laugh track, there’s very little difference. This could be a homage rather than a parody. It’s uncanny.

Many Brits loved the old Australian soaps. But then again Coronation Street has been going for 200 years. So that doesn't say much about British taste.

Steve Blackburn who had played the highly popular Tim of "Tim and Debbie", in the earlier Australia You're Standing In It.
The American comedy program Saturday Night Live totally stole this with their The Californians skits. The same vacant reaction looks and final dumb looking at camera stuff.
I'm pretty sure SNL was sending up General Hospital, The Young & The Restless etc well before this.
