- Abigail... Abigail...
Welcome to my Abigail movie review, where I delve into the latest cinematic sensation that will unfortunately go under the radar. “Abigail” is a 2024 horror thriller directed by the dynamic duo of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, this film weaves a tale that is as intriguing as it is chilling.
The plot of “Abigail” centers around a seemingly innocent ballet dancer named Abigail, portrayed by the talented Alisha Weir. However, beneath her poised exterior lies a dark secret that a group of unwitting criminals are about to discover. The cast also includes the likes of Melissa Barrera, Dan Stevens, Kathryn Newton, Will Catlett, Kevin Durand, Angus Cloud, and Giancarlo Esposito, each delivering performances that are sure to captivate and terrify in equal measure.

The shutting windows straight out of House on Haunted Hill
I saw a few clips floating around on tt and thought the movie looked ridiculous enough to give it a try.
Not only was I not disappointed, I was pleasantly surprised.
The ambiance of the movie was gorgeous and the story, while predictable, was decently fleshed out. A very decent 5,8/10.
Yeah, I wasn't keen from the trailer. It was the cheesy dialogue of the girl being a ballerina vampire... But it was better than the trailer suggested
@@thecomplexindividual The trailer read "cheesy monster flick" and while I did find most of the special effects quite cheesy, the movie itself was pretty good despite that.
one thing i really didnt like about this is the marketing being a major spoiler. the first HOUR of the movie keeps the identity of the girl a mystery yet all of the marketing shows her as a vampire. would have been cool if it was a surprise but you see the 'twist' from a mile away because you saw the poster and the literal first seconds of the trailer. if youre going to spoil it upfront just start the story, teasing the mystery is just wasting time.
other than that i thought it was great
100%
It reminded me of from dusk till dawn, how can you hide from the genre changing.
I think Barbarian's trailer was smart promotion for the film. Just stick to the first act
I want to see Matilda on a rampage 😂 Brilliant review as always!
Thanks bro... Matilda goes hard
She did a great job making this movie a success. So young but full of talent. Abigail 2 has to be considered. The movie did not make a lot of money, but I think it's because it wasn't pushed via the media networks.
It's difficult to promote when it's a heist movie for half the movie, then switches to a full blown vampire gorefest. I would've gone down the route of barbarian, where you only got footage of the first half hour in the trailer
Your editing is so good man
Thank you doublemint
I loved this movie but I don’t know how you can make a sequel when the lead will be older each year and she won’t look or sound the same…
Good point. I guess they'll either change the actor or use some kind of CGI
Don't worry about a sequel there will be something else next year
That little girl is very talented
100%
Another awesome vid bud 👍
Thank you my man
I'm not sure it would be possible since they have to market the film but wouldn't it have been great if we hadn't been told up front in the marketing that Abigail was a vampire? Then when the team starts getting taken out mysteriously, we follow different red herrings until finally holy crap what a reveal the kid is a vampire!!
This is an dam awesome movie Abigail is a kewl vamp
crap film with a awful performance by mellisa barrera who has such a limited acting range and plays the same character in every movie. she ruined this movie. She can’t act to save her life. she was suppose to be a former junkie as well. hilarious. boring girl boss crap where all men are treated like fools. yawn. 5/10
Can't please everyone, thanks for your input though.
