JL green beach cover-up dress was also worn by Gerry Halliwell ( ex Spice Girl ) who i think wore it slightly better but yes it still looked like a beach cover-up lollll.
Am I the only one who thinks the huge, chunky platform shoes are just a big fashion NO under any formal circumstances (or really any informal circumstance)? For me they make even a good dress immediately look cheap and very middle school. Eeek - really thought Selena Gomez’s dress did her figure zero favors. Reese and Taylor were wins for me. Thanks for another great presentation!
Agreed. I think that dress opened the floodgates to the barrage of "nakedness is better than class" we've been inundated with since. The only people who should be happy about that dress and the tacky trend it inspired is the body tape manufacturers.
@@zeldabaker1331 No kidding.!!! If she had had a narrower V neckline she could have gotten away with how low it went down. I can’t stand the dresses with necklines that plunge to the waist. They are so trashy. By the way, I love what you are wearing in this video. The colour and neckline are really lovely.
I don’t love deep plunging neck lines. I’m all for a V-neck dresses, but I think deep plunging necklines take away from the quality of a dress. Nothing is left to the imagination.
@@valeriewestbrooke2813I feel exactly the opposite 🙂. Deep plunging necklines look vulgar to me when the lady is busty, because obviously, you'll be seeing a lot of boob. It looks much more elegant on someone with little cleavage.

Enjoyed this post very much. Green can be a touch color to wear as your examples demonstrate! The worst "dress" was that JLo dress that looked like beach wear. I don't care for those very low cut dresses where you need to worry about a boob popping out at any moment....It's simply not right. Very good post.....thank you
Beebs, I really love your breakdowns of fashion. Nothing is ever a total loss! Feel my eye is more educated when I look a fashion and that is due to your clear teaching. Thank you!
I really like Elle Fanning's green dress. To me, it fits the theme of the movie that she was promoting as she was one of the main cast. As for JLo, her Versace dress would only work if she was going to a beach/resort, otherwise it wasn't appropriate for that event.
I caught on right away, even though I never saw any "Maleficent" movie, because I know Disney's Sleeping Beauty. Ms. Fanning's dress evoked the Princess Aurora, raised by the three good fairies in a cottage deep in the forest, as one with nature and with the woodland critters as her friends.
I love the color of the dress Lupita N wore! It's gorgeous one her. I just dont like the plunge to belly button waistline. I think I imagine it would feel chilly to wear! Lupita and Sarah would have been better served even with a sheer panel inset. I can't wait till the overdone plunge is done.
Every time I see Reese Witherspoon, all I can think of is her asking that police officer”do you know who I am?” She was trying to get out of a DUI, but failed miserably. When celebrities try throwing their weight around it stays with them for a very long time and Reese must learn to live that down.
I loved the books the Chronicals of Narnia in my youth. Everytime I see a woman with flowing hair and a sparkling green dress all I can think of is the Lady of the Green Kirtle, who morphs into a green serpent.

Thanks Beebs, I’ll look more closely at what Angelina is wearing in future. I think that the Sarah Poulton (sp) dress is lovely but I agree about the 3/4 sleeves. They seem to be too casual and it would have been better with either no or long sleeves. ( just what I think ). Elle Fanning's dress looks a bit like a costume for Ophelia , yes , surprising for Gucci, normally having clearer lines. I love your videos, and agree with all you say about the clothes, which I could talk about until the cows come home. My least favourite was the lime green mini dress, I thought that it was quite ugly.
I've often disliked strapless gowns but couldn't explain why. You have described a few reasons where they don't work and now I understand my feelings. For a favourite gown I am going to choose Reese Witherspoon's chevron satin dress.
I simply adore green - but! like many other comments, it IS THE HARDEST color to get exactly right. When it IS right, it is simply gorgeous, but done wrong is soooo wrong💚
Taylor Swifts dress was held up by the nude sheer halter style top. I prefer that to the full off the shoulder. The only successful off the shoulder to me was Reese Witherspoon's because it had upward curve and looked intentional.
It seems like not even couture houses can't do boning properly any more. The problem with the off the shoulder dresses is that they have no foundation built in.
My favorite is Resse’s dress- great color and fit. Best shade of green goes to Zendaya. Sarah Paulson dress would be better if it fit her figure more snugly. Emma Stone looks classy in chartreuse, love the back but the front looks a little plain to me even with the high slit. Love your videos. Thank you!
I dont like the short ones that much and to me the worst is Selena Gomez's lime green mini dress. Even though the shoes match perfectly. Just no. No no no. But I'm in love with the dress that Lupita Nyong'o wore. Yes, it had a bit too much embellishment at the top but I still love it. The way the fabric floats on air. It gives her all the space to move and molds to her body. Just beautiful and so feminine.
Please do not hate on me but i don't think Selena's dress fits her chest which is why it looks a bit small and i think she has been having a bit of an issue with this in quite a few of her strapless dresses here lately which is a shame cause she is so pretty and i loved her most recent dress that was nude with the deep redish purple markings all over it but i kept worrying that her tatas where about to be shown 😬
I think the dress is a size too small. It cuts her bust in half, with that side shot you can see her belly protruding. (Bellies are fine, just not being hugged in green satin) A larger size would have given her body the space to move and not show every lump and bump. It would have given her bust the room to fit smoothly. It would have also given her that little bit of length in the hem she needed.
I agree. I thought the dress was a poor choice for someone with a fuller, more voluptuous figure. Too much boob oozing out at the top, too short for someone with rather meaty legs, and the satin showed off her stomach rather unflatteringly as well. I sometimes think these celebrities either don’t listen to stylist advice, or they simply don’t look at themselves critically in the mirror. I’m sure she could have got something far more flattering for her rubenesque figure that wouldn’t have broken the bank. Oh dear😬😬😬
I agree. The dress was way too small for her and too tight and way too short. I hope she didn't bend over in this dress. From the front the girls would have escaped and from the back her butt cheeks would have said "surprise!"

Hi Beebs! Love your videos ❤ can you do a video on classic elegance featuring Carolyn Bessett-Kennedy, Jackie Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn, etc. Thanks so much! Great green dresses!
When viewers ask to see videos on other well known celebrities while viewing the videos being shown now, I get the feeling they don’t like the ones being shown at this time. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Beeb's videos and would love to see her take on classic elegance! It's a COMPLIMENT to her fashion advice and video production. I loved this video, too- in case you missed it!
I love the Sarah Poulson dress .. she really can look quite awful without much effort. This green beauty, while not a safe choice suits her minimal hair, giving her a feminine, almost whimsical look. The three quarter sleeve and the line of the plunge do work beautifully to highlight her decollatage. She looks very feminine, which is not a look we see on her. Love the pose on the chaise with heels in hard. .. imo ..one of the best looks Ive seen her in ..❤😊
Green seems like it's incredibly difficult to get exactly "right". I think my favorites of this set were Reese's and Dakota Fanning's. Great breakdown as usual, Beebs. Happy Friday! ❤
Elle Fanning does look like a little woodland sprite ... so delicate and pretty. I wonder if making it brighter would have gotten dangerously close to Ren Faire wear, though.
My favourite are Reese's & Taylor's green dress. Perfectly fit and gorgeous on them. Love your video Beebs and I found myself nodded in agreement to your comments on these dresses. 😂
These dresses are great, I liked most of them, the problem I find here is that none of these women actually wore the green shade that fit them best. Ex.: Selena and Lupita are clearly more on the cool side of the palette (deep winter is my guess for them) and they were using extremely warm greens. An Reese's choice is the best of them all, but is too dark and deep when she is clearly more on the cool muted side. The only ones that actually wore their colors were Taylor and Julianne.
I love green dresses,I personally own far too many, I love anything green really. Some of these are beautiful but for me the best green dress worn at awards ceremony is Joan Woodward in 1958. She made the dress herself and it cost about 100 dollars. She won an Oscar that day and its just soo elegant and very feminine.
You look so pretty today in the brown top Beebs👏🏻💕. I have to say that I oddly love the Dakota Johnson dress for some reason, the green really looks stunning on her 💚 I’m really and truly over the overexposure ie. JLo and all the naked “let me show you everything” 😯dresses….
Wow, that top is a fantastic colour for you. Great video as usual for me it’s Julianne Moore, I love her hair and skin tone with the green dress. Stunning. Thank you again for your hard work on creating this beautiful video 🙏❤️
I liked very few of the dresses, and green is my favorite color. I thoroughly enjoy hearing what you have to say about the dresses. I really disliked the bodice dress, and it’s my favorite shade of green. I think Jennifer Lopez’ dress was the worst.
Emma Stone looks very good in the chartreuse. And I agree 100% with your opinion of the asymmetrical chignon - from the front. But for that over-the-shoulder shot it is PERFECT. 😅
100% agree with you Beebs about Zendaya's dress. It's stunning but looks like it's falling down a bit with the bodice sitting so low. I always enjoy your videos so much!❤
Surprised to hear you say you love the top of Reese Witherspoons's dress! Yes the diagonal silky panels work so well on her frame, but the top entirely spoils the look, IMO. Its so low it pulls the dress down, and the sleeves (despite being fluttery) are so heavy compared to the sleek silhouette in the rest of the dress. Just my view! Thanks so much for another interesting and insightful video, love watching you and hearing your critiques ❤
Beebs loved the green dress video - my favorite was Reese Witherspoon. It was perfect on her. Least was JLO seriously why ???? not a fan of the dramatic plunging neckline. Makes a person look trashy. Being a redhead not all shades of greens are perfect colors to wear and you need to find the most flattering shade. I have learned so much from you and am looking forward to your next video.
I think you might have missed my favorite green dress , it was worn by Catherine for I believe earth shot last year or the previous. It was just perfect.
#1 Zendaya, #2 Taylor Swift. Worst, that black bows & too short dress. Oh, I want to get my hands on it & fix it. The dress I wanted to like but couldn’t… the ethereal, woodland faerie dress. Wanted to get my hands on that & fix it too! I love green, it’s my favorite! I especially loved it on Julianne Moore. I just didn’t love her dress. Thank you Beebs! You have such class & are so kind! It’s refreshing!! Love from Oregon ♥️ Jess
Ok, I agree with your analysis on the green dresses. What I would like to know is, where did all the jewelry go? Some of the less attractive gowns could have been fixed with the addition of a necklace, earrings or a brooch.
Zendaya had another green dress that was MUCH better and prettier than the one you showed! I absolutely cannot believe you left that one off your list! It was breathtaking.
I love Julianne Moore's dress. I would have probably gone with a portrait neckline or even shoulder straps covered by the drapey sheer fabric. That would have made it perfect and so much more comfortable to wear
Re: Emma Stone- I am a redhead like Emma Stone and we are some of the few people I think look well in puke green. I think she knocked it out of the park.
I'm a brunette but I do like that color. It has an earthy vibe. The Crayola medium grass greens don't do anyone favors. Jolie couldn't pull it off. Paulson's was much darker. Reese's dress was the best.
I like the way you are positive with your comments rather than insulting. Thank you for your good manners.

Dakota Johnson’s tress is a lovely shade of bile. As a surgical resident, I’ve seen that color way too often.

Better than a bile duct injury right Dr.?

Reese and Taylor were wins for me. Thanks for another great presentation!
I agree! Those chunky platform shoes are not for evening. 😊
I agree too. There was one pair where the shoe was just horrendous. The sole looked to be almost 6 inches thick. 'Shudder'
I just do not like this J Lo Versace dress it is just tacky...
Agreed. I think that dress opened the floodgates to the barrage of "nakedness is better than class" we've been inundated with since. The only people who should be happy about that dress and the tacky trend it inspired is the body tape manufacturers.
Agree. It’s inappropriate and screams, look at me, look at me. That part isn’t particularly surprising.
So agree it’s just tacky.
Tacky too revealing

I think you might have missed my favorite green dress , it was worn by Catherine for I believe earth shot last year or the previous. It was just perfect.
She wore in 2022 at Earthshot in Boston, and it was rented.
Yes, that fabulous light lime green. It was perfect.
Jennifer Lopez apparently didn't understand two sided tape
#1 Zendaya, #2 Taylor Swift. Worst, that black bows & too short dress. Oh, I want to get my hands on it & fix it. The dress I wanted to like but couldn’t… the ethereal, woodland faerie dress. Wanted to get my hands on that & fix it too! I love green, it’s my favorite! I especially loved it on Julianne Moore. I just didn’t love her dress. Thank you Beebs! You have such class & are so kind! It’s refreshing!! Love from Oregon ♥️ Jess
Love the Sarah Paulson dress 👗
You are pretty impressive with you critique! Well done!
My favs were Reese and Zendaya. Gorgeous!
I love Emma Stones dress, hair everything!! Reese Witherspoon looks amazing in that dress!!
Fab video as usual 👌 but what happened to HRH Catherine's green dress?
Love your top/dress; that brown is gorgeous!
