Older games' program loops just run off the CPU clock instead of a time independent game loop. We had no idea that CPUs would get that fast that it would be a problem. I started programing in 1990. Most of the programs I wrote were in Dos in Turbo C, on a 386 when I started.
Hello, I'm wondering that now since the Steam version is also packaged with ArenaSetup, can these DosBox configurations work for the Steam version? I'm asking because since Steam would ask if I want to play either Full Screen or Windowed, then I probably don't have to fiddle that particular setting in the config file, but what about everything else?
You can try right-clicking and selecting "Open Link in New Tab" or "Save Link As...". If the problem persists you may need to adjust your browser settings to allow downloads or pop-ups from that site. You can download the game directly from Bethesda at elderscrolls.bethesda.net/en/arena but it may not be as smooth and I can't guarantee everything in this video will work as described.
You should be able to google it and download this game. Otherwise, if you go to GOG (Good Old Games), you can purchase something like Redguard or Morrowind. You will then be given TES: Arena and TES: Daggerfall for free. From GOG, a lot of games (in particular, the older ones) will come DRM-free. This means that you can give them out to friends to have, with no issues. GOG versions also come themselves with DOSBox applications built in, so you can just run them.
In what way? Like it's old and hard to play mechanically, or it's crashing on you? I feel you on the first one haha... but you get used to it after a few hours of gameplay. Save often! As for the second it's tough to troubleshoot but emulated games in general struggle with a lot of newer systems :( good luck!
@@mr_talisman7761 At first I was having trouble figuring out how to loot enemies, but I figured that out. It also took me about an hour to get through the intro dungeon lmao. Actually enjoying it now but it's nearly impossible to navigate the map when an npc give you an assignment.
@@sweetwater2128 bruh the intro dungeon is so hard lol... especially on first playthroigh because the confusion is added to the unfamilar controls. Glad thinks are lookin up for you :)

This is the best guide to all this, by a long shot. Nicely done!
Thanks for the kind words :)
@@mr_talisman7761 You are most welcome :)
This is perfect. Been looking for something like this for a year. Thank you.
Happy you found it!
You made this so easy. I thought I had tried everything, but doing it your way worked perfectly!
Thanks! Glad to help :)
This was very helpful thank you, I could not figure out how to emulate it otherwise

Very interesting! I wasn't born yet in 1990 XD
Thank you very much! Just in case.... If you have GOG version, you need to find dosbox_arena.conf file in Arena folder.
this helped, you earned a sub bro
Thank you. Means a lot!
Thank you very much, you helped me a lot !

Ctrl+F1 works for me on steam to change the keybinds. But I've just got random memory error so will probably not be trying again any time soon.
When I click on arena setup link in the website, it doesn't automatically start downloading. Can somebody help me

@@mr_talisman7761 thanks bro, i solved this problem by just downloading it from another browser
Hold on, is this game free? Or do you have to pay full price for it?

@@shimayamagoto8959 So, I'd be able to run not just Arena, but also Daggerfall on my Chromebook? Without issues? That's awesome to hear, thanks dude!

Do yourself a favor and install the better font from Nexus mods
Does this crash a lot for anyone else or is it just me?
I have only had a few, but not a lot. Unfortunately I probably don't know enough about it to help troubleshoot your issues. Hope it gets better!
