the fact that none of 8bitdo's controllers made it on this list is really weird i own an 8bitdo pro 2 controller and it is such a delight to use, such a versatile controller, great battery, great button feel, symmetric sticks (this is an opinion but whatever), and the great D-pad, the amount of customization you can get is really amazing also worth mentioning, the removable but also rechargeable battery makes it a great controller
Pro controllers are 100% necessary. If you’re playing any kind of game where you have to actively use the right stick, and the face buttons, pro controllers make it 10x easier. I’ve had one since 2018ish and it’s been borderline impossible to revert back to a normal controller. Btw the razer wolverine tournament edition controller is the best controller I’ve ever used.
If the Dual Sence Edge ever is on sale for $150, I'll get one. $200 is just crazy, and $185 is just Sony, messing with us. $150 is totally acceptable, for a controller like this.
I have the PowerA Fusion controller mentioned here. The "RGB" isn't great, but the programmable rear buttons and trigger sensitivity switches are very nice.
I think this is pretty spot on. I have both the Elite Series 2 and the DualSense Edge, and I think they both have their ups and downs. I think the triggers feel better on the Elite when they're in "click mode" and better on the Edge when used like a regular controller. The Elite also has 4 paddles instead of 2 and massively longer battery life. They both feel great in the hand. I do wish the Edge came in a color other than white. The rubber grips on the inside of the handles are already stained from me palm gravying all over the thing the last month or so.
While I've never tried the Pro version I have had several PowerA controllers and one thing I know for certain is that they do not last. The longest run I've ever had with one is about five months before either an analog stick or a trigger went funky.
I was gonna say this as well. PowerA is great on a budget, but you'd better get used to paying out for replacements or popping the back cover for maintenance. I can't imagine their pro offering is much better than their base models.
14:59 “I think the edge feels better” in what way? If it’s exactly like a regular dual sense how would it feel better? Anyone who’s held an Elite Series 2 (forget the QC issues) would say it’s the most premium feeling controller, it’s heavy, smooth rubbery, metal, magnets everything the dual sense edge doesn’t have. Even snapping the sticks in place it’s just you pushing plastic and snapping It into more plastic. Unlike the elite that uses metal sticks at the base and magnets. I had the Edge for 6 days, and I couldn’t justify $200 on it. It just felt like a more expensive controller that comes with your PS5, lacked so many features and horrendous battery life. The one thing I admittedly still love is the haptics. Yes Elite Series 2 rumble sucks and it’s also poorly used in games.
so the rechargeable batteries in the Xbox pro controller are great, it feels much more sturdy, it has joystick tightening which is useful for when you swap games. And the ability to change the distance on the triggers is really useful for shooters. And the back paddles are a total game Changer. But this only really Applies if you play competitive shooters. But I understand that Austin isn’t really in that demographic….. and yes they are wayyy to expensive. also i wrote this before i finished the video.
I'm genuinely confused -- have neither you or the guys on here heard of rechargeable AA batteries? They're way easier: if your controller's flat, you just change the batteries.
The swappable stick modules of the DualSense Edge seem very cool but for that price I rather buy lunch and 2 spare normal controllers for when the sticks or some other button starts to fail on the one that came with the ps5.
As much as a love my Xbox Elite series 2, I am on my 5th one. 3 times I got stick drift, and the last time was my left bumper just stopped working. I miss the series 1. I had the same one for years and years!

I had a Razer Raiju Tournament Edition (PS version of the Wolverine V1) and god it was so awful. Firstly, because it was felt like a big chunk of a brick. It was so heavy, that after 2 rounds of Apex Legends, i had to take a break, because my hand get tired, to holding it. Also, it was useless in wireless mode. I was kinda happy, that after like 8 months, the left joystick started to drifting, so i was able to return it, and got my money back. Returning to the Dualshock 4, was a real relief.
8:55 l have this controller, it’s really good and last time I checked, it was on sale for 50 dollars on Amazon. And the faceplate is swapable, it comes with 2 joysticks, one with a smooth top and both are taller than the ones on the controller, the paddles are programmable to any button on the controller, there’s adjustable hair triggers, and the paddles are removable. The “pro” version of it, the version I have, has a button on the bottom of the controller that mutes the headset when it’s plugged in, and the button can be pushed left or right to increase or decrease the headset volume.
The Elite Series 2 controller made gaming more accessible for me as I can program face buttons to the back and I can put less strain on my thumb joint. It’s certainly not for everyone.
I currently use series 2 myself. I have mapped the right trigger to one of the left paddles as i lack the necessary dexterity in my right hand due to an accident some years ago

I don't play FPS much, mainly third person and racing games. When I started gaming I mainly used the DualShock 4 with software, or a Logitech Game Pad because they could be either X input or direct input. When I first used an Xbox controller with my PC games, I never went back to those. I have had Xbox controllers for a while now and I recently had the Elite 2 customized through Design Labs. Then bought the new white Elite 2 (without addons) on Amazon because they had a sale for $115. I carry the custom one with me and leave the white one at home. After I got used to the paddles on the back, using the normal Xbox controllers was a problem because my fingers were naturally always looking for the rear paddles. Mapping buttons to the paddles so I can use the right thumb just for aiming and looking around helped a lot in third person games. At first I thought I was going to have issues coordinating 4 additional fingers to press buttons, but it took less than an hour to get used to it. Yes, it's a lot of money. I was looking at the Scuf ones for a while, but the fact that they're normal Xbox controllers with extra buttons and a paint job doesn't justify their price over the Elite Core (in my opinion). I have a PS4 that I barely use, so if the Dual Sense Edge was backwards compatible, I would definitely give it a try.

I bought a series 1 elite and a series 2 elite. Had the stick drift on 1, failing bumpers on 2, was thrilled to find out about the core version cause I kept all the parts.
I was going to mention the Astro C40 controller but I forgot I originally got it when I had a PS4 and I have since switched to solely PC gaming and sold my PS5. The Astro C40 is a decent controller if you have big hands. I’ve had it for over 3 years and only had to replace one of the joysticks which I would call a win. It still works perfectly fine with PC games and PS4 games but ASTRO has come out and said that PlayStation is the one blocking any updates from coming out to support it on the PS5 so I assume the rest of these pro controllers included in this list were chosen based on being compatible with current gen consoles. While you can still use the Astro C40 controller with a PS5, you are limited to PS4 ported games only. PS5 games will not work with the controller. That being said, if you like a larger controller and having the access to swap the D-Pad and Joystick, or just the piece of mind that the modules can be replaced, the Astro C40 has been great for me. The replacement joysticks are only $20 and the app is easy to navigate. The texture and feel of the controller is slightly rubberized which has helped me with sweaty hands. The only issue I ever ran into was having to manually switch which driver my PC was using to recognize the controller a couple times. It looks like Astro has pulled the production of the controller from their site but you can pick a refurbished one up from them for $170 or you can pick one up for around $60-$120 on EBay based on recently sold ones. Astro was one of the first to introduce the swappable D-Pad and Joystick modules and it’s cool to see these other controllers coming out sporting the same concepts. It’s cool to think that even over the 4 years it’s been since the release, it seems like Astro had the hardware down pretty well considering controllers with similar functions are still comparable in size. That was the main thing that steered my friends away from the C40 but I have no issue with it since I usually either have my hands resting on my desk or in my lap when I’m playing and it’s still comfortable to hold. Anyway, thanks for the entertainment. I’ll continue holding onto my C40 and using it as my primary controller for the time being. Xbox Elite Series 2 is compelling but not at it’s current price.
After using an elite series 2 controller for FPS games I could never go back. Having the paddles and being able to tighten the stick tension and everything is just top tier
This is a great video that deff brings up how ridiculous the pricing is for a "pro" controller, but I disagree with the rumble feature. Many gamers, including myself, turn off rumble to prevent it from affecting my gameplay. That's why I would be okay with a lousy rumble if everything else is excellent. I'm surprised you guys never mentioned those back buttons clip-on adapters, IMHO, those things are perfect because you get the back buttons with any 1st party controller.
Don't forget about stench gaming they do custom PS5 and Xbox Pro controllers. But it's crazy if you want all the bells and whistles with a cinch controller it's like just over $333. But the offer is you can customize all the colors of the controller in the buttons which I prefer the PS5 onen assets more customizable. I'm not sure if they're using the dual sense. But you can basically have it so that the d-pad are clickable buttons for instant response and same for the the Eldar buttons you can have clickable which especially if you're in like in a first-person shooter game the others had that little bit more of an edge cuz you're going to get the instant shot versus having to pull the triggers all the way in. Also to they make for the Xbox and for the PlayStation 5 controller they have four extra buttons you can get underneath which adds an upcharge the most to your order. It's like over 80 bucks. You can get it with 2 buttons if you want half the price. But the difference between the Xbox One vs the PS51 one is you can pay an extra $30 and be able to have the ones on the PS5 remappable to whatever buttons you want. But it's cool you can choose whatever color you want for the front, for the back, for the middle, for the touchpad, for the X, triangle, square, and circle they all have to be the same color where is the Xbox one you can choose individual colors. The analog sticks you can choose which color you want and which ring you want on the inside. You can choose the color of the d-pad. If you want to choose the colors for the analog sticks but you want them to be able to be adjusted for the height you can only get black ones which is an additional $20. Pretty much every add-on you do and adds on another few dollars another few dollars and if you basically add everything which you can also do laser engraving. Getting minus the laser engraving come out to just over $333 but they do have a 20% off code save you around $66.60. Some of those two for the backs of the Playstation or Xbox controllers you can look like it has splattered paint. I do know that some companies make modded controllers where you can like havit rapid-fire and different things like that but I think from quench Game of Thrones are probably the most expensive one I have seen.
None of these should exist. I feel sorry for everyone who overspent on them. Games are developed for their hardware. I dont care if you're a twitch streamer with 1 billion subscribers, having to need all this specialized equipment and absurd amount of money in order to be good makes you bad. It's like bragging about an nes game when you used the game genie to do it. First game I played was venture on colecovision.
You should also review the custom line such as aim controller, battle beaver, cinch, mega modz and moddedzone im sure i missed a few but they can be cheaper with more options such as mouse click buttons
I own a scuf and absolutely love it it is a bit pricey but coming from someone that actually uses it I think it’s totally worth it it’s sooooo we’ll made and it’s definitely not a “modded”controller it’s its own thing
So Scuf controllers are actually probably my favorite controllers of all time. Ive had a 360 scuf and a Xbox one scuf and both are amazing. Ive been using my xbox one scuf for a few years now and its still going strong.
I’ve owned 2 scufs, an elite series 2, and now the dual sense edge and I’ll never go back. The dual sense is a good size, comes with the awesome case and accessories, and has so much customization. Having the FN buttons to switch my chat volume or my button layouts is awesome. And the dual sense works just as good.
Any Power A controller I have used has lasted less than half a year before death, usually the usual drift - The bonus of first party xbox is they have a year warrantee as base for free repairs
I swear I had a module swappable controller back during PS2/360 (i bought it for my modded ps2 but i remember mostly playing my 360 around this time.) I remember getting two of them brand new at a goodwill. They were see through red plastic with black bits but I can't for the life of me find any info about them online.
I have the elite V1 & V2, and no stick drift on either with over a year of intense use. However, the shoulder bumpers are garbage just like the Mushy face buttons
ok you did the fusion but PowerA did a Fusion Pro for the switch. it has wired or wireless capability only issue is the friction rings throw the thumbsticks off on the white faceplate.
The biggest problem with the power a controllers if you are thinking of getting one is that once your cable breaks even though it’s a micro usb cable you can’t just connect another micro usb cable in once it breaks for some reason it dosent fit so you basically have to buy another controller all over again Edit: They fixed this issue by replacing it to a type c connector
The funny part is the new one is type c but it still has that weird locking tab thing and some cords don't fit like my type c for my scuff instinct pro doesn't fit 🤣
The power A is really good for the price however it sometimes has stick drift & sometimes the paddles lose their custom mapping also the headphone Jack can buzz with static
So I was using a Power A Fusion for about a year finally died out. I picked up the Gulikit Zen Pro at target. For a wireless controller that states if made for the switch but pairs with no issues for PC. Also hall efect sticks and analog triggers for 60 bucks is an amazing deal.
I cam here to say this, the fact that this controller isn't on this list and isn't well known is a shame! I've been following it since Linus did a video with one and I finally bought one on the birthday and it is the best controller I've ever used hands down.
I replaced my worn series x controller with a series 2 core pro controller and returned it after 1 day. I experienced stick drift within an hour of play and absolutely hated the sharp, cheap feel of the controller.
I have 2 elite 2 controllers, one was a gift and one was bought on my own, and one has a sticky b button and an A button that barely works and the other has a malfunctioning rumble motor. D tier for literally having a 100% rate of error for me.
Pretty much all of these controllers cost over $100. $52,000 a year is a fair salary for a lot of people which breaks down to roughly $200/workday. Assuming an 8 hour workday, one of these controllers costs you half a day or more of work. It kinda seems crazy
The fact you missed the guikit zen pro that they now sell at target(it used to be online only.) is a shame. For 60 bucks you get a controller with hall effects sticks(no more stick drift) works wired and wireless, has a button to switch modes from switch,PC,android, and direct input, has amazing accuracy at full range of motion meaning no longer having to set your deadzone to 5 to 10 you can literally use 0 deadzone, has programmable buttons, and it probably has a few other features I'm forgetting. It's extremely comfortable and has a good weight and battery life and comes from a company that's been making replacement modules for other controllers to swap out to hall effect sticks for quite a while. Hopefully they get a chance to try them out and review them if they haven't because it's seriously the best controller I've used up till now, though I do admit I haven't used a dual sense.
I had a power a fusion for a few days because it was so cheap. The sticks started acting up and I returned it yes after a few days. I got an elite series 1 for $140 and it’s been over a year with no issues. I actually don’t like the magnet sticks since they always fall out and the rubber feels awkward after a while. But the stick accuracy for FPS is not marginally better it’s way better.
I check everyday for release date on the raikiri pro! I can’t for this controller, it looks amazing. The back buttons is placed exactly like I want them to. I’ve had 4 elite 2’s. All failed face buttons. Done with that! I need a good “pro” controller and can’t seem to find one.
I had multiple Elite Series 1. Both of them had to be sent back to Microsoft for repair due to drift issues. Personal experience will never let me buy another one.
Matt almost hammered home the reason why the Elite series of controllers should be S-Tier. The size and weight is a plus but the reason for that size and weight is because of the build quality. I have both Elite controllers and I've admittedly dropped them, thrown them, spilled things on them, and opened them and they still work fine. Not just that but they still look new! The shell is crazy durable and the metal sticks make them feel smooth still to this day. Another thing I love about the series 2 core.... When my series 1 eventually does die, all the parts will be compatible with the series 2 core so I'll basically have the full pkg for the reduced cost, rather than having to buy the whole thing again They also added Elite controllers to the design lab recently so Scuf has some competition in that dept.

6:30 Yay! You got the Raikiri Pro! :3
After using an elite series 2 controller for FPS games I could never go back. Having the paddles and being able to tighten the stick tension and everything is just top tier
My left hand ALWAYS cramps up after 30mins of using a playstation controller so they're all F's for me lol.
Damn it Austin. Did you buy your jacket at Forever 21 as well cause we have the same exact jacket 😂😂
14:08 me when I'm getting the lotion knowing no one is going to be home all day.
I had a power fusion a for a few years and I highly recommend it! it also comes in a nice hard case.
As a Titanfall player, stick drift happens every 3 months. Controllers without replaceable sticks or hall effect are immediately useless for me.
Best pro controller has to be the Scuf Instinct Pro just for the triggers alone. Nothing else comes close.
Compared to these things the Lego Optimus Prime doesn't feel so expensive anymore.
These pro controllers are a complete ripoff!
You should have had the Gulikit KingKong 2 Pro on this List with its Electromagnetic Sticks
They all have issues but Scuf is the winner on the most issues out of a controller.
I use a control on all my pc games, even fps, I grew up using them and stuck in my ways lol
Got my power A controller for 40$ at walmart, I like it but analogs wear easy and the switches to shorten the pull on triggers dont really work.
skinhead matt was a different breed 😂
The biggest problem with the power a controllers if you are thinking of getting one is that once your cable breaks even though it’s a micro usb cable you can’t just connect another micro usb cable in once it breaks for some reason it dosent fit so you basically have to buy another controller all over again
Edit:
They fixed this issue by replacing it to a type c connector
The funny part is the new one is type c but it still has that weird locking tab thing and some cords don't fit like my type c for my scuff instinct pro doesn't fit 🤣
@@StillShatter time to do some cutting 😂
the sudden ui theme had me rolling
Did anybody else think they had a buncha maxipads opened on the table when the episode started? 😂
The power A is really good for the price however it sometimes has stick drift & sometimes the paddles lose their custom mapping also the headphone Jack can buzz with static
I have been clickbaited😢 There were no fuzzy controllers in this video
So I was using a Power A Fusion for about a year finally died out. I picked up the Gulikit Zen Pro at target. For a wireless controller that states if made for the switch but pairs with no issues for PC. Also hall efect sticks and analog triggers for 60 bucks is an amazing deal.
I cam here to say this, the fact that this controller isn't on this list and isn't well known is a shame! I've been following it since Linus did a video with one and I finally bought one on the birthday and it is the best controller I've ever used hands down.
The only problem I have with duelsense are the triggers and the weight
Nah bro elite 2 is S tier it’s better materials and better battery life than the edge and it’s less expensive than the edge
Think you could build an All in one PC case, like with a monitor as a side panel and everything.
The back button attachment did wonders for the Ps4 controller, but I dunno about expending $200 bucks to get go those on the ps5 duel sense.
I’ve been using the gulikit kingkong pro 2 controller on my PC for a few months. I’ll be honest, I’ve never used any of the ‘Pro’ features though haha
Do you forget that the switch pro controller has a message to gamers under the right joystick?
It makes me question things when someone wants to spend more on a controller then a WHOLE console like the switch lite
If you want to swap buttons they should consider playstation layout, xbox layout, nes and sega layout button swaps
I check everyday for release date on the raikiri pro! I can’t for this controller, it looks amazing. The back buttons is placed exactly like I want them to. I’ve had 4 elite 2’s. All failed face buttons. Done with that! I need a good “pro” controller and can’t seem to find one.
Just 2 dudes sitting around some Maxi pads
The v1 is my favorite it's so comfortable but now the right bumper auto presses so now I use an elite 2
I had multiple Elite Series 1. Both of them had to be sent back to Microsoft for repair due to drift issues. Personal experience will never let me buy another one.
Don’t pull out the Scottville groom sensor bar
The power a wireless pro controller is on sale for 70 rn. I just ordered mine, will update when it gets here
what about.Nacon?
Next time you guys do another controller ranking video could you add the ps3 and Xbox 360 controllers?
Matt almost hammered home the reason why the Elite series of controllers should be S-Tier. The size and weight is a plus but the reason for that size and weight is because of the build quality.
I have both Elite controllers and I've admittedly dropped them, thrown them, spilled things on them, and opened them and they still work fine. Not just that but they still look new! The shell is crazy durable and the metal sticks make them feel smooth still to this day.
Another thing I love about the series 2 core.... When my series 1 eventually does die, all the parts will be compatible with the series 2 core so I'll basically have the full pkg for the reduced cost, rather than having to buy the whole thing again
They also added Elite controllers to the design lab recently so Scuf has some competition in that dept.
Those controllers look like kirks nightmare…a tribble
I wonder where you guys would put these Super NESs Advantage on that list?
Any gamepad without hall effect thumbsticks can't get out of D tier at these prices
The Gulikit King Kong 2 Pro deserved to be on here
He gave the scuff a D because of price when the features of it blow the rest of the controllers out of the water, real nice.
