In the first 2024 episode of Deep Dive we are going to explore the dark side of Hollywood parents by taking a dive into the tragic childhood of Macaulay Culkin. In the 90's Macaulay reached unprecedented amounts of stardom with the release of the iconic film Home Alone. But as Macaulay's star grew so did his "Dadager's" greed causing a young Mack to be overworked to the point that he would completely disappear from the limelight.

I was nearly cast in the co-starring role for Josh & Sam, by the same woman that discovered Maculkin. I didn't have a portfolio or experience and was not chosen, but she was very impressed. She gave my mom numbers to get the ball rolling on a career and I'm grateful my lazy mom never followed through. It would have been a short career just for one. Hollyweird is officially over.

Macaulay and Michael Jackson are similar in many ways like having abusive fathers who physically, mentally and emotionally abused them, same kind of mothers, large family, grow up poor, get famous young, overworked at young age, the star of the family, breadwinners for their families, etc. There's just too many similarities I think Michael Jackson see himself in him. Everyone in our store adored him. He had no qualms about talking and interacting with us minimum wage making, often exploited retail workers. I remember he was asking about art supplies to one of my coworkers, heard she wanted to be an actress herself and actually spent time asking her questions about it and giving her genuine career advice. My coworker was so grateful. He is really a rare gem 💎

WHY DO PEOPLE CONTINUE TO HAVE CHILDREN THEY CANT AFFORD?!?!?! They’re lucky it worked out for them BUT it’s pretty selfish to keep having kids you can’t afford and you’re keeping them from succeeding in life and keeping them from doing activities they could be interested in. And if you can’t afford to feed them??? Ridiculous.

It was so brave of him to put his foot down and stop acting. The whole world would've said why are you throwing away your career?? But he knew what he truly wanted and it wasn't that. To make that decision and follow through at 14 is so courageous

I would love to see one of those deep dives about Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy. He really went off the rails during the last Harry Potter movies as well as after HP and he's now known for being almost obsessed with the HP franchise. As far as I know, he's now doing well but I was shocked to find out about his past

It’s weird how I always check on him periodically because I grew up in the 90s so all his movies were constantly playing in our house. It’s like a childhood friend who never saw in person again but wanna know how they are doing.

*This video was GREAT. I only wish you would have talked some of the various moments in his life a bit more! For instance, it seemed this video harped on a lot of his negative issues, but then flew by speaking about him meeting Brenda! It also would have been cool if you had mentioned that they have 2 boys & one of their sons is named, "Dakota" after his late sister, who was unfortunately killed by a car hitting her. 💔 However they kept her spirit alive with their son, Dakota, who by the way looks just like Mack* 😭😭
*It also would have been cool if you had mentioned his podcast & website, "Bunny Ears," which was a really hilarious parody podcast he had and brought guests on or talked about the band he was in, "The Pizza Underground." You could have also discussed that short video series Mack & his friends made, (the videos are easily accessible here on RUclips) which was supposed to show "Kevin" all grown up with mental health issues bc he kept getting forgotten on vacation as a child* 😂
*Anyway, if you ever make a part 2 for this video, now you have a better idea about where to start!!* 😅❤

I feel for him.. he seems like such a good person from such a young age and still is. he had so much fame, but he didn’t create any unnecessary drama and he wasn’t obnoxious, was always polite in interviews & on the streets. It’s sad that the only normalcy he had was short lived and he couldn’t even experience real childhood. I hope his gets through all that childhood traumas & finds true happiness in his life.
