    WOW!! Great set-up tutorial. I took one look at the user manual and immediately went to find a video online instead. You were very thorough and clear. I'm a VERY novice 3D printing enthusiast and you made me feel comfortable and capable to assemble this. I'm printing my test model now as I type. I also used your friend's Ender 3 leveling file to help and it worked great. After watching a few unboxing/assembly videos for the Voxelab Aquila I found this one to be the best. Great job!

    My favorite part about this printer is that every review video I’ve watched, the host has pronounced the name differently. Haha

    • @BV3D
      @BV3D  3 года назад +4

      😂 I really wish printer manufacturers would provide a pronunciation guide so we don't sound like idiots. 😉
      I mean, Voxelab is pretty easy. VOCKS-uhl Lab. A voxel is the volumetric equivalent of a pixel, and the pronunciation there is a known thing. Aquila is a little more open to interpretation. I went with "uh-KEE-luh," but I've heard "uh-KWILL-uh" and "uh-KWHY-luh" pronunciations as well.
      When I did the Qiditech i-mate S video, I was fortunate that a couple of others had been raked over the coals for saying "kwid-ee-tek" or similar, and apparently the correct pronunciation is "chee-dee-tek." So that's how I said it on that video.

    Nice review Bryan... After having my Aquila for 2 months and also owning a few E3v2's there are some good and bad points to the Aquila. Overall build quality is better than a Ender 3v2 with the exception of couplers and display. Neither brands provided couplers are good but the Enders are noticeably better same goes for the display. The overall feel of the E3v2 display is better and the action on the encoder wheel is also. Assembly hardware is of higher quality on the E3v2. Both print well but the Aquila was an easier build as the assembly squared up better than the E3v2. The extrusions just seemed formed and cut/machined better with more precision. I've had to use customer service 3 times for warranty issues and have to say that their customer service is leaps and bounds ahead of Creality! Very quick to respond within a few hours and less than 24 on a weekend. A few back and fourths and new parts were on the way via DHL air freight. In all cases I had parts on my door step in 7 to 10 days for my first email! I got my Aquila on sale for $145.00 so an even better value. For the price difference you can upgrade your Aquila and have a far superior printer for the same money or less with better warranty support. Competition is good for us the consumer. I predict continued price drops of e3v2's as Creality and Voxelabs fire shots at each other! When they come out with their new model next month I'll be a buyer for sure once again overall impressed with Voxelab. Now lets just hope they don't screw things up and start doing Kickstarter campaigns!

      For the record, I want to follow-up that the included clamps that hold the build plate are prone to coming off from time to time. This will ruin your print-in-progress when the build plate slides off the bed. I immediately replaced them with better clamps.

    Probably one of the best of these unbox/review videos i have ever seen. Very concise & purposeful, (no gimmicks or comedy auditions). Thank you for the effort, it certainly wasnt a waste of time. I was watching as i have a onefinity CNC machine coming & have been looking at cable & dust control management & there are numerous parts/components that are 3d printed. The cost for me here in Australia is somewhat prohibitive, with the transport, however most offer the stl files at a reasonable cost, so investigating whether to outlay for a 3d printer to enable me to print my own parts as needed. Just have to explore whether there are any other benefits i can derive from having a 3d printer. Machine is quite expensive here in OZ ($460), but still cheaper than getting a local to print the parts i need.
    Thanks again & have subscribed to see what other printer content you have avilable

    FYI, for those who may be experiencing print failures on complex parts with lots of retractions using PLA. The extruder stepper motor gets hot enough to soften the PLA and causes jams at the extruder feed point. You can put a fan on the motor as a quick fix and perhaps investigate the driver voltage to lower the heat.

    Mr. Brian thanks so much for the review here. I am sitting here waiting for an Amazon return to post (don't buy Anycubic) and was undecided as to another 3 v2 or the Voxelab. This video was the X factor in that decision. I have heard about the Aqilla's several times but never really had reason to look them up. My refund tonight will be about about $20 shy of the 3v2 but with the voelab I'd have money left over for some filament too! Love the BV3D content which also makes it so that I can easily trust your judgement on things.

    Great video and bonus points for the Chuy's T-shirt. You might want to point out that the Bowden coupler that Flashforge/Voxelab uses can be a little failure-prone so if you have spares you might want to replace that during assembly (or that it's a standard part that's easy enough to replace later.)

    • @BV3D
      @BV3D  3 года назад

      Hi Ron! Thanks! I'm still waiting for Chuy's to bring back their full menu. 😋 Is the coupler on the extruder side the problematic one, or on the hot end side? Or is it both? The one on the extruder seemed to hold pretty well, at least so far. I don't have very many miles on the printer yet.

    • @rononeill1749
      @rononeill1749 3 года назад

      @@BV3D One day we'll get Elvis Green Chile Fried Chicken again... one day. The one I'm talking about is the stainless PC4-M6 on the extruder side. For whatever reason, the black plastic piece that is supposed to hold the PTFE tube loses its springiness and grip causing the PTFE tube to pop out. I have an Adventurer 3, and that's known to be probably the most problematic part of that entire printer and the first part that failed on mine. Of course, on the Adv3, that's on the hot-end side where it's likely to have more stress on the tube. I just know that's something that can fail and that a lot of people keep spares and it's possible that the Aquila won't be under as much stress and their coupler may last longer in that scenario.
      Keep up the good work-- this is a very clear and understandable video review and guide.

    • @richm658
      @richm658 3 года назад

      @@rononeill1749 That's funny I had issues with both my Aquila's with the extruder end coupler. I replaced them both before the first print. The tube moved way to much for my liking even when new. I've got over 10 full spools through the first one and about 6 on the other one and the hot end coupler still looks like it's holding up nicely on both. I am sure it's just a matter of time as i always end up replacing both on all my printers. Interested to see how long the hot end ones last.

After putting mine together, I went to click "go to center" and it moved the bed all the way back and the extruder all the way forward and froze, double checked the wiring, I think something's labeled wrong, can't get it to work, so I'm just going to bring it in and get the wiring done for me. My only complaints so far are the instructions as they suck and the mislabeling of wires.

    THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT ISSUE WITH THE ACQUILA and it has to do with the cost cutting mystery! Watch TH3D Studio's Live Stream from June 2 , 2021 around the 46:25 mark for his explanation on the controller boards and fire hazard. Apparently, the demo models, like BV3D's, were shipped with 512K chips, and the retail units are shipping with 256K. While doing this, their firmware is still 512K. According to TH3D, this results in overheating and a fire hazard, and these printers should be avoided until this question/risk is addressed.

      Hi,
      Thanks for watching and commenting! The main board in my Aquila uses the same GigaDevice GD32F103 ARM processor that Tim's had. A comment by *Rich M* elsewhere on this video suggests that Voxelab wasn't able to source the STM32 processors, and so had to substitute the GD32 processors. Rich also says he's gotten STM32-equipped main boards on several Aquila units.
      Not sure if this link will work, but it *should* point to the response I'm referencing. ruclips.net/video/nGWpDWlgkzw/видео.html&lc=Ugxuu1W-_89me6_-YkV4AaABAg.9OIYBr4R8dk9OIvYRs9obo

    When the time had come to move the head to the right side. When I moved the head to the right manually it would stop, it felt as if something was in the way stopping it. It would not go any further. It did not even make it to the middle. I don't know where I messed up.

    Personally I think they're selling this at sort of a loss for publicity but who knows

    Hey B. If the voxelab is so similar to the e3 could you run the marlin firmware on this printer? That would solve the not being able to level the bed . Love the channel , keep up the good work.

    I know that one of the first things it seems that most people print is a knob for the extruder.

    mine has the power supply RIGHT out in the open looking tacking standing straight up, the damn bolts are not marked clearly on the bags which should be done to make it easier.

    What about the fact that you have to immediately change the firmware or it could catch fire?
    I would say that's a pretty big difference between the E3 V2.
