    As a harpist who (without any woodworking experience) built a small kit harp some years ago, this is absolutely stunning and impressive!👏 So much thought and skill put into the building, and you're playing it too!

      I'm much better at the woodwork than the playing! LOL! But I wanted to learn so I could understand and appreciate why the harp is built the way it is. Thanks for visiting! 😜

    Exceptional! Nice work. I particularly like the carvings, and how dimensional the knots are! Those three-dee animations helping to explain how the harp is put together are very nice too. Multi-talented, for sure! 🙂

      Hi Angie B. Thanks for that feed back. I have wondered if my animations are worthwhile or not. Or if they just get in the way. I think they're one of the things that sets me apart. I haven't seen other woodworkers etc. doing that kind of explaining. 😊 The knot work was fun to do, and I'm glad I designed my own. I love Celtic knotwork, but haven't done a lot of it myself. Thank you for visiting! 💪

    GOOD LORD! This is mind-blowing! I'm serious, this is just boggling and absolutely beautiful! I swear to you, you'd better sign and label this because it's going to show up in a museum 1000 years from now and people will be blown away by it.

    As a guitar builder, we never put any finish inside the box. As the bare wood ages, it develops very complicated overtones, that improve the sound quality 10 fold. As a wood worker, I can guarantee the epoxy used to glue the staves together, would never have failed, especially since you have those bulkheads.

      Interesting. I'm working on a Lyre harp now, and am debating whether to seal the inside or not. Good to know. Thanks for the feedback.

      Took about two years. That's the one thing RUclips doesn't really convey - just how long a project like this really takes. I know my woodworking RUclips friends all understand that. :) Anyway, I'm excited to finish the table I'm working on so I can build another harp. Smaller this time.

    You did such an amazing job! I’m looking into building my own lever harp and I’m wondering how much it would cost for all the materials? And how long it took you to create this? Thank you so much! I’m so inspired.

    • @rosascreativeworks5403
      @rosascreativeworks5403  5 месяцев назад

      Well, it has been a few years now. I think I spent close to a $1000+ on the materials, and it took me about 2 years from start to finish. The harp is based on plans from Robinson Harp Shop. Of course I was only working on it in my spare time. :) Best of luck with your project.

    May I ask how did you overcome the issue when you had to attach the pillar joint to the soundboard? Is there's something I missed in the video? Love the harps design btw great job!

    • @rosascreativeworks5403
      @rosascreativeworks5403  Месяц назад +2

      For me, I wasn't certain what to do at that point you mention. So for my sound board, it does not touch the pillar and is only connected at the bottom, sides & top of the sound box. The spine the strings attach to, forks at the bottom and goes around the pillar. I do not know if that's a great idea or not, but it worked for me. I'll post a photo of this to my community tab so you can see.

    Is there a eay you can build a harp sample for 22 harp so i can build it?

    • @rosascreativeworks5403
      @rosascreativeworks5403  2 года назад

      At the moment I'm stuck living in an apartment and I do not have a wood shop. That makes it hard for me to build anything large. I did just start building a Lyre Harp and I'm borrowing some help from Dad to use his workshop. Realistically, I think it is going to be late next year before I get a new home purchased and can set up a new workshop. I DO HOWEVER, want to build a 22 string Lap harp for myself, so I know once I get settled again, I'm going to be working on such a project. Anyway, stay tuned, or check the community tab for updates. I'll get there one of these days. Thanks for commenting! I'm glad people are interested in a 22 string harp.

    why the soundbox so thick?

    • @rosascreativeworks5403
      @rosascreativeworks5403  2 года назад

      Ideally it shouldn't be. If I had it to do over again I would build it lighter with a frame and thinner skin. But as I had never built a harp before, I over designed it for strength. Thanks for watching!
