I'll never understand why people say others who don't wanna be married or have kids are selfish??
misery loves company... they also get jealous seeing childless adults living their best lvies..
If you ask me getting married is extremely selfish, you basically are claiming ownership over another human being. Same with having children oh, many people have children who are not financially or emotionally ready and their children will lead terrible lives.
"Sign this form that benefits ONLY ME at your expense or YOU are selfish." That's the logic being hurled at men. Children are even worse. If you want custody, you better have a vagina, because people with those win 85% of cases. I always suggest a man to adopt his own kid if he wants one so he has guaranteed custody no one can later take away from him. All the orphanages full of abandoned kids have ensured that a man doesn't even need a woman to have a kid. If he creates his own, he is taking a huge risk of the mother taking it away from him. And he'll have to PAY HER for 18 years as well. It's much safer for a man to just adopt. So bottom line for men today is, no reason to get married, no reason to reproduce.
only a mad man get married today
I think its odd I mean having a bunch of kids and not really wanting it is selfish because the kids suffer so if you know you don't want kids and don't have them isn't that the least selfish you can be? You're not ruining someone elses life you know who you are and live by it ! Lol :)
His life, his choice. His choices aren’t hurting anyone- you do you Josh!
@Precious Erving-Frimpong lol wtf? He's explaining why he won't get married again. And he literally said at the beginning if marriage is your thing than do to it. So how is he influencing people? Get your head out your ass.
Does he have to do you!?
@Precious Erving-Frimpong but you have your own brain and you are responsible for your own choices so , truth is, no he is not. If anything he is showing them a choice, God Forbid. I chose not to marry or have kids. I own my own house and car. I am not in debt . I have my profession . I’m independent.
A lot of people my age are now getting divorced since their kids are in college, etc. Many are financially ruined. It isn’t all sunshine and roses doing what ‘society expects of you’ which is to get married and have kids.

I know that a lot of people claim they don't want to hear about your personal anecdotes. "get back to the career advice blah blah blah" but the primary reason I am subscribed to the channel is for the tea, the drama, and the sage advice. I want a video on how to avoid being trapped in shitty friendships.
As long as the content is informative or entertaining in an engaging and relatable way, I'll watch.
Your career will be crap if you get married - so this is career advice. You'll be a blue pill slave to your wife - they value SECURITY over growth and moving UP.
People that come to Josh for "career advice" should just stick to some self improvement con artist/productivity hack/businessmen self-biography crap.
I come to Josh for real talk about the bitter truth that your company don't give a crap about you and your goal, and you hang around for mutual interest. It is a breath of fresh air in a industry where everyone expects you to have undying passion and expects you to grind your personal well-being away for extra productivity that disproportionately profits them over you.
Unsolicited stranger's experience: Bad friends are easier to cut off because you can do the slow fade or quick release. Either way a blocked number or change of address is the best way to go if they're too much. I usually wait years before even revealing my address nowadays.
Start with the obvious stuff like being put down and discouraged from following dreams. They can be pragmatic and ask questions about the reality of accomplishing things. If they tell you you just can't do things because you're too stupid or something subjective then it's time to cut the line.
Lots of self-reflection and strong boundaries are needed on your part. Sometimes you feel most comfortable being treated like shit because of your past so you have to know your triggers too.
As well as a watchful eye. Just like Josh's wife flipped friends can do that too and you need to see if it's a pattern or a bad day. Seeing how they act around other people and when others are not watching is important.

@@harley6867 Of course men do. The thing is that for generations all the blame for cheating was on men. We are finally seeing the nature of women, now that they have been "empowered" with the pill, women's liberation, the sexual revolution and now Tinder, that they are less faithful and more able to play the opposite sex. I'm in my late 40's. I was married for about a decade, with 2 children. I can't say I married too young. I had a rough childhood with an abusive parent. After years of therapy I THOUGHT I was OK and knowing what I really want and need. It turned out wrong. I married an extremely abusive and narcissistic woman, which only came clear a couple of years after we got married.
It's been several years since we separated and I have been alone since. Not even a single date. I can't say I am too happy. I'm still a man, I'm not made out of stone. I see beautiful women out there and couples and it does pinch my heart. but I am very weary of getting into a relationship again, for the following reasons:
I've been so hurt and abused, something in me just broke and I feel it can't be fixed. I cannot bring myself to trust women OR myself again.
I'm a very sensitive person, I can't just DATE. Even in my 20's I rarely dated just for sex/fun, things need to have a meaning. The family unit had a very big value for me, and now it is broken. Forever. I believe not by my fault, but it still makes me feel ashamed. I know many divorced people go out on the market, date, *uck like crazy and have fun. That's just not me. I really can't.
I am very weary of bringing a new woman into my life, out of genuine concern for my kids. She'll have to get along with my children, maybe she'll have children of her own. I DON'T want to be one of those mixed families, I can't be a father to a child that isn't mine, I cannot take the place of his father and any potential woman cannot be the real mother of MY children.
This world has become very cynical and cruel. We live in a post-feminist society. Women today assert their power over men - which is fine to an extent - but when just a word to the police is enough to get you arrested and removed from your home for weeks without repercussions on false claims, when everything is replaceable, tinder dates are like consumer products... I don't want to be a part of that world. Men especially today are being dealt a very raw deal and stand a lot of lose for bringing a woman into their life.
I agree love is a beautiful feeling, and I've been there for a while. It is the elixir of life and probably the best thing you will experience in this life. But sometimes, things just get so broken you can't turn back. Any woman that comes into my life in the future will have to be a proper angel. Very slim chances of that happening and I'm not sure I even want that.
Sorry for the TLDR (but if you got here, you DID read - so thank you).
I'm sure many men here (and women) can relate.
A woman does not exist to be a man's "perfect angel" - she exists for herself and her own ambitions and dreams just like a man. Why should only men get to have the career and the control - I watched my mother growing up, she was the old frumpy housewife who had to do all the drudge work while my father controlled the money and her. I swore I would never be the Slave to any man. Women don't need sex like men do - we can be single and be fine. We aren't ruled and destroyed by our genitals.
@@christineb.8475 Dear Christine, you are making a very jarring inclusion about all men which is just wrong. Nobody should be ruled by nobody, man or woman.
Also, as a man who has been through all this mess above and otherwise, I have been totally alone for the past 3 years (and not looking nor dating at all, I'm done) , I occasionally enjoy female company which is strictly friendly and I only got intimate with one single woman in all this time, Once. My ears didn't fall off, I didn't go crazy and I havn't started climbing the walls. I am very much ok alone, you'll be amazed to know I am not 'led by my crotch' and there are tons of men like me out there . You bought into the cheap feminist lie to brainwash you into being some career woman and have no husband or family to grow old with. I dont understand the whole "you're selfish" if you dont have kids. The people i know with kids for the most part have them for their own ego reasons.
The wise words of Daniel Tosh, "MMMMMMmmmm. I fucked up. You try!"
Bringing life here in this world just to experience suffering is more selfish
Facts
Ive noticed most people have kids for 2 reasons: either because thats what society forced them to do or because they think a child will fix their lives. A kid should be a compliment to your life.
Well, it's pretty obvious why choosing to not have kids is thought of as selfish. You want more time, sleep, space, things, opportunities, and most of all, money... for yourself. What's not to understand?
Great video. Hit all the points. I found this very honest and insightfull. Thank you.
It's the fact that you look way better now than you did back then. Funny how freedom can change a man's life.
Now the question is, if he looked like this back then, would he be divorced?
Why ppl let go of themselves when they are married is the question...
I will never get married, thank you for your thoughts.
“It’s better to be selfish and recognized it than to be selfish and have kids”
Soooo true! Then you bully your kids because they get in your wasy

I'm 29 and going through a divorce now. I'd like to be in a long-term relationship, but it doesn't have to involve marriage. I'm with you. A lot of women don't want to be married anymore so I don't think that legally binding relationships will be the norm in the near future.
You mean, no longer the norm?
It’s not worth it as a man to get married, only a fool would make such a risk.
You're not selfish at all Josh. You're an amazing person and your decisions should be respected
Divorce is so ugly and marriage is too easy to get into. I do remember sitting in my bedroom thinking......is this it....is this it? Truth is, spouses are hard to find and most people are not for you. Being human is strange.

I’m married with five kids. It’s expensive and stressful but I’d be an empty, depressed soul without them. You can have a good relationship without being married tho. I hope everyone finds happiness. Josh is an inspirational guy and I like him a lot.
You’d be depressed without them? How would you know? I’m sure if something bad happened to them of course you would. But you don’t know what life would have been like had you not had them. You don’t know what you don’t know.
@@alex124241 he knows that his love for his family keeps him going. And so he knows without that he would be empty.
I've been married for 27+ years...it's been challenging at times...but way worth it... and I'm a better person because Of my family.
Only because you have built your world around them. But if the world was yanked out from underneath your feet, you're a man, you would survive. You would survive for the sake of your children.
@@alejandropreciado1814 Good for him. We aren't all that way. I'm mid 40's and I never had kids and never ever had even a fleeting desire to have them. Do I feel empty for not having a kid? Nope, not at all. Do I fear growing old and being alone? Hell no. The saddest thing is watching people you've known your whole life dying off, or getting together with them and bringing shit back up that make you miss the past. I live for the here and now. The past is just the pain of knowing what's gone, and a reminder how much less you'll be able to do with each passing day. On a deathbed alone, the only person getting hurt then is just you.
Don't ever apologize for having sense. Less common than people like to think.
I didn’t bust my ass in engineering school, pay off my new truck within 2 years and save frugally over the years so that someone can have a retirement plan through me when they decide to leave when they wake up and say “I’m NoT hApPy”.

Just wanna say thanks for sharing your experience. I have learned alot from this, the truth about prenups for example. I'm a 22 year old and I'm glad to hear these different perspectives. I pretty much agree with these statements all the way through. You shouldn't have to have a relationship and be legally bound to love them.
Joshua. Fascinating! We are the same person. Every one of your videos is spot on.
Thank you.
Marriage has never been about love. In fact the word love is no where to be found in the marriage contract
💯
Statistically with anonymous surveys it was found 75% of women married for money and not love. That should be enough to hesitate. That means 75% percent of the time they wont care about your happiness but what they are getting from you one way or another. They've decided they want someone to carry them through the rest of their life and that's it. Odds are they will cheat as well because they don't actually desire you, but what you do for them.
That’s what happens when you’re giving your attention/ soul to a female. Relationships do that to you, better off single!
Deep yep
Bro, this is probably the realest advice Ive ever Came across. So much Points to not fall in to these traps..
Her hair is pre-Karen. Once she gets comfortable, it will be her life's mission to make everyone else uncomfortable.
very insightful video thank you for sharing.
Long term relationships are hard though. It’s not really a ‘marriage’ issue. People are complicated, have needs, change in so many ways, and go through huge life altering events. As time goes on, it is always going to be a grind. Also, if you are going into a long term relationship thinking that you are not close enough to share your money, there’s no hope. It’s good to realise that you’re selfish, but really, that’s the main reason your relationships are going to fail. You HAVE to put the other person ahead of you at least some of the time (and expect that in return).
Convenient that women don't pay alimony so they simply don't have that financial slavery expectation.
I've never wanted marriage nor children and people think something is wrong with me. I laugh because I'm happy and know what I want and don't want. Marriage and a family never appealed to me. I love women but I love my freedom more. Of course, people call me selfish or assume I'm gay. No, I'm straight, just don't want a relationship and enjoy freedom.
Can relate so much. My family pushes so hard and I'm like no way. Funniest thing is they are all divorced, almost the whole family, parents, grandparents etc and they all praise marriage and having kids... and being called gay by family just because of this shows their true colors really.
how dare you no boomer tsk tsk tsk
Duded Dude that makes absolutely no sense . So the people that have kids and have them taken away because there such bad parents aren’t failures ?
@Duded Dude Ok boomer
@Duded Dude Chance to be good? There'r zillions of galaxies in the universe and so is there the chance to be good on earth. U don't have to treat ur fuck results right to be the ultimate saint, rather quite the contrary. If u treat others good then u can be the one of the ultimate saints. Treating own descent good ain't generous enough, it's selfish.
You are completely right dude. Marriage is broken
Josh, thank you for sharing your story. It sounds like you have been through a lot, especially from this as well as your parents. Your content around the workplace has been very helpful for me. I will be sure to pray for you.
Seeing all sorts of family situations out there, I don't know why I have been blessed with 8 and a half years of happy marriage. I easily could have messed up it all up given how immature I was. I don't know how we made it through but every year has been better than the one before for our marriage.

I think he’s made excellent points. It is difficult to maintain your independence and maximize your potential when you feel obligated to compromise your aspirations. Marriage isn’t for everyone especially if you don’t care about having kids. Happiness and self-fulfillment is not achieved in the same way for everyone. You do you.
One thing about this guy, is that he's not "perfect," but compared to a lot of people who bash him, he's actually going through personal growth.

I think you’re the most logical person I’ve ever heard. It’s refreshingly real as a fellow ‘realist’ to hear you explain everything is nice. We share the same outlook on children and marriage!!
And another thing people don’t wanna talk about is that marriage ages men
I just wanted to say that if you cohabitate with a woman, even if you are not married, you can be seen as married under the common household law and still lose all of your assets.
No kidding that's what I was going to say lol...its literally still the same but without your commitment being said outloud to people and having an expensive party... either way.
Also I think the commitment idea is nice it can definitely backfire and I definitely dont think it's for like 20 year olds lol but I think the commitment of being together and working through shit can happen married or not. Still nice to have the party though!
Yup, common law marriage is 12 years in California.
Only in specific states. If my state is even rumored to adopt such policies, splitting up on the spot.
