- Jill Scott and Erykah Badu perform You Got Me alongside The Roots live at David Chappelle's block party in Brooklyn
"Dave Chappellle's Block Party" follows actor, writer and comic Dave Chappelle loads up a bus with residents of his Ohio hometown and takes them to Brooklyn, N.Y. Once there, the travelers enjoy a concert featuring Kanye West, the Fugees, Big Daddy Kane, The Roorts and others. Rehearsal footage and Chappelle's brand of comedy enliven the proceedings.

one of my favorite parts of the block party. I used to watch this back to back, I think this was one of their best performances.
these two ladies are awesome together. touched my soul. the way they connected with each other and made such beautiful music. goodness, could listen to this on repeat all day.
No clashing of egos, just making music together. Beauty.
Jill killed it!!!!!
Remember seeing this in theaters this song takes me back to being a kid always loved this song and this version and the live with Jill Scott always a good time
This is great to see you all jamming together!
Black is beautiful always have been and always will be..
ALWAYS ❤
Soul baby, soul.
Jill Scott was supposed to sing the parts that Badu did on record . Badu got the feature because she was hitting at the time and Scott hadn't blown up yet
You can see the tension here , Jill is screaming too loud and being passive aggressive....Erykah just even sounds better on the recorded version, I've heard both recorded versions
Jill scott was the one who wrote the song too.
@@tumimontsho No it wasn't they haven't rehearsed it is all
@@drphot6050 They are professionals. No rehearsal was needed for this. Jill wanted to show Erykah up. It could have been a lot better if they sang together. Jill was still bitter at the time.
One of the best unreleased performance. When Quest Love called Erika, I knew something was up. Wow!
Electrifying
I am not at the event
And I felt transported to
Philly the second Erykah took the mic.
Oh they in
Brooklyn.
Craziest part about this concert is J. Cole was in the front row
That is definitely not the craziest part
It is😂
Whew!!! this is insane!!!!!❤💫
I would fucking loved to been there
Is it just me, or did i just see someone in the Crowd video recording 📹 with a 2008 flip phone Bro 😂anyway love to see my Queens 👸🏾 lighting up the crowds ❤❤❤❤🫶🏿🫶🏿🫶🏿🫶🏿🔥🔥
🤣Yes you did and I did too, flip phones were still in use then. I a Razor Phone.
This is the best performance!!! ❤
Greatness personified!
This ❤❤❤is super duper fly
So cool so great. I love it!!
🔥🔥🔥
Back again ❤
❤
game over
Jill killed
Man, was 2006/2007 really that long ago?
It really was sadly. I'd give my left pinky toe to go back in time.
Good times
Love how the drummer was just drumming away while chit chatting to Erykah and even had to tell her when to go on😂🤣
What the hey
Obviously in
Philadelphia
This was noisy 😂
The flip phones…
This is a music nerd thing, but why is quest loves crash symbol bent
I love Jill Scott & Erykah Bari. But i’ll be honest, I’m not feeling this kind of music. 🥴Maybe, it will grow on me. I’m probably just too old for this new stuff.
This is around 2006 or 2007 it’s not new at all!!but to each their own 😮
Yeahhh I’m 28 and this song was on my iPod touch in middle school … both versions lol
This "new stuff" is actually going back to the very roots of music! If anything it is before our time, just goes to show how amazing it is, this Performance is by far my favorite version of this song
It's improvising...like they do in Jazz
The recorded song is beautiful, its this performance that's a mess, Jill Scott wants to be as loud as possible, and there seems to be tension between them here because Badu replaced Jill on the recording as she was bigger artist when it was recorded
Jimmy Fallon really put the roots on
