《Deep-fry free Salt & Pepper Tofu》
Salt and pepper tofu is easy to make, no need to fry, it can be crispy and soft on the inside!
Ingredients:
Firm tofu 600g, shallot 2pcs, garlic 3 cloves,
chilli 1-2pcs, spring onion, corn starch,
five spice powder ⅓tsp, salt ¼tsp
sesame oil ½tsp, cooking wine ½tsp

Ooo it really does look deep fried but it's fried on the stove without so much oil, I'm definitely trying this, it's so much easier than getting the oil and putting it away !

It's called shallow frying, because you're using a shallow frying pan with very little oil (or spray oil) to cook the tofu.

Boiling tightens the proteins and makes each piece less likely to break apart.
You're frying it, it's not like the title says.
Please dont just say "add appropriate amount of salt".

I just found a recipe this morning to do crispy tofu in an air fryer. Just line the AF with baking paper and put the tofu pieces in on high until crispy. It's not raw so you only have to cook till you get the crunchy outer. I don't like frying, too messy. No matter how many times you try to dry the tofu with paper towels, dish drying towels there's still heaps of liquid left. Follow her steps just don't fry in frying pan with oil but spritz the tofu with oil spray
I like to use my actifry to parboil the tofu. It works almost the same. Next time I will try this In the actifry. Peace on earth.

there are many brands of Chinese Cooking Wine but most will say "Chinese Cooking Wine ' somewhere on the bottle. Most supermarkets carry it in their international food section or Asian grocery. I mean cheap like under $5 for a large bottle, even $3. It's used to marinate etc so doesn't have to be top shelf. Brandy is a good sub but you have to balance with some sugar and high heat to burn off the alcohol

Takes to long to coat each piece and flip to every side in pan. Not worth the time for me.
It’s fried. Doesn’t matter it’s not deep fried.its just unheathly😂
