I once had a slip and fall at a supermarket. I was 8mths pregnant at the time. There were NO injuries and yet I had multiple lawyers contact me to file a lawsuit against the supermarket chain. I had friends and family insist I should sue. But I had NO injuries and suffered no pain. The pressure was so strong, that I agreed to talk to a lawyer. They immediately asked if I would be willing to go to physical therapy for my pain and suffering a few times a week so they can use for damages or whatever. WTF! I refused it all, because who has time for that? They said then they won't represent me and that was fine with me. A week later I was contacted by supermarket chain and they offered me $1000. I didn't refuse THAT. lol

Love this. Good of you to not sue due to having no injuries. Ambulance chasing lawyers are the scum of the Earth sometimes. Just looking to make an easy penny. I'm happy the the supermarket rewarded you for your honesty. It could have cost them a lot of money. I would have taken it, too and said "thank you".

“Paltrow seemed disconnected from reality when she said well we lost half a day of skiing”: The statement sounds to me like it really was no big deal to her until the other guy made it a big deal. It sounds totally legit to me, coupled with the fact that she wasn’t even interested in monetary gain.

Agree. It should be noted that this is not uncommon for women. So many woman experience sexual assaults in public throughout their lives - it is more common than actual accidents - that it makes complete sense for their mind to immediately default to what is most likely. Mine would, and I am neither a celebrity nor a highly attractive woman. I have never had a man run into me - but I have had many pretend to in order to grab or flirt or assault me.

Ms Paltrow's hypothesis immediately at the time of the collision that it might have been some sort of sexual assault is very reasonable. And remember, it was a confused thought as she tried to make sense of what was happening with a body pressed into her from behind. it was not a conclusion she reached. My one time big ski slope collision could have been perceived by onlookers as two lovers embracing each other as we slid down the slope together! We kind of embraced to lessen the impact and to try to stop ourselves from falling. We then fell and continued to slide down the slope! I suspect if someone had seen us just post impact it might have been confusing as to who had hit whom. It was my fault in that I was the upslope skier, but the person I collided into was standing still chatting to someone and I was skiing out of control, unable to turn in time.

His doctor said he had a closed tbi which means there was swelling of the brain. After a few weeks would that still have been visible? so yeah I would like to know. Item 1 -Gweneth Paltrow is most notable for being a Movie Star not peddling false products although she may have done that
Item 2 - Gweneth Paltrow was asked why she was seeking one dollar and was it symbolic, she replied that her damages were greater than $1, stating she lost a half day of skiing and was in mild discomfort. She wasn’t out of touch by saying that, she was merely replying that she incurred more damages than $1 after being asked.
Item 3- There were 2 eyewitnesses, not 1, the ski instructor was a far more credible eyewitness than Ramon and supported her version
Item 4 - Sanderson was blind in his right eye and had a cataract in his left at the time
She didn’t come off as “striking out” or being sarcastic. She was answering questions from the attorneys not taking sarcastic digs at Sanderson. This isn’t a serious criminal trial and is kind of a fun case but Dr. Grande, take it easy on Gweneth. She was hit and sued by the guy that hit her which is the real story. - He essentially takes the stance that Gw _y_ neth was the victim if anybody - not Terry.
      - He outright takes the stance that Terry's claims were stupid at best but more than likely frivolous from the go.
      - He basically outright calls Terry a money-grubbing attention seeker.
      - He thinks Terry just saw an opportunity to make easy money off of a celebrity.
      - He thinks Gwyneth ultimately won points/he had some respect for how she handled the trial.

This case would not be a thing at all if it weren’t for a big celebrity being sued. We, the public, salivate over that kind of drama. I was never a Gwyneth Paltrow fan. Could careless about her, but i do agree that she came out on top here. And it was warranted. Her version and the evidence that was able to be presented painted her as the victim in this crash.
And the fact that she didn’t pay him as most celebrities would do, but instead she intended to go to trial so as not to let this weasel guy get away with a fraudulent lawsuit, and that only elevated some respect for her that I hadn’t had before. I think this helped her reputation a bit.
But as the Dr. said she went into this with the public not thinking highly of her as it is. I think that’s shifted for her a bit. Most everyone was on her side with this and those same people are not fans of her. So that’s pretty telling. The public actually got it right and reserved their personal opinions of her and went with fairness. And what was fair was that she win this case and she did.

I didn't even know about Goop until this trial. The way people made it sound, I expected to see all kinds of crazy stuff. It's very typical fashion/beauty/female stuff, with a little gimmick shock language ( a marketing ploy) on a few of the things , which many people seem to love these days. It's very common.

IMO, Gwyneth Paltrow wasn't trying to damage the plaintiff with her thought that it might've been an attempted sexual assualt when he ran into her from behind. It was Mr. Sanderson's attorney who asked Ms. Paltrow what she thought when he slammed into her back. Ms. Paltrow said she was confused and thought for a few seconds that it could be a sexual assault or a practical joke because his skis went in between hers causing her legs to spread apart as his body pressed into her back.

Many years ago a friend I knew from work invited me to take intro skiing lessons on a baby slope ie “beginners slope” and I bumped into a cleric and his kids. We all laughed it off with the only injury being done to my ego. Gwynn was on a beginners slope and I found it hard to believe so much damage could done from such a small tiny slope. Had Gwynn been named Gwynn Brompton and was not a celeb I wonder if the case would have happened.

She was not on a beginner slope but the next thing to it, an intermediate slope, according to my interpretation of the info given during the trial.

goop isn’t as awful as Dr. G makes out - it’s for women after all - not podcasting psychologists - and no worse than many other endeavors. Why don’t you check it out yourself before making a judgment.

    Oh Darn it!
Ihave great respect for you Dr. G...however I wish you didn't accuse Gwyneth Paltrow of being so disingenuous regarding her comment to Terry...I think she's a good person that does not deserve so much hate... You were wrong here at times...called Sanderson- Anderson.
In the trial- Her lawyer said that losing an afternoon of skiing was really about losing an important outing with her new potential stepchildren and she appears to have made sure he was OK and on his feet before the ski instructor- Eric Christianson told her to go.... She was standing up to a narcissistic bully....good for her!
I didn't care about GP too much before but now I am going to be rooting for her. If for no other reason than I am tired of everyone's vitriol towards others who think differently about many things. I know that some of her products have caused controversy- one candle in particular and some of them are far fetched but I do think she deserves more compassion.

As much as I disagree with nearly everything Gwyneth Paltrow believes or says she believes in her personal life and in her business, this lawsuit was, at best, spurious; and there is no way Miss Paltrow should ever have been held liable for the plaintiff's alleged injuries. As the plaintiff, he needed to prove her liability through evidence introduced at trial, and at that he failed miserably. His attorneys should be sanctioned, and this is a possibility in civil litigation.

Hi Dr Grande, I was snowed up in a cabin in Minnesota, the TV wasn't working, and the radio signal was patchy. I stumbled upon your channel. This was two years ago. I don't always agree with you, but you've become essential listening ever since. Thank you for the great analysis.
