I have a brother who became a Muslim a few years ago. He’s convinced that he’s in the light. I’ve sent him several of your videos, with several from David Wood’s channel as well along with the research material, but he did not look at them. He said that he’s not going to watch something that’s criticizing his faith.
Thankfully, he has grown so prideful and convicted of his path that he now wants to have a debate; before, he dismissed anything that objected to his belief. I was hoping perhaps that you would be willing to have a debate with him. This could be how he finally sees the light and accept Christ.

I liked Velikovsky's explanation for the persistence of cow worship. How else do you explain verses describing the noon day sun not moving for hours during the Battle of Beth Horon, or later the reversing of the suns shadow in order to reassure a king he wasn't going to die, to say nothing of the plagues of Egypt and parting of the Red Sea. It might also explain why Hindu's hold cows sacred.
For those who would prefer to write off Velikovsky's claims about the planet Venus, he was working on another book before he died. In it, he said the ejection of Venus from Jupiter would be explained as the result of a proto-planet 10 times the size of the earth having collided with Jupiter. The mythical and religious sources being much farther back were harder to track down. Last year, data from the Juno Spacecraft determined the Jovian atmosphere is full of metal from the core out to half the planets radius. The only explanation scientists could come up with is that a planet 10 times the earths mass made a direct hit on Jupiter's core 4 million years ago.

It takes a lot to time to make research, accumulate data, organizer it, plan the video, chose the topic and relation with the data, the approach, then designing all necessary images/graphical presentation, record audio and video and sync them, organise them and compile the video as a good representation and then finalizing and publishing them! All of this you get in a short video with impeccable research!

Love your content. I was a Muslim convert for 10 years, and now thanks to yourself and others I have seen through the religion. I am still not convinced of Christianity though, maybe in my own time and research, but as far as Islam is concerned I really can't take it seriously anymore.

What were the early problems: how you coped with your parents, relatives?
my parents were actually supportive, not so much my Grandparents but they are of that generation. At first, it made me happy because I was introduced to a westernised version of Islam i.e miracles of the Quran, Islam means peace etc but I very quickly got led into the extremist path and I fully believed as well that this was the truth and I became extremely heart hearted and miserable and I lost all my friends and family. I eventually overcame the extremist phase but it took many years, I was hardline Salafi, afterwards, I loosened up and became a Sufi, then just a general Muslim without any sectarianism and tried to follow a modern path but ultimately could not have any questions answered and found that Islam has many loopholes and unanswerable questions when it comes to the justice of God, Hell, The Prophet etc and after filtering through it all again I came to see that I had been duped by the so-called 'miracles' of the Quran, and Muslim scholars have to repeatedly defend their prophet's actions etc... I could go on for a long time listing everything but once you take a step back and re-evaluate it all, it all seems so silly and far-fetched

And a variant in the Quran gave commentators another option- the messenger’s horse.

In all seriousness, you should do your commentary collection of the Quran in the light of the Talmud. I think Christian commentators should step in and comment on this book in the light of the Bible. So the muslims might have a different perspective of it. That's one way to preach the gospel to them and stay diplomatic about it without offending these people and stay outside of their Blasphemic laws.
We need competitors against Ibn Katheer or Al Jalalayn the most respected sunni classic commentators.

Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy. Satan also comes disguised as an "angel of light, teaching a different gospel" to lead people away from the Christ. Satan is the great deceiver. "Allah" is the great deceiver. So we know the origin of Islam.

You think you can read the Bible like you read a quran. The quran is made up of gobs of disconnected verses. But the Bible is not like that. In order to understand verses, you need to read the book the verse is within, study the exegesis.
There are certain phrases used in the New Testament that are from the Old Testament. If you are unfamiliar with them- then don't just guess.
What arrogant muslims do, is akin to signing up for a math or science class, refusing to study the textbook, then arrogantly guessing about the concepts and arguing with other students who study and also arguing with the teacher.
You don't know the Bible, so stop thinking you can "teach" anyone about it.

Thanks for an excellent presentation. May I ask, I'm confused as to the dating of the Merkabah documents. They're not part of the Talmud, are they? I think Genisah fragments are mentioned. Is it that the traditions were known to pre-date Islam, and with what certainty are we saying this?
There is at least one recension of hekhalot literature that is pre-Talmudic. Merkabah mysticism emerged well before Islam.

Once the Prophet wrote a letter or had an idea of writing a letter. The Prophet was told that they (rulers) would not read letters unless they were sealed. So the Prophet got a silver ring made with "Muhammad Allah's Apostle" engraved on it. As if I were just observing its white glitter in the hand of the Prophet… (Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 3, Number 65)
Narrated 'Ursa:
The Prophet wrote the (marriage contract) with 'Aisha while she was six years old and consummated his marriage with her while she was nine years old and she remained with him for nine years (i.e. till his death). (Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 62, Number 88)
Narrated 'Ubaidullah bin 'Abdullah:
Ibn 'Abbas said, "When the ailment of the Prophet became worse, he said, 'Bring for me (writing) paper and I will write for you a statement after which you will not go astray.' But 'Umar said, 'The Prophet is seriously ill, and we have got Allah's Book with us and that is sufficient for us.' But the companions of the Prophet differed about this and there was a hue and cry. On that the Prophet said to them, 'Go away (and leave me alone). It is not right that you should quarrel in front of me." Ibn 'Abbas came out saying, ""It was most unfortunate (a great disaster) that Allah's Apostle was prevented from writing that statement for them because of their disagreement and noise. (Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 3, Number 114)
Narrated Yazid ibn Abdullah:
We were at Mirbad. A man with dishevelled hair and holding a piece of red skin in his hand came.
We said: You appear to be a bedouin. He said: Yes. We said: Give us this piece of skin in your hand. He then gave it to us and we read it. It contained the text: "From Muhammad, Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him), to Banu Zuhayr ibn Uqaysh. If you bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is the Apostle of Allah, offer prayer, pay zakat, pay the fifth from the booty, and the portion of the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) and his special portion (safi), you will be under by the protection of Allah and His Apostle."
We then asked: Who wrote this document for you? He replied: THE APOSTLE OF ALLAH (peace_be_upon_him). (Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 19, Number 2993). So the claim that Muhammad had miracle of Quran because he couldn't read is false.
Off topic question: What is the significance of smoke in Merkabah mysticism? (You mentioned it in one of your videos, but never expounded on it.)
Asking what is concealed in one’s mind is a way of testing the psychic powers of a mystic. Muhammad posed this challenge to the boy mystic Ibn Sayed. The boy responded: “It is just smoke.” Muhammad was thinking of a corresponding verse in the Quran. The boy read his mind.

There appears to be a contradiction between Genesis 22:14 and Exodus 6:3 regarding whether or not Abraham knew the sacred name of God. I discovered it while doing some research and I would love to see *somebody* address this topic. You seem to be the perfect person to ask because of your extensive knowledge of the Old Testament and Rabbinic commentary. Normally I'm pretty good at resolving apparent contradictions in scripture, but this one has me totally stumped. Obviously, whether or not you cover this topic is totally up to you and I understand either way. Regardless, I like your work. God Bless.
Though I am not Christian and probably never will be, I really like your videos about Islam. It seems that you do a lot of research. Have you taken religious studies in university or is it just research done on your own? Either way, impressive.
Both...the problem is there isn’t a formal curriculum for Merkabah mysticism’s influence on Islam. Likewise, it’s hard to take a course on rabbinic exegesis. So these studies are a cross-disciplinary effort. Fundamental is a careful reading of many pages of complex literature. I find it fascinating.

There is a Muslim "scholar" on RUclips saying that the Bible is wrong because mosse name is wrong (although the Muslims also name him mosses) but I know that you are pretty good in Hebrew so I A ask is that theory old and debunked or is it just something that he came up with
@Islam critiqued: תּוֹדָה רַבָּה for your work! Your videos advance our insight in biblical texts, at the same time they are revelatory about the root of quranic texts. Sometimes I think you could even reach a larger audience by a more linear narrative style and by using visual elements 🐂🐮🌴🌅
In this video, I think it would have been helpful if you would have first presented a summary both of the quranic text as well as Ezekiel's vision before you start drawing connection. I also you could decorate your message by the use of pictures (Ezekiels vision, golden calf, ...). These are 'tricks' help to memorize the story greatly, cf. e.g. the visual style of your colleague "inspiring philosophy".

Yes, it's interesting that so much of the Qur'an derives from Jewish Midrashic/Talmudic/Kabbalistic texts. Something I discovered just the other day is that the Qur'anic practice of 'tayammum', i.e., ritual ablution using dust or sand, likely derives from Berakhot 15a, wherein the same practice is prescribed in cases where water is not available.
There are numerous Islamic texts you can line up with the Talmud and hardly tell a difference. In the next video, I'll review one such example: trees that speak.

I like the quick comedy break XD. What do you think led to Jewish mystics to interpolate the merkobah ox onto the Genesis idolatry story? That seems like a really heavy reach. Maybe this was a well-known myth that remained popular in the culture from before the Ezekiel account?

Jesus challenged the young man, who was focused on his works, to reconsider his definition of "good." If you care, that's the explanation. However, it's more likely you're a biblically illiterate Muslim incapable of consistent interpretation.
