    Selling reagents on the market board that are worth a few hundred gil isn't worth it, he says. And, yet, I was lvl 30 something (Currently lvl 60 on main. I'm new) when I made my first million gil, selling stacks of things like rocksalt, quicksilver and iron ore, that I bought from the reagent merchant (literaly right next to the retainer bell) for 3 gil ea. and sold for 40 gil ea. Never under estimate how lazy some people are. They'll rather pay a few thousand gil at the market board for a stack of reagents they could have easily bought for less than 200 gil at the merchant 😅

    Personally, I do think it is a good idea to buy gear for your alt jobs, but only for the up coming levels.
    For example, if the class is below lvl 50, buy only the lvl 50 poetics set.
    Back when I was a new player, playing all the jobs as I progressed my MSQ, I struggled to earn enough poetics to buy the gear I needed for my jobs.
    The 2000 cap of poetics is not enough to buy a fullset of gear, and doing your dailies only gives you 1000-1500 poetics.
    I think the armory chest is definitely sufficient enough to store multiple sets of the same type of gear at different levels (Except weapons)
    And there's definitely other uses for poetics other than gear, such as relic weapon materials, misc items and items which you can sell for Gil.

  • @Reinshark
    @Reinshark Год назад +1

    In case you're skeptical about downgrading HQ items: all crafting classes get a skill which, at higher levels, instantly fills their quality meter for any crafted item of level 80 or below. That means they don't need an increase to quality from HQ reagents, because they just have to press one button to make quality irrelevant (again, except for 81+ materials), which means HQ and normal items are, for most intents and purposes, exactly the same. I didn't realize this for a while, which made me think low-level HQ materials were more valuable than they actually were.

    • @manandtoy
      @manandtoy Год назад

      I think they still have a market though. For people who are currently levelling crafters and need HQ for their Job Quest turn ins. Especially because they quite often out-level their gear without realising. Not a huge market by all means and only specific mats but they do still have uses.

    • @Reinshark
      @Reinshark Год назад

      @@manandtoy Yeah, I'm not suggesting HQ mats are COMPLETELY useless-only that there is a much smaller market for them than you might expect, since higher-level crafters simply don't need them AT ALL to produce HQ items. There are definitely a few niche needs for HQ items, as you suggest, but for "beginners" (the target audience of this video) those aren't really worth focusing on.

    • @alaaesong164
      @alaaesong164 Год назад

      @@Reinshark it's funny you say this, because the majority of my mats don't sell unless they're HQ. Say what you want, but MOST people prefer HQ mats, especially those who aren't super into crafting and have a ton of macros lined up like the rest of to make HQ gear without HQ ingredients

    • @Reinshark
      @Reinshark Год назад

      @@alaaesong164 Outside of certain items required for HW DoH job quests, and level 81-90 items, the distinction is meaningless. Furthermore, the Market Board interface shows the purchase history for items with the prices paid, and there is no indication there that HQ items sell for more value or sell more frequently. I'll trust the MB data over your one anecdote.

    As a Free Trial player, it's hard to balance a clean inventory while having the 300k gil cap. I've started collecting the gil pouches from quests to save space, and selling normal crafted materials, only keeping the enhanced versions.
    Lately I just got to HW and, just to spend gil to sell inventory items, bought the entire Ninja set for both lvl 58 and 60. Still had about 50k gil left, but let me open my inventory again so I can focus on my next job and items for them. Ended up reselling the lvl58 ninja set after reaching lvl60, but the idea was to open the gil so selling items wasn't a complete waste.

    • @max7971
      @max7971 Год назад +1

      Didn’t you just waste the gil by buying for a lot, and selling for a fraction? I bought a stacks of top lvl repair thingy, and a full stack of chokobo cabbage, but after reaching the cap for 3rd time I just can’t be bothered anymore. The money is easy to get anyway, no need to worry about those few thousand Gil you left on the table.

    • @lonlywolf5680
      @lonlywolf5680 Год назад

      @max7971 The point was to open inventory slots. As a f2p player, wasting the gil on things I might need, to be able to open the ability to sell the load of small gil items gumming up my inventory was kind of the point. Even leveling crafters, I end up buying, for instance, iron ore to make iron ingots, and sell them after crafting them. Loss of gil, but doesn't waste the gil I'd otherwise lose from just selling everything while I'm gil capped.
      Keeps my inventory cleaner while still keeping some gil for TPing and other small things

    Small addition from me personal rules: npc-sell things that only worth less than 200 gil or worth less than twice of npc-sell worth, latter one mostly for things like materias since their grade 9 or lower r now considered worthless over mb these days as of current (also applies to any over-meldable ones on future expansions). There's enough armoury space to have a set of each poetic gear for every job type for lv50 to lv80, might as well make use of it and it's nice to already have the gear ready when you do start levelling those jobs. There otherwise isn't much of value to spend poetics on.
    And I wouldn't suggest downgrading all low level HQ items, check the value first. There's always a market for them as there's often times people who are levelling their crafter jobs but are too lazy to do the gathering for everything.

    Yeah just a note. Shire gear is bought with tomes which is capped for gains until much later in the game and typically is the best gear set for 5-8 levels after their required equip level. Most jobs in the same role type use the same gear so time gear isn’t always worth the pitifully small amount of GC seals you get in return. Now vendoring all the floor trash from duties absolutely go nuts because if you rerun those duties you won’t even be able to get dupes until you GC vendor them so there is no point in hanging into those.

  • @MgelikaXevi

    Overall great video, but I don`t quite agree on poetics. Mb it is because i level a lot of jobs, so i constantly need them - buying gear in advance is the only way for me.
    Would be cool if a cap for poetics would be as high as for seals, but alas..
    As for items you get along the way - unless they were from a treasure map chest, or unless they are from "extremes" - yeah, they are not particularly valuable.
    Stuff that drops at the rate, enough for you to accumulate said items - usually is cheap.
    Still, getting even 1000 gil for bunch of hides is not that bad, just don`t lose you mind trying to get rich on those easily obtainable items.

      Your jobs on retainers do matter. You can have either:
      BOT/MIN/FISH -
      DoL Gatherer retainers who can be sent out to gather any materials depending on their class (ores/wood/fish etc). They can only bring back items you have gathered previously yourself.
      These are affected by Gathering stat on their gear. Higher gathering stat allows them to gather higher level items and increases number of items obtained during the venture. Depending on the mat this can be anywhere between one (for rare mats like Thanalan topsoil) and 50 of a single item.
      DoM/DoW -
      Hunter retainers who are able to gather skins and drops from beasts in the world. Does not matter if you have or haven't obtained them before. They will gather mats up to their level.
      These are affected by iLevel stat on their gear. Higher iLvl stat allows them to hunt higher level items and increases number of items obtained during the venture to a max of 15 per item.

    • @manandtoy
      @manandtoy Год назад

      Oh forgot to say your retainer level cannot exceed your own in that particular job/class. So if you're not planning on levelling DoL (Gatherer) classes don't make them that. Likewise if you've started a DoM/DoW job but don't plan on levelling it up, don't make them that either.
      You can change your retainers job by purchasing an item from the retainer vocate for 40 ventures. You strip your retainer of their gear and the option should pop up to change their job. This will reset them back to 0 and they will need to be levelled up again.

    Will try to implemente these on both my retainers and my inventory, Thnks
