My Vega-Trem install went really well, actually, the installation video provided by Vega-Trem was really comprehensive, and it wasn't too difficult at all. It was about a thirty five minute install.

I totaled the install with setup and intonation time

@@SeanPierceJohnson Now that mine has been on for two months I need to adjust the action and the intonation and I'm noticing that the fine tuning screws are really tight almost like the ones on a BadAss bridge, making this harder than I expected it to be.

Thanx. My only beef is one can best tell the difference in tone by hearing each bridge PU played right after the other not having to wait until one hears the neck PU before comparing. Better yet hearing repetition of going back and forth between the the same pair of samples about 4 times would be perfect. I had to do it manually which was a total hassle. Both bridges sounded very different. The Gotoh pushed up the mids in the center. I am guessing 500 where the Vega pushed up more around 1K. I prefered the Vega as it adds definition. Neither thinned the sound.
I love the guitar not being a boring Strat but a Tele not associated with a 'serious' whammy.
THANX ....for the demo as I literally take all 10 of my guitars to a gig and use every single one live. At 77 I am thinking of downsizing to two or 3, and a serious whammy is a given for one.

Oddly, the Vega has an attenuated low frequency response. So while certain not a “roll off” it’s less boomy. The midrange is definitely shifted without sacrificing body.
I actually was going to put the Vega in a Strat…but then a gold one arrived and it was like “this won’t look good on a guitar with chrome everything else”.

Totally dig it bro! I've been super curious about those trems but didn't know anybody that's tried them out. Well done!

I can’t believe how bright and beautiful the VegaTrem sounds. If I’m not mistaken, it has better sustain than the Gotoh!

i THINK you may be right. but there is definitely a low end roll off the brightens things up.

Hey, I’ve used whammy’s for 30+ years. Floyd’s, Kahler, stock Fenders, etc. When I saw you loosen the cap and effortlessly pull the bar off I just wondered why every time I try to remove the arm it resist so much I’m afraid to pull any harder? The screw on cap is totally off and loose but the bar has a long white plastic grommet looking piece to keep from wobbling. What the heck am I missing? 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I was hesitant but just grew weary of changing strings on the Floyd’s. Then there is the intonation on Floyds & aftermarket “bediddler”(?). I have the 6 screw drop in and it was a straight forward process. Level it out and it’s stable! Locking tuners are a must and they also make string changes a breeze! GraphTech TusqX or I’ve seen roller nuts. And nut sauce doesn’t hurt. Just need free movement. I used the 2 Med tension springs recommended for 10 gauge but felt to “easy” after years of Floyd Roses. I put a 3rd light tension in middle and it’s much better. Idk if it’s recommended or not but I did it.

I haven't used one but, haven't heard one bad thing about the Vega Trem. Also, a fully floating Floyd ain't for sissies.

I do love full floating Floyd’s like on the JEM

So what was the problem that you had to re do the job?

    • @SeanPierceJohnson
      @SeanPierceJohnson  4 месяца назад +1

I was trying to stress test the springs pulling back and it caused the bridge to come unseated from the knife edge.
Due to the string tension, the bridge was stuck in a shallow diagonal orientation with the G, B and E strings being pulled towards the nut.
The tension of the strings made it impossible to move so I had to take off the strings and re-seat the bridge.
