    I put one in my Vintage V6 and actually had to use my dremel to remove a tiny bit of material at the sides of the route hole to fit the unit but the good news is that it hides the hole much better than a Fender! So far its pretty cool but I need to become accustomed to the feel. I am using the recommended medium springs with 10 to 46 strings. Maybe the higher tension would give a slightly firmer feel? I actually found the tone better and more focused.

      How are you getting on with the trem a year on? Did you stick with the medium springs?

    • @jerbear1601
      @jerbear1601 3 года назад

      @@musoseven8218 No, I actually put in 3 springs (2 mediums and another basically the same) as I found it more stable for staying in tune. A looser feel will not pull the strings back into tune as reliably. It may seem easier to use but with increased firmness I found it more controllable and stable. I really do love it though, it does take some time to get it to balance but it seems to be best with the bridge being as close to parallel to the top of the guitar as possible by tightening the claw until it is balanced. I love the Vegatrem and it is everything that I wanted. With just about any trem without nutblocks you may need to give it a quick pull up to reset after a dive bomb.

    Hi Jon, I know you have many projects, but I have two questions that may be helpful to a lot of subscribers choosing between bridges on a new guitar. 1) is vigorous string bending more challenging with a floating bridge, because the strings and hardware are connected and you are actually pulling the bridge forward? 2) if a string is bent enough, on a floating bridge the other strings go flat, so unison bends involving two adjacent strings (one bent, one not) with a heavy bend a la Gary Moore, etc will sound way off?
    Whether you have time to answer or not, I have learned so much after reviewing your videos over the last five years!

      I was pondering that (a string snapping) in a gig situation - not that I gig these days. On my Fender System One ('Contemporary' Japanese Fender HH Strat) I fitted a device after a string break during a solo at a gig - embarrassing - that was thirty plus years ago and I forget the name of the device (I never have to take the backplate off as it has a large slotted aperture for the strings - they still get trapped from time to time when replacing them though) - it did a similar job as some of the Ibanez terms, although it's far from perfect.

    Sadly it just did not work for me. A couple of points... 1: Faulty spring twisted so badly it would not stay on the claw. 2: No response from Vega Trem. I had no choice but to return to Thomann as the support was not there. When I did try the Vega trem I have to say that it was very smooth but never stayed in tune, no amount of balancing helped. It became a real pain. Eventually I changed the nut for a Tusq XL self lubricating and it improved the tuning. However, my standard Fender two point trem is perfect since the Nut change and better as far as tuning goes. The only difference is that the Vega trem is smoother on the downward plunge. The price tag can never be justified. My advice is to keep your fender trem and work from that point...look at the nut, saddles rough edges on the block etc and you will be pleasantly surprised at the results. Vega Trem really need to respond to customers. If there is no support, then there is no product worth pursuing or buying. Great Video...great guitarist !

    Great musicianship - really enjoyable 🎸👍 A great review too👍
    The Vega trem seems superb, really compliments the Strat. I've had four Japanese Strats - I still have two, my oldest I purchased new in about 1986 - always found the build quality to be superb, yet full of character (I have uprated the pickups though - usually to Seymour Duncans. 1980s Japanese Strats in UK had issues with lower output pickups, something to do with export/import considerations so I was once told). I've had other Japanese brands of guitar too and found them great value for money, very playable and, dare I say it, back in the 1980s, better quality than US made guitars. I had a Yamaha Pacifica - HSS base model - superb, but lacked character and soul of my Japanese Fenders.

    Floyd rose is dead.
    Vega-trem with lsr rollernht and locking tuners. For a trem that outperforms floyd and flutters so much better than even an OFR.
