Truly, Malawi cichlids are the fishes of heaven.
I was thinking exactly that while watching this!
That’s insane that kind of diversity and in such high numbers, when the landscape looks so baron! Always been a reef tank guy so had no idea a fresh water environment would be so amazing.
insanity4224 same here I never thought
Malawi is also known as the freshwater reefs.
as there are stone reefs and the fish are so colorful :)
but there are most color on the Mbuna group.
Mbuna is malawi for stone grazers, and called that as they live by the stone reefs eating of the algae on the stones. :)
if you want to try and keep malawi get 1 of the 4 groups the cichlids are divided into, and the Mbuna group is the one who need the least space, but can be the most aggressive.
Kept Africa in cichlids back in the 70's when they were hard to get. Great fish.
Wie immer.. Aufnahmen und Musik ein absoluter Genuß!
Thank you very much 😁
nothing more beautiful than watching the fish in their natural environment
thanks for showing these beautiful lake fishes in their real habitat, have seen them only in aquarium shops.
Welcome to subscribe. There are many more videos on the way.
Cichlids are just as beautiful as any seawater tropical fish. You picked the perfect track for the video as well. Cheers!
This is the best video of Lake Malawi species on youtube, hands down. Congratulations on your work!
totally agreed
If I could, I would give 10 like at least. Great Job. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Beautiful! Amazing to see these familiar fish in their natural environment. Thank you!
How cool. To dive with the fish most of us only see at the aquarium or pet store.
Fantastic footage!
Thank you!
This was expertly shot and very well done. Great video!
Thanks for this beautiful video

one of the best i've seen of the lake, amazing!!

Wow, what a pleasure to see all these beautiful fish swimming freely. Thumbs Up Hagebycikliden!
The best Lake Malawi movie i have ever seen. Congrats
Thanks 😁
Amazing video, thanks
I've had many of these in a chiclid tank I had years ago! Very kul!
Hello,
Thank you very much for this beautiful film !
Best wishes !
Jean-Charles Bourquin, in France
Thanks for this video. Thank you very much.
Are used to have cichlids and I enjoyed watching them breed! Busch gardens in Florida has a huge Cichlid tank and this video reminded me of that.
Thanks appreciate the names, good job.
Underbart! Tack
très belle vidéo, gros plan de qualité. merci beaucoup
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME Video!!
Spectacular Footage! Great Job!!!
Amazing video, my favorite fishes !
Every single of them has its attractiveness. So Impressive!!!
Thank you Pandora, there more videos on the chanel.
Superbe 👍 bravo merci beaucoup 😊 pour ce moment
Excellent footage!
💯
Outstanding video...thank you for bringing these beautiful fish from the wild into our living rooms. I also like that you put up the scientific names for each species!!
Zikomo 👍
Very beautyfull
very beautiful! I like malawian cichlids.
What a magnificent place the Lake Malawi and its wonderful, colorful fish 😍
@Jamey Craig Yes, unfortunately I know 😕
best lake malawi video on cichlids I have seen beautiful
Thanks 😀
Very impressive!
Amazing video
Really cool video. I had a whole tank of Cichlids and never saw them in the wild. Great job!
Thanks for that!!!!
A beautiful film, you can ask for more of these materials 😊🐟🇲🇼💪 Greetings
Incredible! 🙌
Thank you Brett!
I love it..nice nice...
Super Great video!
Very cool getting the Bagrus on camera seeing as how it it critically endangered. Cheers
Well done!!
Wow I so want to go diving in lake malawi 😍
Thanks.
No hay un solo documental - vídeo en el que se fije atención en el bentos. También es vida, no sólo peces, ¡ Que también)...😊
Normally full coulered males are shy for divers. And not easy to make photos and videos 🇲🇼
Balıklar doğal ortamlarında ne kadar da güzeller, ne kadar büyüksün Allah ım ☝🏼
So beautiful 😍
Great! Thx!!!
Thank you 🙏
me encanta, sueño todos los dias con los mbunas. tengo un acuario de 550 litros lleno de ellos, pero la libertad de verles en su habitat me impresiona.
wow beautiful
Awesome
Just Wow.....
Im also taking notes of the background. Just recently set up a 100 gallon aquarium....got the sand. Now i just need rocks to make it look like their motherland haha
For sure Lake Malawi/Nyasa is rich in fish fauna worldwide.
Yes, so many species, incredible!
I didn't want the video to stop! DVDs would sell like hot cakes with this kind of clearity
Fantastic vlog well documented and informative regarding the many types of fish one thing you will not find is any plants 🌱 just algae as this is what they feed on😀👍
Unfortunately I can’t put 100k thumbs up. Incredible good job guy!
I want every single one/kind. My favorite fish of all time
My favorite is pseudotropheus demasoni and labidochromis caeruleos
lugar lindo
wow 0:40 never seen juvenile fish can hide or do "nap time" inside the bigger fish mouth,
My counrty so beautiful, time to buy land by the beach.
Seeing the fish chase the other just as they do in the tank 0:48
"Your tank is too small" said nobody
Wow, the wild P. Elongatus are so stunning! Might need to add some wild caught into my breeding setup
one of my favs is the Mpanga elongatus, check this one out... ruclips.net/video/1k0v7TwLBKk/видео.html
@@twasbrillig33
Mpangas are what I breed! Got the entire colony from a guy who was cutting down to concentrate on other species
@@UnyieldingRylanor WTF! no kidding! lol, they are my all time fav. do you sell/ship?
@@twasbrillig33
Not yet! My current juvies are all spoken for, but I do have about 15 fry from the most recent mating
The males are not nearly as stunning as that F1, and I haven't been able source a healthy replacement locally. Every fish store that stocks them has serious sunken belly going on. I'll have to post a video of my tanks at some point, got Venustus and OB Peacocks breeding too, as well as some 333s we're growing
Actually, close to a year ago!
ruclips.net/video/XRmPWgy-4A8/видео.html
As you can see, the male isn't too stunning for the species. But he rules the tank and won't move him on till I have a quality replacement
Need more videos....👌👌👌
Comming soon😀
Nice
That fish that swallows all it’s babies is hysterical.
*Song is beautiful. Can't find it on his site though.*
I think you've done the best Malawi film on youtube bar non.Great photography,a great array of fish and spawning to boot. I like the mix of old time favorite fish and fish new to me like that big Yellow Boulanger(?)..the music wasn't intrusive.
One thing that gets me? The huge amount of fish feces all over the rocks. Lake Malawi would never win best of show with such poor filtration system.
Another,is ..where is the food? I cant believe such thin washes of algae on those rocks fatten up millions of fish. I never spotted any rotifers floating by...no worms the substrate. Amazing.
I agree this is the best Malawi film I've seen so far, it's outstanding! As for the fish poop, I'm surprised the entire lake doesn't die from Malawi Bloat with all that fish poop, however are we sure that is fish poop? As for the food supply, I know right?!! Although it's my understanding during certain times of the year large swarms of midges swarm over the lake having emerged from larval form, and it's said that during these times is when they fatten up. So perhaps there's a lot more insect protein in the lake we don't see.
@Jamey Craig It really is a great nature vid Jamey ,I had to watch it again from start to finish. You should think of making one like this for an hour..maybe some underwater feeder stream footage of the African water plants ( extremely few and blurry exist)and stream fish. It was great to see Pseudotropheus.fuelleborni, one of my original African fish keeps..peaceful with that unique look on its.."face".
Thanks for all.
0:41 are we all gonna just pretend this didnt happen?
worldsmostattractiveman RIGHT?! I came to the comments to see if anyone mentioned that
HAHAHA! such a funny comment. Worldsmostattractiveman! this is a "mouthbrooder" which means that she is protecting her young by placing them in her mouth. She doesn't swallow them. She signals to her babies which swim to her mouth, then swims away to release them in a safer location.
Thats the mom carrying her fry
duh.
Some species of cichlids females are one of the greatest mothers in nature. The word nurturing is accurate when you describe them.
❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏
Thanx! We are soon going to publish more videos of malawi cichlids in the wild.
🐟🐟🐟😍😍👍👌
👍
So is the food chain based around algal growth on rocks? There seems no aquatic vegetation.
Geoff Breen yes it is:)
@@Axel-ss5wd Amazing. Helps explain the big rubbery lips on so many fish.
Geoff...the "Aufwuchs" or Periphyton is a complex mixture of algae, cyanobacteria, heterotrophic microbes, and detritus that is attached to submerged surfaces in most aquatic ecosystems (spe the mbuna specifically have adapted well at grazing on this layer. Check out this great article regarding it... www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/aufwuchs.php
I was the 100ooo view 👍🔥🔥🔥🔥
0:40 did that fish just swallowed all the little ones, holy crap 😂🤣LMFAO
She is mom of that fish
👍👍👍👀💓🐟🔥🔥🔥класс! Да ещё + название рыбы на латинском💪👍
These fishes are coral reef fishes of sweet water
That's a lot of fish living off just algae scrapped off rocks. It's not even green algae,no,never see that, but some kind of reddish brown algae. Must be nutritious, have lots of carotene to give color to the fish.
You watch this and half expect to see a Giant Clam, maybe a few feather corals going back and forth in the waves.
👍👍👉👉🔔🔔🔔🔔
That white first at the start literally inhaled those fish.
lol
She didn't eat them she's a mouth breeder
James Bradley I need to find myself a mouth breeder.
I'm not sure the tank is big enough for that many
Echo en falta atención en el bentos ( algas, briozoos, esponjas, moluscos, crustáceos, etc...)
You mean bentochromis Tanganyika?
@@hagebycikliden569 ¡ Bentos! Briozoos, esponjas, moluscos, cangrejos, medusas, etc...
If I had a fish tank, I would definitely put these fish in it.
I would catch them all and put them In my aquarium
What's the tank size.
1800 liter
❤! What is the name of black fish 4:30 ?
Not easy but I think some kind of petrotilapia or trpheops
@@hagebycikliden569 I see such black fish often. but, I have never seen such black fish in aquariums. what could it be? very interesting color for cichlids. sorry if i spelled wrong (my english is very bad)
aren't there dangerous crocodiles in that lake?
@Haroon Abdul Majeed pretty sure i saw a documentary about hunting them
alah eta lauk na jol ararasup ka mulutna deui
Nice Vid! But on 3.55 this is Metriaclima fainzilberi.
Everybody need new names :)
@@hagebycikliden569 ahah i was going to say the same thing but then I read this comment and your hilarious reply
Damn I wish I was there I could have caught enough to feel my tank up..
lol
To "feel your tank up"? That's a pretty unique kink you've got there dude.
my @
amazing work..but if u write female or male with each fish names appearing in the video..would be more helpful to differentiate between them
