  • Hey everyone! Welcome back to my channel. In today's video, there’s been a bit of a curve ball in my marathon training journey - dealing with a running injury. It’s been a mental battle and my first injury as I am a beginner runner.

In a similar situation, I’ve had problems with my hip flexors for a couple of weeks. I have found ways to manage the pain, but it’s not a permanent solution. I am 6 weeks away for my first marathon 😢

I’m in a very similar situation myself! Marathon in April and I developed shin splints after my Half Marathon in
October year. It was gutting to realise I’d need to stop running for at least 2 weeks maybe even 3 or 4! I’m currently near the end of week 2 and have stuck to my running plan but instead of my fast/interval runs I’ve been using a spin bike and for my long run / slower runs I’ve been swimming. I’m just hoping some of this training transfers when I finally get back to running 😩 it’s been a rough couple of weeks and I’ll probably have to bail on a 10k race next weekend but we’re nearly there 🙌🏻 Fingers crossed you’re able to run soon! And good luck with your marathon training!!

Ahh good on you for still sticking to your plan with the bike though, it’s so hard to stay motivated when injured 😭

@@Runswithemily It really is! Especially when all you want to be doing is running 😭 Its hard to see everyone else running when you're not allowed 😅

@@jordangregory-wallis5507 so relatable! My boyfriend wasn’t allowed to talk about his runs because I wanted to cry every time 😂😂 (bit dramatic, I know)

@@merel181 haha not even dramatic! I think might cry on my test run tomorrow 😂😂 (tears of joy if it goes well or sadness if not). It’s horrible because when I’m swimming in my gym the treadmills are lined up against the window to the pool so I just watch people doing what I want to be doing whilst I’ve got to swim 🙃

I admire your dedication! I‘ve been sick for two weeks and since then I haven‘t started running again although I want to run a 5km on New Years Eve. Before I felt ill, I could run 8km no problem but now I just can‘t motivate myself to go out and start over again.
I hope you feel better by now!! 😊
Lots of love from Germany :)

Aw start off with a run/walk to get yourself back into it, that's what I've been doing :)

Emily, sending you much ❤❤❤ for a quick and complete recovery, always hard to be patient to take a break during training because of an injury.
