Is that the 8:11 per mile pace? Obviously everyone is different. I've only been running since August and I'm in my early 40s. But that's my easy run pace. I wouldn't call it fast to be fair. Anything below 6 min per mile is still very fast for me. But I'm working on it.
Same! I just committed to a 7.5 mile leg in a relay in December, and I’ll be absolutely chuffed if I do that anywhere under 9 minute pace. An “easy” 7:18/mile is insane!
Just remember, running is all relative! I run 11:30 miles for easy and 10:30 for "hard." And you know what? That is good feelings for me when I do it on long distances! I'll never be Kiptum, and I don't need to be because I'm me and that's good enough 🙂
@@molochz I'd assumed it was the 7:18/mile pace -- and I'd agree with them, I ran 7:09 for my 10k race, was *ecstatic* with the result, and came 7th/~500 women. Very few of my runs average anything under 7:50: I do a lot of tempo/intervals with 20-40 mins of warm up/cool down to get the miles on my legs. To be honest, even if they were talking about the 8:11, I think your comment is a bit unnecessary. Running pace is relative, and we can't all be as fast as Phily!
The track session in the mist/fog looked really cool and now I want mist/fog to run in. The horses and cows everywhere, with that view, just fantastic!
Thank you for letting us see exactly what goes on in a week for an elite runner! My highest training mileage so far is 76 miles, but I'm hoping to hit 80+ in Jan or Feb as I train for the Brighton Marathon
As someone who is about to do their first ever marathon I just want to say thank you for sharing so much of your training with us, it is so inspiring and motivating 😊
Love it! These videos are so insipiring. Gonna do my physio exercise now. Idea/request: relate the paces to your target marathon/10k/threshold/etc paces, whatever you're comfortable sharing.
Love that you promote therapy as such a positive thing to do - It’s so helpful having such a positive and mainstream view of everyone seeing some therapy as a good thing 🤗🙌🤗🙌
Can you do a video about your activation routine? Something I really struggle knowing what to do and then revert to not doing any. Would love a routine!
The more fun you can create the better and you're doing a good job of it . . . Having friends helps a LOT as well. My friends keep dragging me off to hike mountains that I would not do if not for there friendship . . . I'm really feeling the benefit.
That was a big week for you! It made me remember my college days of 100+ mile weeks were the norm. Somehow they didn't seem as much fun as you had??? Thank for bringing us along on your journey, it is a grind!
Was busy and tired this weekend, meant to only do 4 miles (7K) this weekend but it got too dark... Now you inspire me to put in the 1% strength work Ive been putting off the whole week!
7 relentless days. What do you think about a day off? Rest and recovery are part of training. IMHO, from a 71 yo. hobby jogger. Love your videos. Inspiring and motivating. 😎😎
Just out of curiosity, when you complete a week like this and you NAILED all your target paces, does your coach make the next week’s goal paces faster? Keep paces the same but extend distances? Or do you aim for consistent 100% execution at similar levels in consecutive weeks? Great job, by the way, both on the training and video!
Phily (or Dan!)! That tab situation at 3:49 literally made me scream 😱.... RIP laptop, it's been nice knowing you... 🤣 There's not enough RAM in the universe to deal with that...
Another great video. Keeps me motivated even though I’m an older guy still trying to beat my P.B.’s and doing it too thanks in a large part to your good self. Can I ask a question? What time would you need to run to convince the selectors that you should go to Paris? I know Charlotte has a 2:22 and the official time needed is a 2:26.
Thanks for sharing your week. Font Remeu is definitely the best and most inspiring destination for european athletes like yourself, there are just champions at every corner. Great session with Alessia Zarbo👏👏. "Oulala, il fait froid" ;)
Also, Philly, your French is really coming along (I live and work here). As you are in the south west of France, many people will call pain au chocolat "une chocolatine". Go on! Try it...
I love Philly so much!! I’m running my first ever race, a half marathon, and these videos are sooo encouraging! I just love seeing women runners “loving the bring” and getting the running done ☺️🏃🏾
PB -your videos are so fun and inspiring!! Thanks for sharing! Nice to know that I could join you (in theory) and your fellow elites for a 20 mile long run😎 Love the grind!! 👍
I just ran my third half marathon and did a new PR! I'm a swimmer, but you've inspired me so much this year to run my 21K, and while I was running I remembered to smile all the time, just as you did on the Copenhagen Marathon ❤ I love your videos and Dan's editing! Besos from Mexico City
Question, I notice you do band works before warm up, does this help the hips to get warmed up for action? I notice in long runs my hips get really tight, would this help?
The band helps with the joints, tendons, and ligaments as opposed to the muscle. You can have strong muscles but very weak and rigid joints, tendons, and/or ligaments. Banded clamshells and quadruped fire hydrants helps with hip strength, mobility, and flexibility. Try it. I had the same issue.
I’d recommend some hip mobility work, there’s some great runner’s hip mobility routines on YT! Post-run or in the evenings can be helpful to stop them being tight the next day
Nice work! What a fun little group of athletes you get to train with. I’m really curious, besides chocolate milk and protein shakes, what you do recovery wise on a high mileage week like this? Or, is that your training secret? Massage, foam rolling, vibration plates, inversions? I would think a bit of swimming after the harder efforts would really boost your recovery. Thanks for sharing your journey. I’m in my mid 40s and trying to reconnect with my love of running.
I rest generally - sit down, nap, take a gentle walk. I keep it simple - maybe a massage once a week but I genuinely believe sleep>all the recovery fads
'Je suis froid' I think means I am frigid... I think you're meant to say 'j'ai froid' if you're feeling cold ❄️🥶 I THINK, please french ppl correct me, school was a looong time ago!
I think the third fact was a lie, you said Holly is going to pace you for your marathon in February but the Houston marathon website says it's in January 🤨🔎 🤔
Wow, impressive kilometage ;-) I hope everything goes well with the preparations for the marathon! She wanted to understand what I did in the past and I told her about our crossing-the-Alps trip by mountainbike. When I told her about the experience and mentioned that we went "gemütlich uphill" for 3h she had to laugh. She said I should keep that in mind when evaluating a situation - lots of people don't associate "3h uphill" _not_ with "gemütlich". Love the grind 💪
It still blows my mind how your "very easy" monday pace would actually knock me out for the rest of the week at half the distance 😅
Is that the 8:11 per mile pace?

The quality of this video went up significantly from your last videos. It’s much appreciated and noticed.

Your happiness is so contagious!
Awww thank you 🥹
Hi Philly! Can you do a video of your pre run and after run mobilizations? I am really interested!!!!!! Especially your hip mobility!
Love to see how happy you are!
Love that you promote therapy as such a positive thing to do - It’s so helpful having such a positive and mainstream view of everyone seeing some therapy as a good thing 🤗🙌🤗🙌
This is some amazing footage, thanks for sharing! Smart of Anya to back off from that cow, I probably would've got got

Wow. I'll be in Houston too. I'm much slower that you, I'll be happy if I finish in 3:29 but I'm over twice you age too. Good luck, love your videos.
Nicely paced video (no pun intended) great running & edit P&D🤝🏻🤘🏻
Most relatable part of the video was doing activations/stretches in a tiny space on the floor amongst the detritus of life.

Rich is the person who has friends. Keep grinding Philly.
The *free* Strava wont give me multi session elevation gain and Polar wont either. I would have to add them up manually.

Genuine question, Philly. How are you doing in terms of the 90 days out of 180 days in the EU? You must be pretty tight.
Thanks for the concern, but not right at all: 54 days out of the last 180 - space for more holidays! 😂

"J'ai froid", NOT "je suis froid". Wrong, but not as bad as "Je suis chaud" = "I'm horny" (yep) instead of the correct "j'ai chaud".
