Hey Alberto, I've been watching you for a few years now and you've helped me alot mate, ive even gone up a level in my goalkeeper career, I must say this level I'm at is very hard from the last, hopefully this video will help me overcome bad mistakes I've been making in some games and help me for further matches, Thanks Alberto, keep it up
Hi Alberto! Watched a lot of your videos and learned a lot. From just watching this video you look slightly out of confidence. Your constantly diving backwards rather than forwards. Just remember to decide early and commit to that decision! Love the videos and sometimes during bad form you just need a reminder on some of the simple things! Best of luck over coming the form :)
Andrew Dorrance cheers! yea got a lot to work on but we are on the way there! Thanks for the comment and constructive criticism I'll keep that in mind when I'm out training
Thanks, Alberto!!! After watching some of your videos, I can feel my mind exploding with more knowledge than I had before about techniques and all of that goalkeeping stuff. Sadly, it has been a very rainy spring for me, and I haven't played one game since watching any of your videos, but I know my next game will be one of my best. Thanks again for the tips.
Thanks for the video, I'm in a big dip in performance right now and I think that these tips will get me back on track again :D You're one of my favourite channels!
I absolutely love your videos and I have found the best way to recover from a bad match or training session is to remember there are 10 other people on the pitch who could | should have stopped the ball before it got to me. #properindividual&teamdefense
Thanks for this video about the mental part of being a goalkeeper, which is for me the most difficult part of the job but also the biggest challenge! In my experience, the mental part goes hand in hand with the physical part: when you're in good shape, it's easier dealing with mistakes, difficult game situations and making the right decisions in a split second. (Look at the pro keepers who are real athletes and often have that one touch that makes the difference between a goal or a save). But of course, that means doing a lot of work, we mostly don't like very much as a goalkeeper: running, spinning, ... During the previous summer and as my personal preparation for the new season, I started with monitoring this physical training with a sportwatch and app. This made my progress visual, and motivated me to keep training and working on this physical part so that I was able to deal with the mental part during the start of the season (with a new trainer and keepers).
I can relate, even worse, I lost a match (because we were outnumbered from the start) where I conceded 26 GOALS! Thing is, even if you got obliterated in goal, work harder so your next match is a glorious one. Bad matches can happen, sure, but what defines you as a GK is how you get over it for the next match. P.S.: After that disappointing 26-3 loss, the next match I played ended in a 7-0 win, and I'm still thinking about that glorious performance, taking in consideration that it's very rare that I end up getting a clean sheet in an indoor soccer match.
Thanks this video helped me through a cup final loss due to penalties you inspire me to carry on and practise more and more and develop my skills so thank you
I never thought about a way to overcome that mental issue with the first goal before. Whenever I lost 1, more came in a chain. It usually took me about 10 minutes to pull myself back. Nice videos :))
This is going to help. I struggled last night in my game. Specifically in the second half. I'm looking forward to getting back out there and redeeming myself.
feeling really lousy after a match few hours ago. just really not mentally prepared and i was unable to focus throughout the whole match. conceded 3 goals and got subbed off, which was what i needed - rest. i'll use this flush technique the next time. thanks for the video!!
Alberto your right as soon as I let a in a goal in Gaelic football i begin to get angry and lose my temper especially if it's a goal I should have saved thank you for the tips and support I would be a good goalkeeper if I haven't watched your videos thank you and keep up the good work
Alberto! Your Are helping me every time I Watch your videos, and help me to become a better goalkeeper Physically and mentally. (Maybe some typos, but I'm from Norway)
hey ARS Goalkeeping, I am having a massive issue with my anger management if i let in a goal, mistake or a bad goal kick and really gets into my head. ill try your "flush" technique and see if that will help
Hey Alberto. First of all your videos help me a lot in improving me. I have a slight problem. The problem is that whenever I go down for practicing my friends just start making fun of me and abusing me like "I am of no use as a goalkeeper" etc. which really hurts me. Can you help me out in this situation as I really get upset and this affects my form. Keep up the good work!!
The thing that gets me the most is not the Losing or getting scored on, its my team blaming me every time i get scored on. Like it's always my fault...
great advice man, thumbs up! indeed one of the hard things that can happen is to concede a goal and usually after conceding a goal instead of focusing again to the ball and the match, I'm bashing my ownself in my brain and it's really distracting. nice tips and great vids alberto!
Pablo Aimar yea if your nearby my academy takes players your age, but I think most do..other academy's have different deals though so I'm not sure how they work
I just had a bad game and i cost my team the game because I was to lazy to jump to get the ball and the ball bounced over me and he scored. Thanks for the tips.
hey alberto great vid is it possible for you to a video on how to not be so in consistent as I am decent but so inconsistent and I want to work on it but not too show how apart from just having shots at me. keep it up man.
I'm a u-14 first year being goalie and am shorter and we do a drill like that but everyone is in a half circle around the net and that's how we do it, but thanks I will ask to do this more :).
Hey Alberto I had a question for you; So I am a high school level goalkeeper and play high level club. I need some new gloves for training this summer and College camps but i don't want to totally break the bank. What would you recommend? I like removable fingersaves and I must have an excellent grip for my gloves. I was looking at One Glove, West Coast, and Aviata, I just don't know which ones. Thanks man!
You should definitely have more subs, surely outfield players like me enjoy watching these too however, I am actually interested in learning the position.
Hi I’ve been in some of the best form of me playing recently starting from last yr to most of this season we’ve been unbeaten all year n yesterday despite winning 6-5 I had a howler letting one go threw my legs my worst game in a long time and I can’t get it out my head
great video but l have a big problem when the striker is ready to shoot i always dive to right i cant save the close shoots that comes to my left because i dive to right what do you recommend for me?
I remember last season it was the last game to see whos on top of the table 1 and 2 tied up and the first goal went in and it mentally drained me and 5 goals went pass me and when i look back at it i could of easily saved them like one was a cross then it curved way to hard and went between my legs and one was pretty much not the best player of there team and we scored, it was the saddest day of my life so far
A good goalkeeper is not the one that never has a bad match, but the one that learns from their mistakes if they made one in a match and get better by it. Be positive on your skills, and work on wherever you feel are lacking! Do that, and you'll regain your confidence! Believe in yourself, and you'll grow to become a better GK! I've had really bad matches, in some cases losing 8-1, 6-0, or even 26-3 (yeah, that was terrible). I've even failed in crucial moments, failing to score a penalty that meant we were eliminated from the final. But you'll only grow better if you believe in yourself, and don't let those bad matches from the past haunt you! Good luck, and long live all the goalkeepers that never give up on themselves!
Thank you for a great video as always, any tips for youth keepers who shut down after a goal? I coach a keeper who cries if two goals get passed him, thanks!
Manuel Neuer used to have his teddy in goal when he was a youth gk, I would explain to them that it's a game and no one is mad at them. Other than that just getting them used to the goals and letting them know it happens to everyone !
thx alberto I became a better goalkeeper because of your tutorials
Bentrayel Uui
Same
Carl Johnson where is sweet

Alberto how do you keep your personal problems off the field during training and games. I struggle with this from time to time.
I've always hit the crossbar and said reset after any goal for or against me. I'm surprised it's recommended by good keepers!
