Those merchandise are primarily to cheat outsiders by perceiving it to be "Beijing food that you must try before leaving" because Beijing is famous for its "strong-taste food" all over China and because few outsiders knows what they should try here. The entire market is a scam, poor quality, over-priced, and it works.

Dogs and scorpions are very uncommon in most cities but exists everywhere, and simply counting those cities where dog meat and insects are common it already covers more than 1% population. If anyone ask me to give a fair depiction, dog meat is like alligator meat in the United States. A few cities are like Louisiana, and in other cities they are extremely hard to find but still scattered around.
I love rooftopping, just not for the purpose of photography. I sometimes sit on a rooftop for hours at night, with a few bottles of beers. It's an epic sensation of freedom.
