Hip Hughes and others, I have a high school senior who is working on his final research project and the topic he's selected is the applicability of the classic philosophers, like Plato, Socrates and Aristotle, to modern society and a comparison of their works.
As part of his project, he must consult with an expert in the field or at least, a related field. Basically, the student asks a few questions via email on his project and uses these thoughts to help guide his research. The project is to be done by June.
Can anyone help? That would be amazing!

I think it's important to talk about how Aristotle's method was to use Inductive reasoning, starting from empirical data and working upward toward the mind and structure of the universe. But Plato's transcendentals (truth, honor, love) cannot be accounted for using Aristotle's method, they are outside of it's scope entirely. Plato used the term Logos to mean the Divine Mind or God. Logos is where we get the terms logic and dialogue because it's the logical and rational aspects of YOU that is divine. Not in a "You are God" kind of way, but rather, you are able to become divine depending on the path you walk. To find truth, you have to use Inductive and Deductive tools. They are not a diametrically opposed philosophy as many would make it seem. Inductive is a fine tool, but it has to be in sync with the top-down approach of starting with Axioms/Postulate and moving outward from what you know is true.
However, often times, I see atheists ignore deductive reasoning, the axiomatic platonic way of thinking. They only use inductive reasoning to argue (using the inductive tool science) against the fact that this Biocentric Universe is a Divine Mind, they see the universe as a dead machine, not a cosmic archetypal symphony of mind literally made of consciousness. Plato and Aristotle were simply the archetypes of two different, but equal methods of thought.

I've been teacher of philosophy firma 7 years un high school here in spain. Really well exposed! Sometimes I think of Socrates like a sophist but unpaid. Sophists were great as well, they were the very first Inés abolitionists of slavery. I love protagoras that came from the same town than democritus. Later on aristotle who founded his school, liceus, epicurus founded his school, the garden. Stoics, skeptics, and so on. Their debates were the same than ours.

[What is your mental index (SQ, Spiritual Quotient)?]
I have developed a measurement table that measures individual’s mental level according to the degree to which he has realized real-truth. There are 150 steps in the table, ranging from -500 to +1000 depending on how much you have developed your spirit based on your intelligence. Those who are trapped in the physical world and live mainly in the flesh belong to the scope of -500 ~ +500, and those who do the real-truth and live mentally belong to +500 ~ +1000. Another separate table gives the examples of the well-known persons’ SQs in human history. Are not you curious about how much your SQ is?
