@@ArtoriusGiangus Actually no. Japan did not return it back to nationalists China.
PRC and ROC werent invited to the 1951 San Francisco Peace treaty because of the civil war in China. Therefore Japan unilaterally gave up all sovereignty claims on Taiwan, without giving it to anyone. This is one of the main issues of the current Taiwan dispute.
ROC who then fled to Taiwan wanted to sign a separate treaty with Japan, which eventually became the Treaty of Taipei in 1952. But japan declared that they already gave up all rights in the 1951 SF peace talks, and was therefore not in the position to handover something that they already did not possess, to ROC govt. Therefore the clauses of the 1952 Taipei treaty was largely identical to the SF peace treaty, except it was without any clause touching on the sovereignty of Taiwan.
The same issue happened again when PRC normalised relationship with Japan in 1976. CCP asked japan about the procedures of officially acknowledging the sovereignty of Taiwan under PRC, Japan gave the same answer that they cannot give PRC something that they no longer possess, neither can they vouch for something when they didn't have jurisdiction over it, so the whole Taiwan issue was hung there.
If you check out ROC's official territory based the constitution, Taiwan is not in it.
To sum it up, Kuomintang forcefully seized Taiwan island and moved ROC administration to Taiwan

The reason why Canada and the US aren't together was because the war of 1812 ended in stalemate. We basically said alright, we are tired of fighting, you guys get that side, we get our own, sign this treaty now and stop shooting timmy for god sakes, HES ALREADY CRIPPLED.
Though if we were together as one country, you would have a shi. Ton of resources like oil from Alberta and Alaska, a bunch of fish from both pacific and atlantic coasts, and a bunch of metals and ores and stuff.
Canada is also a good place to farm as well, and it has many defensive points such as the rocky mountains in british colombia. In terms of weather, we would have almost every single type of climate.
We would also be the largest country if we were joined together as one. Culture wise, we are the same as of today.
Military strengh would be off the charts.

You forgot to mention that in international competitions, China does not allow Taiwan to call themselves “Taiwan” or have the Taiwanese anthem played. Instead, Taiwan teams have to name themselves “Chinese Taipei”

So, you can say there is two regime between Taiwan and main land, but they are all chiese. Like North Korean and South Korean they are all Korean.

As for why we，the Republic of China 🇹🇼 cannot be called "Taiwan Chinese" internationally，it is because：
1. We do not have the same sovereignty situation as North and South Korea.
2. Taiwan Island was incorporated into China's territory too late.

To make it simple, Kuomintang forcefully seized Taiwan island and moved the ROC 🇹🇼 administration to Taiwan.
🇹🇼 This is the flag Republic of China, not Taiwan. Taiwan has never been a nation throughout colonial nor Chinese history. Besides Taiwan, ROC 🇹🇼 also has control over Kinmen, Penghu and Matsu islands. And now here's the fun part, Kinmen and Matsu are actually part of mainland China's Fujian province while Penghu falls under Taiwan province.
I'm not making things up, it's clearly stated within ROC and PRC. Technically, both ROC and PRC are sharing Chinese province territories. Another fun fact,mainland China's Xiamen (also part of Fujian) supplies water to Kinmen, because they are just 30km away from each other.
So now if you are a citizen of Kinmen or Matsu, would you call yourself a Taiwan citizen or even Taiwanese? The government tries so hard to push the narrative of Taiwan is Taiwan & Taiwan is not China to the point that many people in Taiwan don't even know their true history at all.
So when you don't know what really happened, you can only argue and fight with your emotions not facts. This is also why the current party that controls Taiwan refuses to communicate with mainland China, because the Taiwan is Taiwan narrative that they have been running with could back fire andcause them to lose the next election while the previous party that used to rule mainland and Taiwan island KMT, have been communicating with PRC to ease of tensions between the ROC and PRC.
One more thing. All ROC 🇹🇼 citizens are issued with the same passport cover with Republic of China written on top and Taiwan written below. There's no consideration towards those from Kinmen and Matsu (which are part of Fujian province) . The only way to find out is to open up the passport and check the place of birth: Taiwan / Kinmen etc (under the nationality of Republic of China)

As a Taiwanese, though it is sad that Taiwan didnt join the UN, but I think we have over 2% of people are mostly from south eastern asia, and we have more in common weather, food, street views, and so forth to the south eastern asian culture. It would be better if we can join ASEAN.

Good video but your map of China is incorrect. You left out Aksai Chin which has been under Chinese administration since 1962.

Taiwan's main issue lies in political contest between US and Russia in Asia since 1946.
Also, we need to know that every policies made by PRC is meant to serve the interest of the CCP not the majority of the people in Mainland and Taiwan.
Technically speaking, the so-called CCP is a party or we can say it's a group, and individuals in any group have their own individual interests, which are often not the same as or may even be contrary to the group's interests. If we have to talk about the interests of the CCP as a group, it is in fact to make life better for the people on the mainland and even for all human beings in the world -- after all, this is the source of the legitimacy of the CCP's rule as of today.
I met a Chinese girl and as soon as Taiwan was mentioned, she FLIPPED OUT and say that people recognize Taiwan to be racist against the Chinese. I said how can that be when you are more or less the same creed?
The she blabbled on and her style of thinking was so harsh and one dimensional. I kept trying to tell her that people dont hate China but the politics of the CCP but I guess that to them, you have to have both.
Then I met a Taiwanese girl and she seemed super chill and told me how Taiwanese people troll the Chinese on the internet that hey, spy for us and we will give you money and the Chinese actually believe it and get angry 😂.
I think that of all the East Asians, Taiwanese people seem more cool and "connected".

What about the differences between Austronesian languages, Taiwanese(Taigi), Hakka, and Mandarin Chinese?
In the aspect of ethnic groups, such as Hoklo(Taioanese), Hakka, etc.(who immigrate to Formosa islands before 1949), which is very different from the 49 immigrants' identification with the land.
There should be more than 16 ethnic groups among the indigenous people, and their languages and identities are also different.
