I firmly believe the Minutemen are one of the best bands to have ever played. Period. I never tire of their songs, it's a shame not more people appreciate the brilliance....
When they started, they didn't realize that they had to tune their instruments to each other, so they were playing the same D, for example. Mike was confused as to why they sounded like crap, and then someone told them what was up! It's literally amazing what they became.
I worked security for Tulane University and this tour came through NOLA. Still blows me away. Missingmen have added SELF-REFERENCED to their set and they will be here in 2 days careening through our faces, brains and earholes.

Had the minuteflag release years ago but never followed up on the minutemen even though I loved that. Listening to this I can see what all the fuss is about. Brilliant.
The song Little Man With A Gun In His Hand was written by Chuck Dukowski who was the original bassist for Black Flag who also co-wrote a lot of Black Flag songs including My War and What I See. Chuck is named after Charles Bukowski. The greatest american author of all time.

Pettibon would have taken yet another juvenile stab at "the underbelly of suburban America" and turned the Boon-Watt food fight concept in some kind of gang war involving swung chains, sharpened sticks and fragile masculinity. Also there would be dicks. Dicks galore. Why the Minutemen, a party band with compassionate populist hearts, ever let him draw their album covers is a mystery to me.
DNA were a No-Wave band that weren't trendy enough to enter the realm of white boy funk, and also who Aero is too trendy to see the similarities of in this band.
DNA and the Minutemen are 2 of the greatest bands af all time, and one of the things that makes them so is their absolutely unique natures, that neither ever sounded like anyone but themselves. That both were part of pretty incestuous scenes carrying with them their own sometimes rigid orthodoxies, while remaining impossible to mistake, says it all.

sososo fucking true , minutemen rule the world man🎶🎸🔊🔈🔉🔊🔊📻
I will proudly wear this t-shirt anyday.
Raw passion and spark. Sounds as good now as it did on the bus listening to my fkn Walkman jamming this tape.
It's simple. No chorus's - nothing for Bon Jovi fans to sing and nothing for Europeans to laugh at the USA with
Mike Watt's bass tone is a life goal.
Hearing this for first time. Utterly amazing, how did I miss this?
Gaahh!! Just.....man, those fucking basslines!! Mike Watt was truly an incredible bassist.
georgeharrison70 i think he still IS an incr. bassist...

@@adolfwigga Ok, last i heard was he played with Flipper in San Diego last night.....
Bought this(and still have) in 83 when I was 14. Cracked my head open to new sounds. Literally changed my life.
Truly this band changed my life in the early eighties. Truth takes many strange forms.
The most experimental punk group/band
I love 'em

Killer drum sound.

I grew up listening to WTUL in the 80s
the like button can not express what I feel and think when this music plays
Beats the hell out of a cup of coffee. D and the boys had it down. brings back some great memories. Gonna go dig out my flannel
Aaargh, this makes me want to go out and start a band!
GunproofGrandad Do it.
Didja do it yet?
if u do it find a bass player that wants to be a bass player. if a bassist thinks that bass is just bad guitar, the band won't be good.
Flawless EP. The two people who downvoted are likely Nickleback fans.
+BassasaurusRex Well said.
Double Nickelbacks on the dime? Lololol
Definitely nickel back fans.
@@talyobirdsey you speak like there's something wrong with the album.
RIP D. Boon
Amazing. Just think of what more could have been if not for D being taken from us too soon.
This album/EP is amazingly creative from beginning to end. So much diversity from track to track and everything is killer.
Just bought this on vinyl. One of my favorites.
The perfect trio. Add MEAT PUPPETS, and ZZ TOP. MOTÖRHEAD?! O yeah?
Little Man with a Gun in His Hand - that's the model right there.

hardcore, funk, post punk and jazz all rolled into a big noisy pack of music
I love this whole EP, but the first 2 songs just slay.
minutemen were a brilliant band.
RIP SPOT - best ep of all time.

Probably my favourite miniutemen record.BIG BLOW JOBS! 😂
Next up for all new material was Double Nickels. Buzz was a giant hint at the genius that was all of Double Nickels.
The title is a reference to the band This Heat

how can I believe in books when my heart lies to me? I'm full of shit!
It's not a Pettibon cover. It's a Joe Baiza cover.
Yo thanks for that info

Wait whose the person who gave this record a thumbs down?
Matt Peterson All the thumbs downs are actually people in Australia trying to give it a thumbs up
I'm an asshole, i had all their records, but heroin took over
No problem, let me know if there's anything else you want me to upload.
Hey this is not bad!

Little man with a gun in his hand. Minutemen are helping me make sense of the Vegas shooting.
I sing this song extra loud these days
My dream is to hear an album produced by Rush.
is that kira on Toe Jam?
If not on the album she would be Toe jammin' soon after with Watt lol

No. Joe Baiza of Saccharine Trust drew that.
+Ian Henderson that's cool. saccharine trust is awesome too. I was into all the SST bands
I never knew that. I saw/met Joe Baiza on a Missingmen tour. He was a really nice guy and slayed the guitar. I would have figured Pettibone.
