I live in Iceland and its not as cold as people think but it is very wet and extremely windy, all my hiking jackets or gore tex and I see no reason to try anything else. I've been caught out in winds exceeding 80mph in torrential rain and stayed perfectly dry and warm (using layering obviously)

But Gore windstopper softshells treated with dwr permeates air and that's completely windproof... Am I missing something?
