I would love to see the sales figures for Hasbro to see whether sales declined before they chased trends and gimmicks or if sales declined after they chased trends and gimmicks. Like I feel like execs were thinking “My God! Ninja Turtles and video games are selling huge! All Joes must be like Ninja Turtles and Video games.” I suspect the desert themes derive from the gulf war. Before that joes were themed on Vietnam and the European Cold War
No beret issues aside, Eco Warriors Flint had a better head sculpt. They should have just saved some cash and worked on that headwear they included on this otherwise surprisingly good final series fig. I totally forgot about this fig
I USED TO COLLECT G.I. JOE TOYS WHEN I WAS A KID, MAINLY FROM 1982 TO 1988 AND ALSO SEVERAL OF THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY SNAKE EYES FIGURES. ENDED UP SELLING THEM ALL. NOW I COLLECT STAR WARS TOYS
Good review. There was no power struggle as Flint, prior to joining the GI Joe team, would not have been a line officer. Warrants in the Army fly helicopters or are technical specialists, they are not in the command structure. Whereas Duke, a First Sergeant, Top Kick, was used to being in charge of enlisted men and advising junior line officers. Flint, like Duke, was a natural leader, so when put in a position of authority, even though he technically outranked Duke, he respected his experience. In addition, he was aware, being regular army, as well as prior enlisted, maybe equaling Duke's rank, that Duke's positional field authority was absolute. What was missing was the Lieutenant (or higher), the officer in charge of tactical deployment and troop movements. See Aliens. That is why in the comics, Colonel Hawk was field commander of GI Joe. The comic makes much more sense in terms of understanding command and how it works than the dumbed down Sunbow, or worse, DIC.
Flint looks cool, except for the shoulder pads and they could have painted the beret black like in the card art, and maybe desert camouflage. Great review HHC!
great end to 90's month but im ready to get back to the 80's still a good figure one that i still need for my collection. i think you gave flint a fair review and i think ill pick this one up
That missile launcher rears its ugly barrel again with the Street Fighter movie Guile. Flints lower legs are later used with Mortal Kombat movie edition Sonya Blade. Both none GI Joe characters who actually look more like GI Joe's then most Joe's from the 1990s.
I assumed he was closing his right eye because he is left eye dominant like me. When I shoot, I need to at least partially squint my right eye to aim, otherwise I see two foresights on my weapon.
This version of Flint is a paratrooper, but he doesn't have a parachute or backpack. He would be a good figure if the helmet and shoulder pads would be different.
I'm not so sure about the good relationship between Duke and Flint. Flint was demoted, transferred to a toxic waste cleanup unit and finally forced to wear this ridiculous hat and glasses... I think there's Duke's hand in it...
OK HCC788, since you mentioned G.I. Joe #37, you are going to get my fan theory about Flint... One one page(pg. 6 to be exact) in issue #37, Duke and Roadblock both mention Flint with some familiarity. Flint and Duke mention that they're old buddies that served together, and Roadblock said that he "gets mean" in a firefight. It is also worth mentioning that Duke and Roadblock were both introduced in issue #22. It is my theory that Duke and Roadblock had transferred from another clandestine Special Forces unit(similar to file cards mentioning serving in other Army Units)-bypassing the "G.I. Joe bootcamp" training because they were already Special Forces qualified... And Flint was recommended by Duke to the Hawk and they other higher ups, and was simply transferred to the G.I. Joe team. To me anyway, this is really why there is no rivalry between Duke and Flint because they were ol' Army buddies that went out on a few Spec Ops together. I also theorize that at the time of Flint's transfer was an E-6 paygrade that wasn't fully complete with the necessary training to be granted the title of Warrant Officer, but G.I. Joe added him on knowing he was going to fill that roll. What do you think? Yes? No? Maybe?
This was one of the final figures I had as a kid. The hat just didn't work for me, even back then. Overall, I just wasn't impressed with the figure. However, I think a modern version could look really cool, and make the hat and goggles work as well.
Late to the game, but he isn't winking... He is being portrayed as lining up his iron sights on what appears to be a an evil black ar15 style rifle with presumably an A2 style rear sight.... Just my opinion... Thanks for the great review as always!
To be fair to Flint and Lady Jaye, when I was in a "co-ed" unit in the Army... well, let's just say there was a lot of shenanigans going on - including the knock down, drag out fights between lovers.
Great review, HoodedCobraCommander788 ! I've owned the first 2 Flint figures. I didn't like the Eco-Warriors version at all. The desert uniform is okay. It would've been better with some light brown camouflage. The orange missile launcher really wasn't necessary. I can say it's a step up from the Eco-Warriors version, though.
Also, being a paratrooper you would think that Flint would have a parachute as an accessory. Still this a pretty decent figure for the last year of the vintage line. Also, I must say that if you took the head from the Eco Warriors version and added a beret to it would make for some good custom fodder.
Great review once again. My son has both v2 and v4, although the v2 has the legs of the Tiger Force Duke. He used both versions as desert soldiers. He said that with Flint's hat on it looked like he had Bow Tie eyes. Love the reviews!
Hey there HCC78 how are you doing? My name is Brayde and I just wanted to let you know that I love your videos and thank you very for all the work you do for us! Much love from SoCal to you and yours bro!
This was due to the fact that Hasbro recolored the Flint version 4 mold and released it as Rock N Roll with the G.I. Joe headquarters playset in 2001. When they reissued the playset the following year, they released the action figure again listed as Flint, but forgot to give him an updated file card.
Dude you have good rapping skills respect HCC788... wtf i never knew there was a this versions of flint all though i follow yo joe.com never noticed it... kind cool toy
he really does nt look like Flint to me, the design is quite bad. but.... I m very interested into looking at what I missed during those days. I had a sports car to pay, and did nt have as much money to grow my collection then. the red october guard is what I regretted most to miss from that period. I look forward for your review on them. good show Commander!
Hahahhahahahhahahahahhaahaa...I'm not even gonna say one word vanilla ice ....he looks kinda like a bootleg judge dread ..hahhahahaa....nice work. . this one was hilarious I'm gonna watch that intro a few times ...mhahahaa
HCC--disappointed that you didn't call out the discrepancy between the card art showing the Beret and neck cloth as being Black. While that wouldn't have worked in a desert environment, it sure did look much better and would have been better if at least the beret had remained Black.
The street fighter Ken portrait makes him look like he has some kind of congenital birth defect. Not a very good way to try and sell a tie in property on the back of the card.
You say you want more realism but you also say that Flint should always wear a beret. Trouble is berets are part of a dress uniform and aren't worn in combat. Even the Green Berets wear combat headgear (usually helmets) in combat instead of their famous berets.
Flint and Stalker made me fall in love with berets. So I owned every version of Flint and still own this one. Great review.

That hat/goggle combo makes him look like some kinda bird-themed superhero.
Maybe he was intended to be the counterpoint to Raptor.
I'm glad I'm an 80's kid
Commando 1985 word
It would be cool to see more desert-themed Joes, like Roadblock or Beachhead. In fact, this is a nice idea for customs.
I USED TO COLLECT G.I. JOE TOYS WHEN I WAS A KID, MAINLY FROM 1982 TO 1988 AND ALSO SEVERAL OF THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY SNAKE EYES FIGURES. ENDED UP SELLING THEM ALL. NOW I COLLECT STAR WARS TOYS
He looks like Raptor with the head thing on...
That orange missile launcher looks like typical over sized Rob Liefeld style gun that we saw a lot in 90's comic books.
I knew I saw that somewhere! Ha also Savage Dragon did that too Erik Larsen was the artist I forget
I just got the figure so I am watching this again. I really miss him, and this kind of reviews!
almost looks like he's trying to do a bad Zartan mask for Halloween! :D
I really wish that rather than so many new joes, Hasbro would have done more established Joes in different camo schemes

that orange gun shoots t-shirts for sure
WHEN FIRST INTRODUCED FLINT'S FILE CARD STATED HE IS A WARRANT OFFICER BUT THE GRADE E-6 IS A STAFF SERGEANT.
I assumed he was closing his right eye because he is left eye dominant like me. When I shoot, I need to at least partially squint my right eye to aim, otherwise I see two foresights on my weapon.

he goes well with battle navy seal shipwreck.
woulda made a real nice Dusty mold too. Awesome review as always, thank you!
BRILLIANT!!! YOU always make me laugh...but this...was epic....word to your mother!

I really liked this figure back in 94 when I bought it.a nice surprise to as him being reviewed
Late to the game, but he isn't winking... He is being portrayed as lining up his iron sights on what appears to be a an evil black ar15 style rifle with presumably an A2 style rear sight.... Just my opinion... Thanks for the great review as always!

HCC's rapping is better than modern rappers lmao.
I like how you looped the guitar in the intro, very punk rock
Great video commander
A good channel should always be only good comments I wish you all the best, my wonderful friend Our like
Flint looks like the same mold as the 2001 Rock and roll that came with the Gi Joe headquarters and also his hat looks like judge dredd

Was Street Fighter II ever part of the GI Joe toy line? If so, will you ever review the figures?
That song came out in 1989 Ice Ice Baby!
Fun stuff liked the figure and was the last "New" figure I bought fromt he vintage line when it was current.
Flint looks like Judge Dredd, with the hat on.
i clicked for the flint....but stayed for the rap
WHISKEY
TANGO
FOXTROT!!!!!
he really does nt look like Flint to me, the design is quite bad.
but.... I m very interested into looking at what I missed during those days.

good show Commander!
What version of flint came in the toys r us. Gi joe classic collection
do you have review about battle corps shipwreck
O.K.figure. If I had him as a kid I wouldn't use the helmet and wouldn't have used him as flint.
😂 Tight rhymes CC 🤣🤣
A GI Joe rap? Reminds me of rap viper by wordburgler
Hahahhahahahhahahahahhaahaa...I'm not even gonna say one word vanilla ice ....he looks kinda like a bootleg judge dread ..hahhahahaa....nice work. . this one was hilarious I'm gonna watch that intro a few times ...mhahahaa
Pretty cool Flint, looks great nice sculpt.. but scrap the rocket Launcher I like most SL Launchers this one's crap though too big and bright orange.
greatest rap EVER
Looked like a really sucky Judge Dredd helmet at first
Del Short Didn't you know that Hasbro released Desert Camo Dredd?
"I AM THE WARRENT OFFICER"!!!
Best rap ever. :)

Crowded accessories packaging for sure. I pick on these figures yet I miss these days.
The street fighter Ken portrait makes him look like he has some kind of congenital birth defect. Not a very good way to try and sell a tie in property on the back of the card.
With that hat he looks like Sia

I dunno, I feel like his gun is a bit on the small side
It's looks like Judge Dreed ...
They don't use any red or orange.......While his chest is 🍊 orange
Thank goodness he was only available in 1994;)
Paratrooper with no parachute?
Obviously, he's a helicopter assault commando
He looks too much like the starwars Hoth rebel soldier
Not a bad figure, but it should have been a new character.
I liked it great job , but your Singing was off key .
Flint was demoted due to the fact he became very close to a Section 8 after Lady Jaye's death.
You better consider street fighter part of the vintage toy selection if you know whats good for you You have now been Cyber bullied 😡
I'm looking forward to going back to the 80s! The 90s figures were God awful!
Jeenkz K you mean like this gross version of Flint? Some other character, some other line? Maybe...
I never did like Flint.
Btw for the record, Flint > Duke in my opinion. He was just a more relatable soldier over Duke.
That's not Flint. No, no it is not.
Don’t ever rap again. EVER!
I totally disagree. It was the best dad-rap I've ever heard.
Matt Edwards Bahahahahahahaaa...
The rap was epic, yo
No No Noooo. C’mon man that figure isn’t good.
Flint? Or Lady Gaga?
I just threw up in my mouth a bit...
Dislike! Not your video. That Flint!
