      The ninjitzu of 3dprinting says remove supports before curing and use hot water (60C) to soften the supports, makes support removal easy as fock

  • @FLbk3010
    @FLbk3010 2 года назад +108

    Just a tip from someone who works professionally with 3D printers: just use a pot with hot water and put the parts in for one minute. Then you normally can easily pull of the supports (sometimes depends on the used material). Just make sure it is not as hot that the parts also start to bend/deform.

      Advice I got was to start with hot tap water, and if it doesn't do enough, add splashes of boiling from a kettle until it works.
      Another good option for longer pieces is a hair dryer, they can direct a pretty solid and controlled amount of heat.

    When watching you grind that resin, I just had to say something. That paper mask isn’t going to keep those super fine resin particles out of your lungs. I recommend getting a 3M 7502 mask with some P100 filters, or equivalent. When sanding, do it wet. You won’t know you sucked up too much resin until it’s too late and you become hypersensitive to dust. Just trying to help.

    Glad you're back. I just started a Ryefield Panzer IV today. First time with the brand. Got some 3D printed tracks for it and upgrade kit. Tried out a vortex shaker my son gave me during the holidays. Don't know how I got along without it..130 seems pretty reasonable for a pretty rare subject.

    Protip from someone who handles 3D printed resin models, albeit not tank ones, at my work. The bottom hard piece the supports are attached to is called the raft, and we often break that into pieces before beginning to remove individual supports, as it makes it a little easier to get at the more interior supports. The supports attaching it to the parts will often break off the parts with the raft pieces before the parts break (with obvious exceptions when it comes to more delicate parts).

    Next time you get one of these kits, throw the parts in hot (not boiling) water to make the supports far softer, allowing them to come off just by looking stern at them.
    These kit's do look incredible though!

    I can't wait for the day when I can just buy the model kit I want and 3d print it on my own resin printer. I have printed many different scale items for my RC Hobby on my printer. Looking forward to where this goes in the future!

    If you put the pieces in hot water the various support will come off easily. With most type of resin it works

      Indeed, I've been told the same thing. However I had a bad experience when washing the model with soapy water, the moisture made the tracks "soft" and grow in size. I forgot to mention it in the video, but luckily, the "shrank" back to their original size. So I'd rather avoid it with some fragile parts, just to play it safe.

      No, that's terrible idea. It will soften and deform the resin long term. Don't do this.

      @@NightShiftScaleModels You are correct. Hot water deforms the pieces. Bad idea to use that "trick".

      @@shadow7037932 I always do that and it never deformed in the long term, could be the type of resin

    Uncle night shift, have you considered doing a separate series of a community build. Where you pick a widely available kit and go through a beginner level tutorial step by step while people follow along with their own kit at home?

    Thanks. I found this Jerry interesting. I don't know if I would enjoy building one like that. If I could afford it I mite try one. But then you have a way of making thing's look easy. I agree with you about the suspension and tracks I'd like to see a few more like that one. Well my friend have time with all your builds. I will be watching. I appreciate your work stay safe and happy
