NIGEL "THE DARK DESTROYER" BENN vs GERALD "THE G-MAN" MCCLELLAN one of the boxing history's gruesomest wars. I always feel that the Middleweight division held some of the most hardest hitting punchers out there from Bob Fitzsimmons, Stanley Ketchel, Harry Greb, Sugar Ray Robinson, Marvin Hagler, Thomas Hearns, John Mugabi, Gerald McClellan, Nigel Benn, Julian Jackson, etc.
The thing with Benn was that win, lose or draw he went out to destroy or be destroyed. Too many fighters choose easy fights or try win on points to reduce risk of being knocked out just to keep a clean record.
mcclellan was the better fighter on that faithful night, he floored benn twice and was ahead on all 3 scorecards , benn showed guts and heart that night , in round 4 you could see something was wrong, mcclelam had his mouth piece hanging out as he was strugling to breath, then you could see him contently blinking and rubing his eyes , but he continued to fight. i respect benn, he was a warrior, but that night benn did not win due to him been the better man or fighter, he won due to a Fatality !
Mcclellan was a cocky arrogant SOB who thought he could take all that Benn had got, and he paid. His defenses were down right from the start and Benn made him pay. The fight starts the minute to agree to fight, training in camp, discipline and getting into and maintaining the right mindset. Its not just the 12 round of fighting my friend.

Ah come on man, The fight was closer than many people remember it. Sure G Man had Benn in trouble early but Benn was edging his way back into the fight. But Ill say one thing-It was both the best fight I have ever seen and the worst. Incredibly tragic that the world of boxing hasnt done a thing for Gerald. Nigel had a fundraiser for him though.

I didn't know that Benn did weight training, I thought most trainers advise against heavy weight training?
