    Why block and lose your guard plus creating a pattern for the opponent to take advantage of? Why not just intercept the person's punch with your own attacking punch using it as a fencer uses his foil.. while simultaneously pivoting to the blind side so any counter won't be able to reach you ( or will barely be able to reach you in a worst case ) ?

    Hey, Bas, first let me say, you were/are a great fighter, and I definitely respect your skill and power. You were one of the most entertaining fighters, and you have a great sense of humor!😂 I have a question for you though. Did you sustain a neck injury, and/or an injury to your right arm at some point? It looks like you have quite limited mobility in your neck, and your right arm is considerably thinner than your left. Just curious.

    Kicks to the groin are not allowed in MMA . So the MMA stance exposes the groin too much. How could this be useful in a real life situation ? or he would switch to another stance in real fights ?

    • @rickybushy
      @rickybushy 8 лет назад +10

      Move. Or block. All fight training useful... I don't hear many stories of mma fighters getting owned on streets by a kick to the balls but I've heard plenty on people picking on the wrong guy and getting messed up!

    • @notstrangerswiththee6962
      @notstrangerswiththee6962 7 лет назад +2

      Asish Anatta Good luck beating a competent MMA fighter on the street with a groin kick. I know, I know... Your sensei/sifu trains you for real-world, instant kill practical self-defense, right? Your techniques are all too deadly, and not allowed in MMA, which is why nobody from your discipline can step in the octagon and win an MMA fight.
      I mock you as someone who has studied traditional Chinese martial arts, enjoys traditional martial arts, and respects traditional martial arts (for what they are, which it seems more and more is anything but a valid modern fighting system).
      When are the Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Aikido guys gonna start dominating in the octagon? Can't win a fight unless you are allowed to do the Chinese "Vulcan nerve pinch", or "throw your chi" and melt the opponent's liver?
      I consider MMA guys athletes/fighters, not martial "artists" in most cases. But they will beat the pants off martial "artists" 85% of the time. Why? They train to FIGHT, while the traditional guys simply don't.

    • @safdarkh786

      From your point of view, yes. Depending on your background and your skills. Bas is a fighter and he goes straight to the point. No need for kata, karate forms or stands, perfect move "cock and punch" etc. You are not wrong or right. Many MMA starts with some sort of martial arts, or grappling background, but in the end is street fight who wins.
