I love the bike from the HD elephant heart to the perfected Buell engineering that allowed the bike to lean into corners faster and leap out eager for more. I hope to one day, I will live to see the two imbodyments of American dreams create another beast that would earn it's name in the MOTOGP hall. I know I have much to learn. I am unexpericed, young, and have much more to learn when it comes to bikes, but when I see these people create these works of art. I gain hope, and I gain confidence that one day, I will see a bike. A bike that represents the true American dream.

50 years ago, Honda sold scads of motorcycles to people who bungeed a lunchbox to the sissy bar and rode to work. I've been one of those guys for the past 38 years, and for the past 17 years that job has been handled by a 2005 1200 Roadster. All I see are articles about customization and nothing about actually riding it. I live near Pittsburgh, so how about a ride to Flight 93, or Mount Storm, or Custer's birthplace in New Rumley, Ohio or John and Annie Glenn's home in New Concord, Ohio?
Some of us actually get our bikes dirty. How does this new one behave on the road?

I admire the fact that they are trying. To me every cycle is a work of art. Took total guts to break the mold and develop the pan america. Now the problem. I work in a union shop and our bike club is down to just a few retirees with the old school HDs. Their mentality as well as most MC members have zero interest in putting a leg over anything liquid cooled. On top of that the younger members in the union have no ambition of owning a bike and joining the club. It's not a $$ issue they just are not interested. There is too much competition in the mid size cruiser and HD has demonstrated in the past they prolly won't support this bike either.
HD should just become a niche bike company and focus on their heavyweight tourers/cruisers. That market will always be theirs.
Finally, as a FTR, Scout 60, Z900RS, KLR650,ZRX1100, and former Street Glide, Switchback,XR1200x owner, I am disappointed that HD felt the need to add vibration into this powerplant. Until they get out of that mindset they will have trouble moving forward. Also, the video is to showcase the new bike but all I saw was builders already changing it. I hope they sell millions. (But, ride a Z900RS if you really want to see R&D in action).

And to top it off, Harley is, or used to be, an American bike. Wtf is with showcasing globalism? And the bike doesn't even sound like a Harley. The engine is ugly af. Power only gets you so far. I agree the Nightster may be a bit overpriced and I think you should get the 1250 for $13,500, but that doesn't mean the Scout automatically wins. You're the one that doesn't get it, not Harley.

At that starting price you can just hop on a softail standard for a hair more… Bigger bike, bigger motor. Affordability isn’t in the equation for the decision to buy anymore. These are nice but with the minimal price difference I think Harley isn’t going to see sales where they need to be on these. Logically if I had a choice to buy a sportster or a softail at like 2000 in price difference, I wouldn’t look twice at the sporty. They went way left field with this one and bit off more than they could chew I think. Sucks because I love sportys.

£13k base price in the UK... My question to Harley Davidson as an Iron 883 owner since buying mine brand new in 2016... Have you completely lost your minds up there in your Ivory Tower? You can get a hell of a lot of bike here in the UK for £13K.

    • @HamRidez

I'm also in the UK and unfortunately have to agree with you. I've been dying to get a Harley for two years now and watching with a lot of interest to see what Harley are doing. The Low Rider S is my preferred bike but at a whopping £18k, it makes it hard to swallow. I suppose at least there's tech on these new rev max bikes though. I'm personally in love with the more traditional M8 motor over the rev max for sound and feel. But I did test ride the Pan am and have to say it was blisteringly fast. 0-100 in no time at all, and didn't even know I was doing it with the windshield. I ride a K1300 BMW right now and as fast and smooth as it may be it's pretty soul less tbh. For that reason I think it's important that Harley's keep their soul. Shake. Rumble. Noise. Smell. it's all about the experience and how it makes me you feel. Not just going fast. They don't seem to of gotten that mix of Soul and Tech right yet for me.
