Seen allot of people with 40 series GCards but there CPU's are around 8th gen at best. I've got a 1660 ti but a i7 10th gen (it also has a 32 ram). I can run it on high (with some changes no motion blur as ex) getting 60-70 fps in wilderness and never dropping before 30 in city.

    • @Ravenna_Black
      @Ravenna_Black 2 месяца назад +5

@justinsaunders110 if they need to charge 90, 100 or even 200 dollars to justify making the game, then they should just charge that. But my guess is they don't need to do this. This is a bonus for them. They artificially increase the difficulty or put artificial barriers in the game to drive people to making these purchases. Some people can't resist, or they don't have the time to deal with extra grind, so they get pushed to making these transactions. The other problem i have is that the true cost is obscured by breaking it down like this. This is just another way of using human psychology to extract more revenue. It's predatory and dishonest, and I believe it unfairly impacts individuals who, for whatever reason, are more susceptible to an already, highly researched, and engineered practice of extracting your wallet through your controller.
Back when Bethesda pulled this, everyone rightly got pissed and complained. But the companies kept pushing. Kept wearing us down. Eventually, they poured enough poison down our throats in small enough doses that we got a legion of corporate apologists and a bunch of kids who don't know the world before paid dlc and pay to win, gacha etc. Our acceptance doesn't make it right. It just means they have worn us down. And Im afraid on this subject and in many others like right to repair and digital ownership. It's going to take serious and educated lawmakers to step in to regulate because I don't think we as consumers can rally effectively enmass to fix an economic system that is desperate to push most of us into poverty.

@@GregorySnipeThe core issue here is that while most of us don't buy, there's a significant portion of people that shill out for those DLCs and microtransactions, which is why companies put them into these games. While DD2 DLC seems to be mostly cosmetics, in other games they are more predatory, forcing players to either live out the grind or buy the DLC to make things easier, which is understandably frustrating. Not buying DLCs is a good step, but yet they are being made more and more cuz some people spend tons of money on them. We would need some sort of societal change to stop this problem.

As a whole, this game is weird in its design, with some baffling choices.
The single character thing is not only a matter of "you want to try out new things", but what if you have a sibling that also wants to play? For example, I was halfway into Baldur's Gate 3 when my sister visited me and I thought, why not let her play as well? Of course, she started a new game where she could create her character and all that.
Or the change your appearance thing. What's up with that? In BG3 you can change whenever you want, no restrictions.
Oh, in DD2 you need an item for that, one that you can buy from vendors (or as MTX). But what is the point in doing it like that? More busywork? I just don't get it.
The same with fast travel, in BG3 it's completely free, in DD2 it feels like a chore.
What's with all the hurdles? Why not give the player the freedom to do what he wants?
I'm guessing it's a Japanese thing, they have this obsession with spending a lot of time in games, grinding, especially in JRPGs.
Or maybe it's indeed related to MTX, a way to milk players who don't have that much spare time, so they have to spend extra to get the tedious parts out of the way.

Well, when one of the biggest creators on RUclips couldn't play the game for more than 10 minutes without it crashing and makes a video about it, that's not going to help things.
Plus, before I saw anything about how the game was doing, I read the steam reviews and it was primarily about performance and crashes. I don't care about the price, the hollow MT's are normal for people who play Japanese games, I'll say it's 100% on Capcom for not being clear about what the MT's are, I went and read the descriptions and they are exceedingly vague, leading to misconceptions.
If it wasn't for the player reviews pointing out that you can earn this stuff in game, I'd fully believe that they were locking game features behind MT's, this is another great example of it's not what you say, but how you say it.

Cyberpunk wasn't an arbitrary pile-on: CDPR willfully sold people a broken product. It might have run fine on your expensive, top-tier rigs, but that wasn't the experience of most, and dismissing people's concerns with, "Well you played on console; what did you expect?" is giving a free pass to a company ripping people off.
And without that backlash, nowhere near as much effort would've gone in to turning Cyberpunk around.
Are there people piling on Dragon's Dogma 2 just for the sake of it? Of course, it's the internet; what did you expect?
Does that make concerns illegitimate? No.
Would Capcom bother addressing the issues if they weren't causing them a PR headache? No.
"But look at all it offers!" Who carse if you can't experience any of it without it melting your CPU?
As for the microtransactions: no, they're not as egregious as in many other games, but when those elements being sold are available by design in other games, and the game is designed in such a way that those things actively make the experience better, it smacks of Capcom slicing stuff out to sell back to us.

I really love you guys but I struggle with Bruce's point about the poor console performance being something that should be expected. I had the same issue with the Cyberpunk video. Somewhat waving away criticism that people should expect poorer performance on console is a little odd. With Cyberpunk, if they knew that the PS4 couldn't adequately run that game, it shouldn't have been released for the platform. I think people have every right to be upset when a game releases for modern platforms with inconsistent performance, especially on current gen consoles, as they don't have any choice in upgrades at the moment. Either the game is ready, or it's not. I think people are just getting more and more tired of games releasing in a state that's not ideal. I understand that you both were caveating your experience with your high performance rigs, but I do think people have a complete right to be upset when games this heavily marketed and hyped for all platforms have performance issues. Especially console players, who honestly have the right to expect a pretty well optimized experience from AAA studios, which seems to be more and more rare unfortunately.

Just because you guys didn't have any problems on your top on the line PCs (even then you STILL had framerate issues) doesn't mean that there isn't a serious problem with the game and its current state. The whole excuse the game devs made up for why games needed to increase in price was "games are harder to make, we've been having to make up the cost with microtransactions".
Some people rightfully assumed that games increasing in price would result in getting rid of microtransactions. A game like Baldur's Gate 3 is a perfect example of how people *want* 70$ games to be presented.
As for performance issues on console, every console is the same. Performance issues on PC makes sense because hardware varies per system. Devs can make their game for a NASA computer and snootily scoff at your toaster of a PC.
If you sell a game on console, you should optimize the game to run on it. You can't feign ignorance. If you have one PS5, you have them all.
Game devs have no excuse to launch a game that doesn't run well on a console.
You couldn't get it to run on the hardware? Don't try selling it to me on that hardware.
You don't see anyone bitching that you can't play Star Citizen on console. People buy consoles so that all of the games they *can* play, can play well.

Like ya hes right its weird that all capcom games do this but only this one is seeing some crazy backlash.
But on that same note hes not pointing out that maybe the other titles didn't have the terrible performance issues letting people go into the game and enjoy it instead of complaining all through the forums and finding multiple extras to latch onto to say "this thing is also bad".
Or maybe on the same note the type of people that would play the type of game like Dragons Dogma aren't the same sort of suckers that'll just let that stuff slide like SF , RE , or DMC.

I'm not sure it's the 70 price tag. I very much remember backlash for DMC5 for having those orbs or whatever you can buy even though it was a single player game. In fact I'm pretty sure I learned about it watching a Inside Gaming video (or maybe it was when it was still called The Know?). The issue with MTXs in single player games is that it will inevitably lead to games centering around them too much to appeal to whales and ruining the game for everyone else. It might not be consistently there, but the backlash makes sense when we all can see what it eventually can/will be. Same with live service games. Look at how many games/studios have suffered because they went that route.
A perfect example is Battlefront 2 (the 2017 one). It required you to literally play thousands of hours *in a row* to unlock everything. The higher ups at these companies don't care how unreasonable that is for most people because most people aren't the target. It's the deep pocketed ones coming off 9 to 5s that are.

Within the same breath, you said that you personally weren't experiencing any performance issues but that other people were so that their opinions were valid, but then went on to say that people shouldn't expect to get good performance on consoles/weaker PCs? I paid 60 dollars for Cyberpunk 2077 day one on Xbox One and it was literally unplayable. That game was marketed for XBOX ONE AND PS4. In that situation, how was I the bad guy? If you buy a product at full price, you have every right to believe that said product should function properly day one and if it doesn't, you should have every right to be upset. I do not have the kind of income that you guys clearly have. I don't have the income to afford a High end PC rig. Does that mean that I'm just too poor to appreciate certain videogames? I didnt see pushback from that at the time. Performance is how you experience the game on a second to second basis. Too choppy a framerate can make some people ill. For me, microtransactions in single player games is usually a sign that the developer has purposely unbalanced their game...which they encourage you to fix with a microtransaction. The example I always sight is the difference between mid game grind in Shadow of War compared to Shadow of Mordor. One game flows, the other just bogs you down in grind...that you can grind out or buy out. This isn't 'get gud', it's 'get a life' as it's about how you use your time, not your skill.
Anytime I see a single player game has an XP booster, I'll give it a pass, or a mod.

Appreciate your commentary on this guys (and the streams) as the vitriol surround dd2 is beyond insane.
This is not a pay to win game and this is not a game that has had core content locked behind a paywall. This is not NBA 2k where the game is so unreasonably grindy that you would have to pay 40 or more dollars more to enjoy the career mode, which is a core part of the game you already paid for. Rift crystals in particular are plentiful in the world and twelve hours in I've got more than I'll need for my playthrough.
I'm used to consoles so thirty fps for this sort of game is fine for me on PS5. There is a little bit of slowdown at times in the largest city but that doesn't affect the game overall nor is the game 'broken'. This isn't the release version of cyberpunk on console (credit to cdpr btw for making it the game it was supposed to be with years of updates).
Ultimately this game is straight triple A. It's extremely fun, beautifully created and will be a deserving GOTY candidate. Thank you for calling out the completely overblown criticism and convincing me to give the game a go.

I stand by this and I think this is my major point of divergence with Gamers. By which I mean the forumites, the yellers, the Redditors, and the Console Warriors. you know, the weirdos being weird about all this stuff today. Games matter but they do not matter more than the world around us. They can help us understand the world and even understand ourselves but they cannot be the most important things in our life. When I look at the most outrage-fueled Gamers, including those who have credibly threatened me, my heart fills with pity more than anger.
