ALWAYS use the 'Pre-fader' to set your levels before any plug ins are used, that's what its there for. We don't talk Pre-faders enough when it comes to mixing.
@@JCNOAOU No problem. The pre fader shows you the level that your sounds are GOING IN to your mixer, post volume faders shows the level COMING OUT.. If you don't adjust those pre fader levels beforehand, no amount of post volume fader adjustments will stop your sounds from clipping. Use the 'utility - gain' plug in or 'Normalisation' function to set your pre fader levels BEFORE your mix, and also in between plugins on your mixing chain, this will give you headroom, it also ensures that your sounds are going in and out of your audio plugins at the same level each time. Ideally you want your initial track levels between -18 DB and -12 DB. Your pre master level should be roughly around -3 DB to -6 DB (with your master fader at 0 DB). To learn more about pre fader levels look into 'Gain Staging'.
no it's not. you can do the same thing 1 million times and still get a lot of things wrong. you have to start doing the right things. repeating is just a small part of it.
To add to this if I may first the performance out the gate makes the mixing & mastering process easy!! Second I like to encourage to listen to a lot of mono recordings like you said especially with headphones!!! Lately when I’m mixing I think about the old school recordings myself!!!
The title is misleading. As a professional engineer it takes longer than 10 minutes to get a great sounding track. I recommend getting your track mixed by people who do it professionally. You will hear the difference in your mix and an engineer’s mix.
i use soundtrap i think it does the mixing its self once you save it and exit the studio, plus i use a head set n i cant listen to anything loud on speakers at the moment
If you want your beats to be louder and hit hard you need a limiter at the end of your mastering chain, maybe 2 so one doesn't do all the heavy lifting
for the bass, i usually turn the volume up on my pc the daw and headset. n them i make sure the bass isnt to loud if it is it usually makes the speakers sound blown
Amazing. Thank God for His love, mercy, protection, and creations, and thank God during the highs and lows and God bless you and all of us in Jesus Christ’s King of all kings blood that was shed and name we declare and name we pray amen. 😊 Fantastica. Why isn't anyone mentioning gain staging?? By lovering your volumes of channels that clip doesn't make your stuf clip less... propper gainstaging is a nr thing that you should do first. let alone use compression.
The first version sounded ok but flat. The “mixed” version is clipping all over the shop like over saturated, over seasoned, over compressed fried muck.
sorry but as soon as i heard the first heavily distorted 808 hit in the "mixed" version I was out, espeically over a more melodic beat, honestly the before sounded way better
This Track clipper have HPF 50hz inside so be careful. This isnt good for subby track. IDK why people still use this, destroy your low end. This is analog style clipper. Vintage music dont have that sub like modern music.
@@Ouyiggh8807 It is serious. This guy hasn’t got a clue what mixing is. Nowadays people think they can mix and master with presets. That’s why so much music sounds like over processed fast food fodder.
@@phillatio3266 If it still needs to sound good then what he said isn't true. A non mastered beat can sound good but will sound unpolished compared to any properly mastered track. And speaking as a professional engineer, most people watching these types of videos can't afford an engineer.
heya ocean - u broke this down so nicely and made approaching a mix a lot less daunting. Merci
amazing video brother!! Mixing beats is a daunting concept as a beginner but this video puts it in really simple terms. Much love
Happy 500k broooo🎉🎉🎉🎉

Sounds like you know what you talking about… can you tell me more about the pre fader techniques.. appreciate your reply in advance

FINALY someone mentions gain staging. ffs
🤣
You said: "The more you do this, the better you gonna get." That is soooo true, especially in just opening up the DAW and just cooking up.
no it's not. you can do the same thing 1 million times and still get a lot of things wrong. you have to start doing the right things. repeating is just a small part of it.
Thank you!

Nice man👌
Interesting video man. Bro may you please make a video of you making Afrohouse 🙏
i use soundtrap i think it does the mixing its self once you save it and exit the studio, plus i use a head set n i cant listen to anything loud on speakers at the moment
I also use Soundtrap
If you want your beats to be louder and hit hard you need a limiter at the end of your mastering chain, maybe 2 so one doesn't do all the heavy lifting
Also, do you recommend adding a limiter on the master as well, even though you have a soft clipper?
for the bass, i usually turn the volume up on my pc the daw and headset. n them i make sure the bass isnt to loud if it is it usually makes the speakers sound blown
Thanks bro for the tip
Thank you bro!!🙏
🔥🔥Appreciate IT!!!!!
BRAVO!
Is the classic clipper a free plug-in?

Thanks bro, that 808 was the key, anyway we can get that the 808?
Someone said Logic gang stand up 😂😂😂😂
I like the sound control in MPC Studio. But if this works for you go for it.
this style is easiest to make in modern productions

Aiaiai headphones
Does anyone know what mic he's using?
Neuman u87
How you put the 808 in mono in Logic??
ikr, i wish he could just show us
Use the gain plugin and switch to mono
Choose mono instead of stereo on quick sampler
The first version sounded ok but flat.
The “mixed” version is clipping all over the shop like over saturated, over seasoned, over compressed fried muck.
thought the same...strange "example" for a mastering..just sounds oversaturated..nothing more
Off rip mans was clipping
The processed bubblegum Burger King shallow crap started when people began calling songs, tracks and music, “beats”
sorry but as soon as i heard the first heavily distorted 808 hit in the "mixed" version I was out, espeically over a more melodic beat, honestly the before sounded way better
Exactly

No need to master your beats and need need to really mix it tbh. The engineers of the artists will do all that.
U cannot be serious
