- We grab this footage "From the Archives" and step back in time 20+ years ago to the 2000 NOPI Nationals Motorsports Supershow held at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hamilton, GA. At the time, this show was the largest gathering catering to Import/Tuner cars with as many ~7k vehicles in it's peak or popularity.
This show was before the first Fast & Furious movie was even released but watching the video you can see why the cars in the movie were modified in that fashion. Some will cringe and others will remember fondly back to those days depending on if you were around in that time or what you were into. Like with many things, styling and what is popular in different car cultures change over time.
I actually filmed this back then on an old school RCA VHS camcorder (the large analog cassette looking tapes for the young folks) and it was pretty big lol. The stills were taken with an old Kodak DC280 2.0Mp camera which was good tech for that time. Just temper your expectations, this is old footage so it is not nearly as crisp and clear as video filmed today. Back then I also just filmed things haphazardly because I didn't know any better nor did I ever have any intention of anyone other than myself and friends of seeing any of the footage.
So relax and enjoy the little look back to this facet of the car scene back in 2000.

It's so refreshing to see people without a cellphone
Man these were such good times.
I miss these
Same, I have a ton of memories from these shows.
This sure takes me back, went to every Atlanta NOPI from 2000 until 2006. Good times all around.
Good to see another old timer like me hehe. I went every year from 1999 on and even when they brought it back to the Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, GA (although these years never brought back the magic from when the show was at Atlanta Motor Speedway imo)
Ah yes. The good old days. All people who were into imports, lowriders, minis and euros not bc of Fast and furious. The people that the movie was made for.
Definitely lots of good times back then.
Man I miss these days. I remember watching Nopi Nationals on weekends as a kid.
I was there. I worked for NOPI back then
Nopi use to be so dope, I attended one at Rockingham I wish i could remember the exact year...so fun, so much optimism in the inport world those days. You didnt have to have 500whp didnt have to have a Supra or a Skyline to participate
..
I think it was 06
Now days kids will call these cars ricer
Nowadays kids don't want to drive a car and it's just as disposable as a cell phone to them, probably due to everything out there being generic crossover garbage. In 2011, sure, people would call these ricers. But kids wouldn't even notice now because they're addicted to tick tock.
Primo example - cruising in my '64 convertible, nearly got t-boned by a kid in a tesla staring at his phone and not focused on driving.
good old days when everything was still badass 👊🏽
Wow! So cool going back in time! Those were the days!
Lots of good memories for me back at that time. I still miss this show.
😮 Thank you for sharing! Do you have more footage you could share? 👍
I don't have any more footage of this specific show but I do have some older footage from other years as well as some other older shows that will slowly come out on my channel (I use them to fill gaps in my current release schedule of show coverage). So just keep checking back from time to time.
@@CWooProductions Awesome! 😊Thank you so much. Older tuner shows were and are still my favorite. 👍
