The worst part is the oil changes. Even if you do them yourself you are looking at around $130 for oil and filter. My A8 uses 5W-40. Only Quaker make's that type oil and it's around $13.00 a quart, and it take almost 8 quarts. Oh, and you have to use 91 octane non-ethanol unleaded gas at the very least. It's kind of pricey to own. But the performance in a 4 door sedan is hard to beat! I put a $340 cold air intake and a $220 performance chip on mine. I'm getting right at 522 hp, and 498 torque. In an all wheel drive quattro system, it hauls! I used a gps to go 0-60 and the best I got here in Oklahoma was 4.6 seconds. Sorry to raddle on but, lol. If you get replacement parts from Audi they will more than likely have to order them from Germany. Sounds bad, but it isn't. Audi Germany ships free to any Audi dealer in the US. I ordered all 11 or so coolant hoses to replace and it cost me $212, not bad at all. If you have anymore questions, fell free to ask.
PS - When you take out your plugs it is not just to change them but you're supposed to look at the plug to see how the engines running and from the looks of those plugs the engine is running lean as shown by the whitish color surrounding the insulator. If you follow this guys advice you'll be buying a new car soon. This guys picture is next to the word amateur in the dictionary!
Putting iridium gives a smaller spark. They are made for long term, usually turbo cars. The 5 valve per cylinder engine that you have runs better with the stock plugs with 4 prongs. Those plugs are made specially for that engine....
Orest Wolfgang thanks for the info, it’s been 5 years and it starts right up, idles and accelerate perfectly, gas mileage is great not that I really concern. I did read about 4 prongs, that’s why I decided to use single prong.
This person is a weekend mechanic and it's only wednesday, never ever put oil on the threads of a spark plug, that is exactly why spark plugs get frozen into the spark plug hole. Over a period time the oil acts as a glue as the oil keeps getting heated and cooled, use anti-seize paste, just a little goes a long way. This guy knows nothing about cars, if you torque your spark plugs at 14 lbs they'll be launching themselves out of the spark plug holes in the engine very soon. The proper torque for this motor is 18 to 20 lbs. This guy knows nothing, pass this video up!
Two things: He seems to be using the WRONG spark plugs. Also, why would you not replace the coilpacks at this same time? Its foolish. REPLACE THE COILPACKS people
He's DEFINITELY is using the wrong spark plugs ngk spark plugs are for Japanese cars only "Lexus and Toyota and Honda" German cars use bosch spark plugs. Smh
False. I have owned Vws for over 10 years and believe it or not the Ngks have worked better than any style of bosch. They even reccomend NGK plugs for volkswagen vr6s in the vw manuals. Bosch is just a german company. doeant mean they only work in German cars. Im telling you go NGK. they are more durable and wont foul out prematurly.
Hi, what do you think of ngk 6418 vs ngk 5547 spark plugs? thank you.
You should use an impact to zip them in there, they'll eventually torque themselves.
What size tool for the removal of the coil harness right at the beginning of video?
The plugs you took out are even still better than the ones you put in.... hahahaha
Great video, thanx for the effort. Is the A8 very expensive to maintain even if you do most of the work? Lovely car, my dream car...

@@TheJerrydon575 what kind of cold air intake and chip did you put on?
@@andythai7213 The intake is a modified S4 (B8) intake from K&N. And the chip, or should I say programmer/chip is from Innovate Motorsports.
@@TheJerrydon575 Thank you, Sir!
thanks for the video,,, like the fact that you use torque specs on the plugs
but changed that spec with lubricant!
