    I think you are right about the double lock. I recently went on my first trio where i slept in the back of my 2017 4runner. The first night I had the windows cracked but it got down to mid 30s and i woke up in the middle of the night, turned on the power to roll them up and think i only single clicked and put the keys in my shoe. Next morning it was totally dead. In the back of my head i remembered you saying this. I jumped it with my portable power and the next three nights i double clicked every night and no battery problems. I also remember hearing a buzzing sound like a motor running but nothing was on and i cannot for the life of me think what it was.

    It seems that you really enjoyed camping in your 4Runner. I hope your Tundra is just as pleasurable or even more. I have a 3gen 4Runner that I converted into a micro camper complete with solar, refrigerator, inside bike storage and enough room to sleep comfortably. I've considered a larger vehicle but I really do love my 4Runner! There was definitely a time or two that I was hoping for a little bit more space but I made it work and I'm glad I did. It never let me down! I wish you many many many awesome adventures in your new rig!

    Because your truck camper weighs so little you should be ok with the Tundra or the Tacoma. They are both rated for about the same weight even though the Tundra is bigger. If you kept your racks from the Forerunner you should be able to use them in the back seat area to help with storage.

    I tow with a Highlander Hybrid and set up the back in primitive fashion so I can sleep if I don't have my trailer with me. This has allowed me to go places off-road that the trailer can't manage. And when I came home for the winter, I could sleep en route after the trailer was put in storage (saved lots of money). It was really helpful to see what you were doing for storage because my sleeping space was kinda tight given my storage/cooler needs! Do you have something to block light from the windows?

    • @TailsofWanderlust
      @TailsofWanderlust  2 года назад +1

    Cool, you traveled through Alien City, my hometown. How was your experience there? Also, where did you get the molle gear for the back of the 4Runner, I'm building my 4Runner as well, but also have a Tundra.. TIA

      Sadly, other than my battery dying I didn't get to see much else in Roswell. Although absolutely love NM! The molle gear is from Rago Fabrication. Thanks for watching!

    Hi I'm from Chile and want to know the dimensions of the plywood to level off the back of the 4runner

    how about getting in and out of the 4runner? do the doors open automatically with a key fob and can you unlock from inside?
    what's the easiest way to get out? I car camped in my Toyota Rav 4 and the doors were so heavy I had a difficult time getting
    in and out of the car. Thinking of trading in my truck for a r\4 runner.

    Be careful of the turbos in the tundra. Lots of people are having waste gate actuator failures in the first week of ownership.

    I think most suitable vehicle for your need is a truck if not full size than min Tacoma with roof top tent on the back. This would have saved you a lot of money and bring lot of comfort and plenty of space .. when I am saying plenty it would be enough to take care all needs.

    Do you have any other mattress recommendations that'll fit and are comfortable? Amazon is out of that one :( thanks!

    • @TailsofWanderlust
      @TailsofWanderlust  2 года назад

      Unfortunately I’ve only ever used Lucid so can’t comment on a specific other brand. But get one with good reviews that splits into 4 like this. Reason is to fit my4Runner, I had to cut off one of the small sections. Being split in 4 was easy to do that. But I’ve also had many memory foam mattresses I cut with a bread knife. So if you have any memory foam mattresses you like, you can always custom cut it to size too.
